Ch 9: Inheritor

“What is going on?” Lu Shimming stood in the rocky terrain as he looked at the mountain ahead. He was back at that place again.

‘Didn’t I die?’

The question was a mystery.

He had no idea what was going on. But, he definitely remembered his heart being pierced by the dagger. There was no way someone could survive that.

‘Jin Ho..’ A hint of sorrow flashed across his face, as he remembered Jin Ho taking his last breath in his arms.

“Crackle!”

Before he could dwell any further onto the topic, his trial came.

Drops of rain began to pour, before turning into a heavy downpour.

“There is no use in brooding over something that I can’t control. Let’s focus on what’s ahead..” Lu Shimming made up his mind as he slowly began to ascend. His steps left a deep imprint in the soft mud, his gaze fixed on the mountain top.

Unlike before, he felt much calmer. Maybe the recent event had changed something in him. Even the pressure weighing down on him didn’t feel as intense as before.

Ten.. twenty.. thirty,,

Slowly he lost the count of his steps, his focus only on the path ahead.

He didn’t realize that the sky was slowly starting to clear up, and a milky white aura seemed to be gathering from all over the world, enveloping him in it. Deep in his lifeless pupils, a light seemed to lit up.

“I have arrived..” Lu Shimming took a little pause before taking one more step ahead.

Hundred!

“Whoosh!”

The moment he did that, a pillar of white aura light descended from the sky, crashing down on him.

‘What is this..’ Lu Shimming looked at his body covered in the strange milky white aura. He didn’t feel any pain for some reason, but he could feel the dramatic changes taking place in his body.

The aura rushed towards his Dantian and engulfed it like a dragon, before shooting right through his body and towards his forehead into the Spirit Sea point and then extending towards his eyeballs.

“Whoosh!”

A white flame enveloped his eyes, as he felt a burning sensation in them. Unknown to him, his eyes began to change, as a deep silver white vortex seemed to appear in them, giving a chilly feeling.

As his eyes were transforming, so was his Spirit Sea.

There weren’t many cultivators who were able to open their Spirit Sea even after trying their entire life. After all, one needed to at least reach the Inner Sea Stage to open their Spirit Sea. Such figures would be highly valued by any Sect around.

Lu Shimming, on the other hand, hadn't even set a foot on the path of cultivation. But, the milky white aura, seemed to lack the common conception, as it forcefully slammed into his Spirit Sea and tore it open.

“Aaahh!”

Lu Shimming held his head as he fell onto his knees grumbling in pain. It felt as if someone had sliced his head open. The pain continued to torture him, as the Spirit Sea rapidly consumed the milky white aura like a hungry beast who had just been awakened, and used it to expand.

But it really was lacking.

Within a few minutes, the milky white aura was exhausted, and the Spirit Sea which started with the size of grain expanded to a radius of 10 meters.

It was quite a considerable amount, but the common knowledge was, an Inner Sea Stage cultivator had a minimum Spirit Sea of a radius of 100 meters.

Lu Shimming didn’t seem to care about all of that as he laid on the ground panting for his next breath.

It was at this moment that the ground started to shake, and the next instant, an ancient voice rang out.

“You have met the conditions!”

“The Yellow River, Welcomes the Next Heir!”

With that announcement, the ground began to crack as a huge Ancient stone tablet emerged, and the next instant a group of stars in the starry sky seemed to light up.

At this moment, Lu Shimming had no idea that his little actions had sent waves of chaos around the realms, and set off in motion the beginning of a new era.

Demon Realm

A middle aged man stood at the top of a huge Draconic Serpent, a beast from myths. Its body spanned miles, and could easily wrap mountains around. But the ferocious beast laid dead there.

“Your Majesty!!!” Suddenly a person descended from the sky, his face carrying a grim look on it, as he informed, “The Nirvana King’s constellation has lit up!”

The Middle aged man didn't reply, but a smile leaked across his face, “Well, the peace was starting to suffocate me anyways..”

Mortal Assembly, Kings Establishment..

A couple stood out in the court looking at the huge mansion overlooking not only the vast city but also managing the different mortal world in existence.

“It's finally starting..” The woman spoke with a mild sigh, as she looked towards her husband, “Whose side are we on?”

“My time is already over, Honey.” The man spoke with a smile, “I have already passed on my mantle..”

Yellow River

“Finally!! He has returned!!!’

A mad laughter echoed around, and a man dressed up in a gray robe looking haggard stood up with joy. He upturned the table which was full of paperworks, and laughed in a maniacal way.

Green Star

“Oh my..” A scholarly man sat on a chair with an amused look on his face as he sipped his tea, “The Heavenly Court is not going to be happy..”

“Master, did you hear it?” An ethereal voice sounded, as a girl walked into the courtyard. Her skin pale white, seemed to be able to melt on a touch. Her beauty was breathtaking, one that could cause the downfall of nations.

“Look at your eyes..” The Scholarly man shook his head with a slight smile on his face.

Heavenly Court

A lone white palace pierced the heaven, its pristine form a stark contrast to the swirling mists that surrounded it. This was the place that ruled everything that existed under Heaven.

Upon a throne of gold sat a woman. Her robes, woven from purple starlight, shimmered with royal power that resonated through the very air. Though her eyes remained closed, the assembly below held its breath.

At this moment, a light erupted across the starry skies, and a constellation suddenly seemed to light up.

“Constellation of the Nirvana King!”

Someone accidentally shouted, before immediately holding their mouth.

The court turned deathly still.

But, the woman, who had been sitting on the throne, was finally stirred.

Slowly, her eyes cracked open. Her gaze, however, wasn't directed at the assembly. Instead, it pierced the very veil of reality, seeming to focus on some unseen point far beyond the Heavenly court.

A hush fell over the room, deeper than before. Even the winds seemed to hold their breath. The weight of her attention, even unfocused, was a tangible force that pressed down on the court.

Everyone knew that a storm had started to brew, and the peace that had lasted for so long would soon come to an end.
