“Well, then I will be leaving now. See you tomorrow.” Lu Shimming bowed, as he left the Monastery of Jade clouds with a smile on his face.
“To think he could grasp so much in just one session. He is a monster. I might have only underestimated him..” Shi Huizhong sat there as he looked at the boy descending the hill. He was curious as to how the boy’s future would turn out to be.
…
Wu Estate
Lu Shimming returned back to his residence, and it had hardly been 30 minutes when Guard Wang arrived.
“Get ready, we are leaving in 10 minutes.” He informed Lu Shimming. He seemed a bit uncomfortable, finding it difficult to decide his behavior towards the kid whose status had skyrocketed in a night.
“I will be there..” Lu Shimming nodded with a smile, noticing Guard Wang’s change in attitude.
…
“Where is he? Did you not inform him?” Wu Feng frowned as he waited at the gates, with his entourage of five people, all on horses.
“I did..” Guard Wang replied with a frown, as he looked towards the path, but there was still no sign of Lu Shimming.
“He is here..” One of the men spoke, as Lu Shimming’s figure finally appeared, and he came sprinting down the path.
“Hurry up, we are getting late..” Wu Feng looked at him, as Lu Shimming got onto the horse and they finally took off.
As they left, a figure swiftly left through the Gates too, and headed for the gloomy alleys of the City.
“This place stinks as usual..” The figure muttered as he got into a run down bar, and took a seat at the counter.
“What do you want?” The Bartender asked as he looked at him.
Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
“Do the usual,” The figure spoke as he put down the money, with a small piece of folded paper between them.
“It will come right up..” The Bartender nodded with a calm look as he took the money along with the chit.
…
On the other side, Wu Feng and the group soon got out of the city, and headed towards the site of the massacre. It roughly took half an hour for them to reach the place.
Lu Shimming frowned once they entered the village. He could see a few burned down houses, and blood marks which seemed to have dried all around.
“Let's separate, and look around. If you find anything worth noting, bring it up..” Wu Feng ordered as the group got down from their horses and dispersed.
With that they divided into groups of two, and separated.
Wu Feng decided to bring Lu Shimming along with him. He still couldn’t forget his first encounter with the guy, and the vision that he saw.
The two of them entered a shabby looking hut which still seemed to be standing onto its two feets.
The hut was a bloody mess. It was obvious that someone was killed here.
“You don’t seem much unfazed?” Wu Feng looked at Lu Shimming, who seemed pretty composed.
“Well, I have been through things..” Lu Shimming replied, he had died himself. Watched Jin Ho take his last breath in his own two arms. “But, why did they target this place?”
“That's the question, the village nearby is more wealthy. If I were in their place, I wouldn’t have targeted this place..” Wu Feng nodded with a frown.
“It's kind of foolish. I heard Guard Wang say that the population of this village is a lot more than the other ones. They must have faced more resistance here..” Lu Shimming looked skimmed through the stuff in the house as he spoke.
“Yeah, it's as if looting wasn’t their motto, but killing was..” Wu Feng nodded.
“Killing..” As soon as Lu Shiming heard that, he remembered Wu Shuang and the Evil Cultivator from Blood Cult.
“What's the matter?” Wu Feng asked, his eyes focused on him.
‘Should I get involved?’ Lu Shimming thought inwardly. He would have refrained himself if it was a normal situation, but now that Wu Shuang had recognised him, he felt the need to get rid of that guy. He could even divert this situation to him, and expose him. Of course there was a chance that he would be exposed by Wu Shuang in this mess as well, but this was definitely worth the risk.
If those Evil Cultivators found out about his existence, he could only imagine them going bonkers over him. He was such a rare specimen.
“What if Killing was the actual purpose?” He looked at Wu Feng with a serious face.
“I think so too.” Wu Feng nodded. And, this was his source of worries too. “But, what is the purpose? Why camouflage it as a robbery? If they just wanted to kill, they didn’t have to hide it. Just reveal yourself as a maniac.”
“Maybe they are scared of attracting too much attention by doing that. If someone from higher ups got involved, their greater schemes might be dug out.” Lu Shimming chimed in.
“That's a possibility..” Wu Feng nodded with a calm face. “But, the only one who can have a grand purpose that involves killing people are the Evil Cultivators or the top brass of the Red City.”
“Politics is dirty, even in orthodox factions I see..” Lu Shimming let out a smile thinking about how he was plotted against as well. ‘I wonder what's going on back at the Sect..’
Wu Feng looked at him as a slight smile leaked out on his face, “You are not a stable boy, neither is your story true. Am I right?”
“Huh..” Lu Shimming frowned as he hid his nervousness and spoke out, “What is with this all of a sudden?”
“Well, you are too casual with me now. It is in stark contrast with your attitude on the first day. It had to be fake..”
“Of course not, I thought now that I had a change in status, I should act according to it.” Lu Shimming let out an embarrassed smile, while hiding his true self within.
‘As if someone who had led a life at the bottom can change his personality in one day.’ Wu Feng muttered internally, but didn’t continue on the topic. Now was not the time to dwell in it.
“Let’s go, tonight I will show you the true Red City..” Wu Feng let out a smirk.
