I was jarred from my contemplation by a delicious smell; I instantly recognized it as Thantos. Wondering how much time I spent explored this new feeling in my chest I lift my head turning towards the door. After a few seconds the door to my lair opened and a group of humans entered. the group consisted of the king, dressed in his fine robes, Thantos in his normal Gray robe, Atheros in his light leather armor, next in the door was a human I have not seen before, he had blond hair and had the build of a warrior, following was a stretcher carried by two guards in their normal armor, which moving my head a bit, I could see, the piece of meat (Bastros). Moving toward my hoard, still made of copper coins, the guards place the stretcher on the floor and excused themselves. Several servants followed the group carrying chairs and a large table. After a few minutes and about ten servants walking through the door there was now a meeting room setup in my lair. During this time I said nothing; I just watched them and waited.
After everything was set the silence was broken by the new human. “I would like to introduce myself,” he said giving a slight bow, “I am Cirden. I am the king’s weapon master, responsible for troop training in the capital.”
“Nice to meet you, I am the true dragon, Fafnir.” I replied. I could see a look of confusion on his face but it was quickly concealed.
Turning to the matter at hand I begin to speak, “thank you for coming to meet with me. I think there needs to be some… discussion on who the man on the stretcher is and what his purpose is.” Looking at them with my draconic, I could start to smell sweat coming from them.
After a few seconds the king sighed and began to speak, “as you are now aware of our viewpoint the reason was as stated, though he did not follow instructions and report to the captain of the guard first. Also could you explain what you mean by true dragon?”
“I don’t know if it the brooch or a misunderstanding, I am still learning from Atheros, but you see to mistake me for a lesser creature I know as a wyvern.” I explain, “Wyverns are stupid creates that share some draconic characteristics, though they are as weak as children compared to true dragons.”
“That’s why I could not find anything about you in the library,” Atheros blurted out, attracting glairs from the other people in the room.
“My question is what is going to happen to this so called ‘dragon tamer’” I asked to all present.
The king with a serious face looks at the man on the stretcher before speaking, “there are no laws dealing with this situation.” Pausing for a minute, He spoke gravely, “Though In the past any grievances dealing with heroes were left to the discretion of the heroes themselves.” I could see the pain evident on his face, as if he signed a man’s death warrant.
“Fair enough,” I replied, “I will contemplate on how to deal with him.” Hearing this, I could see anguish on all the faces present.
“Well then,” I said, “then shall we talk about the second point of business?”
“Yes, I believe it has to do with you becoming the hero.” The king said. “Though we did not realize how intelligent you were, we now understand our mistake.”
“Good, then I want to tell you what I think on this matter. I a few weeks’ time I plan on leaving the capital.” A look of surprise appeared on the face of all present, except Bastros As he is asleep. “the reason is simple, I need to experience life outside of my hoard .” I continued “I have noticed that in the past two days my growth has slowed and I am itching to do something different. I will allow two humans to join me. I would prefer Atheros as one of the two the other I would request a mage, like Thantos.”

Looking around the room I could see a mix of reactions. The king had a look of understanding. Thantos had a look of dread, “I think he is scared of my,” I thought to myself. Atheros had a hopeful look, like he was eager for adventure. Cirden was just stroking his chin deep in thought. Bathos was still asleep I could smell the blood in the air, “he should get that looked at”, I thought
“I can understand why you wish to leave and I can understand Atheros, but why a mage?” The king asked.
“I want to learn magic.” I replied, and the easiest way is from a mage.”
“Though,” I thought to myself,” magi do smell delicious”
“Wait,” Thantos shouted, “ can Dragons learn magic?”
“Don’t know until we try.” I replied while attempting to shrug my shoulders, “Though I have the feeling that I will be able.”
“Dang,” Cirden said, “a magic casting dragon would be terrifying.”
“Ok, I guess I understand,“ the king said while drawing out the words. “though, where would you go? There is not a place in my lands that will let a dragon just walk into their city and you have grown quite a bit.”
“Yes, I have grown,” I replied slightly annoyed with the repeated questions of the king. “There are several places I have been thinking to visit. Atheros does leave his maps on the table in the corner. On the issue of size there are a couple things I need to talk to Thantos about.”
“Ok,” the king responded, I could see the skepticism plain on his face, “I will need a few hour stop and think this over. I will send word with Atheros when I have made my decision.” The king stood up and said, “Is there any other business?”
“No,” I replied, “I will take care of the tamer.” I could see everyone wince as I said this and various people left the room looking at the man on the stretcher one last time.
After a few hours had passed I was still looking at the unconscious Bastros. “What should I do with you?” I kept thinking to myself. My anger had died down a while ago, especially after seeing the sorry state of the tamer. At first I was thinking that I was going to eat him but he did not smell delicious as magi do. So I have left him sleeping on the stretcher. “I wonder what this place thinks about slaves…” I left that line of thinking alone for now.
Another hour had passed when I heard a groan,
“Oh, what happened, I got the worst headache.” I looked over to see that Bastros had woken up.
“Good morning, snack,” I said trying to contain my laughter.
“Oh, Goddess it is the dragon.” He started to scream, “Help!”
“quiet.” I said sharply. “Or you will be a snack.”
“I am sorry, I hit you I was just doing me job.” Bastros replied as he started to cry laying on the stretcher.
“Now, the king left me in charge of your punishment.” I said looking over the prone man, “I have some things I need to ask you, and your life expectancy will depend on your answers."
Bastros’ face went white and I could smell something acrid rising from the now unconscious man.
“Dang,” I said, “I guess I will have to wait until he wakes up.” I got up off my hoard, and went to ask a guard to get someone to clean up after Bastros.

one could only wonder what will happen to bastros... only time will tell.
