Well without further ado chapter 10
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Feel the power burn within you and then let it out. Feel it consume your enemies.” I say to my young dragon apprentice.
“If I wanted to consume them I would use my mouth not fire.” The Fafnir replied, “every time I try to gather magic, as you said elf, the lights in the room go out.”
I sigh slightly, thinking to myself, “If it was a normal humanoid I would say that he has no talent for magic but after living in the corner of his lair for the past couple of days and seeing him cast several advanced spells while sleeping, I know better.”
“Ok,” I said to the young dragon, “let us try something different. I want you to sit down and find a ball of light in yourself.”
I watched the dragon lay down and close his blue eyes. The lights in the room dimmed and brightened to the tempo of his breathing. I could feel the mana surrounding the dragon, though something must have happened I could feel the mana around the dragon began to disperse.
“Whenever I look for the light ball thing I never find anything, everything around me is bright.” The dragon growled at me.
“Normally, people just see a ball of light in darkness,” I thought to myself, “maybe because he is a dragon; he does not have it concentrated in a ball…”
“Fafnir,” I called out.
“What Therin.” He snapped at me. I could feel a burst of magic from Fafnir. A second later the barrel that he has been trying to burn for the past several hours burst into flames.
“See, you did it.” I said to the dragon while backing up a little. The flames casting shadows on the face of the dragon making him look more sinister.
“Yes, I did… now I just have to do it again.” the dragon said after sighing.
“Well,” I said to the dragon, while still creeping towards the door, “I will have the guards bring in several more barrels to burn while you perfect your fire magic.”
I quickly turn around and walk out of the dragon’s lair.
“Excuse me,” I said to the guard. I could see distain, clear on the guard’s face as he looked at me. “Lord Fafnir has requested more barrels as the one he was using has been burned to ash during magic practice.”
“Why can you get it? Slave” The guard asked me.
“Lord Fafnir told me, to tell you to get it, Then after telling you to wait outside until he has mastered it,” I replied, “I am just doing as my master commanded.” I said to the guard, stretching the truth a bit to get a little revenge.
“Dang, slave.” I could hear the guard mutter as he walked across the castle courtyard.
I smiled a bit as I leaned against the lair door, Thinking on the horrid things that that I will do 1823 days to all the gullible humans for the indignation of slavery.
---------------------------------POV – Fafnir’s ---------------------------------------
“How did I do that?” I asked myself as I watched the barrel burn. I tried controlling my magic just as Therin told me, I keep trying to visualize the supposed ball of energy, but I can’t.
“I am a mana dragon. I am part magic. Why is so hard to cast it.” I start to complain. I watched the flames dance across the wood of the barrel as I considered how I lit it the first time.

I heard the door open while I was trying to find the light ball. I opened one eye to see two guards start to bring in barrels.
“Dang barrels.” I thought to myself as I concentrate on the new barrels.
“lord Fafnir,” one of the guards said interrupting me,
“What?!” I shouted, seething with hatred at the guard that interrupted me. At which point something strange happened, I felt something moving around in my chest, then I watched the guard who was moving around a barrel disappeared into a cloud of dust.
“Serves him right,” I thought to myself before realizing what I just done.
“Therin.” I called to the elf who knew was right outside the door.
“Yes, Fafnir?” the elf asked.
“How do I fix someone who I accidently turned into a cloud of dust?” I asked looking at the dust pile.
“What do you mean ‘cloud of dust’?” Therin asked confusion plain on his face.
I pointed my claw to the pile of dust next to the broken barrel which the guard had been carrying. “That pile of dust used to be one of the guards, he interrupted me while I was concentrating and well you see what happened.”
“Well good news and bad news dragon.” Therin said with a big smile on his face. “Good news is that you just used a high level disintegration magic that only a few of the top magi can cast and you killed a pathetic human at the same time.” Then looking more serious he said, “Bad news is now we have a pile of dust on the floor that needs to be cleaned up.”
“So he is gone?” I ask surprised at the callous remark.
“Yep, there is no recovery from being disintegrated.” The elf replied. “Here is the good part; did you feel something when you cast the spell?”
“Yes” I replied somewhat surprised at the question. “It felt like something was in my chest moving.”
“Good remember that spot,” Therin said, “because your magic is concentrated in that spot. There is where you need to feel the movement of magic. Now I would suggest you continue to practice on the barrels.”
I could hear the elf humming a tune as he made his way to the door and left my lair.
“Well, I hope no one will miss the guard.” I thought to myself as I explore the part of my chest where my magic resides.
A few hours later I hear a knock at the door to my lair. After a few seconds I see Cirden walkthrough the door.
“Hello there dragon” Cirden said in a friendly manner.
“Hello again snack.” I replied to the armored man.
“I was wondering if you have made a snack of any of my guards lately?” he asked with a serious face.
“I have not eaten any of your guards.” I replied, “Though I have been practicing magic lately.”
“Ah, I see,” the armored man replied, “I only ask because Ryk, one of my guards, has gone missing and he was last seen entering here.”
“I have just been concentrating on magic. Though I thought I heard someone but when I looked nothing was there, I hope he is alright.” I lie through my fangs, and hope he does not realize I am lying.
