We all made our way back into the living room where we all situated ourselves around the dining table.
"Rey... your sons. Do you realize the kind of future they has? Luz is only nine and Arthur is only eight, if they learn more in this point, they could be already stronger than a veteran B rank Adventure." Vincent said, hardly able to contain his excitement.
My father scratched his head. "This is crazy. I thought that they awakening 4 years ago was already terrifying, but to think that they would become a deviant as well."
"WHAT? They awakened four years ago?!" Tabitha cried out bolting up from her seat.
Lilia was also a little shocked because of this, but she managed to stay seated. I, she, my sister and my brother were sitting next to each other while listening to the adults' conversations.
"Relax Lilia, we are not that surprising."I tried to make her more calm, but my mother replied Tabitha. "Arthur managed to blow up most of our house in the process of awakening, Luz on the other hand, blowed up our backyard."
Lilia was now looking at my brother and I as if she were seeing mana beasts for the first time, while both my father and Vincent leaned back, sinking in their chair as they let out a synced sigh.
My sister got out of the couch and poked Father in the cheek. "Papa? Are yoo okay?"
Laughing, Father picked her up. "Haha, yeah I'm okay princess"
Vincent got up from his chair now and look seriously at me and Art who were just with a little fire in each hand, showing for Lilia to see if she became less scared about this, before look again to our father.
"Rey, how about enrolling your sons in Xyrus Academy?"
"What? You can't be serious, right? They are far for twelve years!" Father refuted, sitting up on his chair.
Tabitha chimeed in. "Rey, Alice, I think your children are more than capable of exceeding at Xyrus."
"Hmm... I thought only nobles could be there..." I said entering the conversation, after all they were talking about us, me and my brother, trying to get into a prestigious academy.
Excitedly, Vincent voiced out "I can handle that! I do a lot of business with the Director of Xyrus Academy so she'll be lenient in the enrollment process."
"B-but the school fees are much too extravagant for us to handle." Mother argued, still doubtful of the idea of sending us.
"Alice, that should be the least of your worries. We'll be gald to pay for the fees. Their talents are immeasurable. Who knows what he can accomplish. Even if we don't pay. I'm sure he'd find nobles that would beg to sponsor him." Tabitha held Alice's hand in her own for reassurance.
"AHEM! Do you also mind if I have a say in this? We have just arrived back home today. Can we spend a bit of time with our family before we decide whether to go to school or not?" Arthur said it while gaze to Vincent.
"Yeaaah, my brother has a point." I said while making little fire spells to entertain Ellie and Lilia.
"O-Of course. I apologize... Haha. I guess I was too excited there for a moment." Vincent said while just laughed weakly before sitting back down.
"Chotto matte... Mom, where do we sleep?" I asked, making the others look at me with a confused expression for what I said at first...
For god's sake... my old habit, to speak catch phrases in japanese ramdomly, is reaaaally strange sometimes...
"Hm...? OH yes! I almost forgot! You'll have your room next to Eleanor's in the left wing. Come on, let me show this, and I think that Lilia and Ellie need to sleep as well."
"Eh? Will we share the same bedroom?" Arthur asked while he was walking already in the stairs.
"I don't see what is the problem with this. Little bro~" I teased him, since I was older in both world and soul perspectives.
"Oh! Right, tomorrow we'll go shopping together. We need to get you some clothes." My mother said with a smile in her face.
Oh no... not again... I already have been punished with this... why god...
I just went straight to our bedroom, by passing Arthur, when using mana boost on legs. I took my travel backpack and put my things in a tidy closet. While Arthur had returned with some very simple clothes, I had returned with some elven-style clothes, but of course, the idea of buying more clothes was better, I didn't want to surprise the people on the street wearing them.
I waited to Art get inside the room, so he could organized his things, we went to sleep.
In the morning, I woke up seeing that Sylvie and Arthur were still sleeping. Taking advantage of this moment to be able to do my personal hygiene in the bathroom. I dressed in brown shorts, a dark green t-shirt, and as I will never forget, my elven beret. All dressed up, I went out of the room to meet the others.
"G-g'morning bruder..." I saw a sleepy Ellie coming up the stairs just as I was coming down. I gave her a light pat. "Good morning little sister, are you going back to your room?"
"N-No... Mama told me to wake up bruders" I laughed a little when she said that, pulling her to me and carrying her on my back.
"Relax, Sylvie will wake him up, for sure." I said as I walked her downstairs for breakfast.
Arriving at the place, I sensed a delicious bacon smell. I saw that inside the kitchen Tabitha and Alice were cooking something as they chatted. Lilia was sitting at the table, her legs dangling cutely, obviously waiting to be able to eat.
"Good morning Mom, Ma'am, Lilia!" I announced.
"G'morning!" Ellie said while in my back.
"Hm? Ellie managed to wake you up, Luz. This is good, but where is Art?" My mother ask as she placed some eggs into a large plate.
"He still is sleeping, but for what I know of Sylvie, she will waking up him just because of this smell~"
"Oh, thanks for bringing this up, I think you'll love what we prepared, but hey. Did you sleep well?" Tabitha smiled as she tossed the bowl of salad she had in her hands.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
"Yes, I slept, I'm just not used to waking up without hearing screams."
"H-hearing screams?! W-What are you talking about?" My mother looked at me scared.
"It's just that where we were, that same girl I said we helped, always woke Arthur up by hitting him with the pillow, and then his screams were my alarm." My mother breathed a sigh of relief as Tabitha imagined the scene.
"Hi Ellie! G-good morning Luz..." Lilia seemed to be so interested in the food that she only now noticed our presence there. She kept looking at me, as if she was slowly analyzing me.
"Well... Tabitha said before that she was shy. That must be it..." I thought as I smiled at her and return the greeting.
After a few seconds we heard footsteps behind me, it was Arthur, all dressed up, but with scratches on his face. "Good morning everyone. What are you making for breakfast?" I saw Sylvie jumping all over Arthur's head, trying to reach the plate of eggs, but I caught her in midair. She was fidgeting all over in my arms trying to get on the food.
"Art. We need to teach my niece to control herself with food." When I said that Tabitha and Alice laughed, while Arthur was scratching the back of his neck.
We started to eating our breakfast, it was great. Mother mentioned that usually the maids are the ones to cook but she wanted to cook today for us. Arthur made sure to give some of the bacon to Sylvie who didn't hesitate to gobble whatever entered her mouth, including his finger. Eventually, Ellie and Lilia both wanted to try feeding the baby dragon, needless to say, Sylvie warmed up to both of them a bit more after being fed.
When we finished to eat, Tabitha took us to a carriage. Xyrus was a amazing city, while in our main of transportation, I could see magic shops, armories, spell books, and even beast core shops, there was everything a mage could ask for. Adults and children were all dressed extravagantly while luxurious carriages passed alongside ours. And I also saw children a couple years older than me all wearing similar uniforms, they seemed to be students of Xyrus Academy.
We had eventually reached the fashion district of Xyrus. Arthur and I were used as mannequins for each ofthe girl's own preferences in style. Alice wanted to dress us in simple clothes, while Tabitha wanted to transform us into some sort of princes. Even Lilia made me try some clothes while Ellie was doing the same thing with Arthur. We ended up with more than ten different sets of clothes, half from Mother and the other half from Tabitha.
I really wanted to see the armory with Art, but the girls didn't want that we get closed to this, as we were forced to go into different jewelry and gem stores instead. If we want to visit the armory, we'll need to go with Reynolds.
Eventually, we arrived back home, with my body and mind weak for all that. I saw my father coming back home soon after.
"How was your day?" He chuckled asking, taking a seat next to us on the dining table.
"I never thought shopping could be so utterly tiring." Arthur groaned.
Vincent and Tabitha heard what he said, sitting next to us. "Haha! I hear you guys got drained by several women today!" Vincent exclaimed.
We just nodded as our faces lay in our arms. Tabitha smirked looking at our mother. "These little prodigies weren't as big of a deal as I thought." Lilia and Ellie both laughed at this.
"First rule of interacting with women... If they ask you to go shopping... Only go if you're prepared and in a good mood." I said this while lifting a finger, making Vincent and Reynolds laugh harder as they agreed with my statement.
After some time, a ringing sound followed by a knock on the door caught our attention.
"Oh! Looks like she's arrived!" Vincent got up and went to the entrance. By the looks of everyone else, only he knew who the person was on the other side of the door.
Vincent returned soon, guiding a Elderly woman to the room where we were, she had an outfit that seemed to be of high class for wizards, in addition to a wand with a white jewel on the end, I could even feel that the large and classic hat she wore, was sucking mana naturally for her. She was very tall for a average woman, about 1,7 meters. Her face had very soft features that reminded me more of a friendly grandmother next door than an all-important figure of power. I felt that her essence was very intense, not like mine and Arthur's, which symbolized that we were reincarnated, but hers seemed like someone who shouldn't be fooled in a fight.
"Rey, Alice, Arthur, Luz, I know you guys said that you want to put off school for later but I just couldn't hold it in. Everyone. Meet Cynthia Goodsky! She's the Director of Xyrus Academy."
Noticing the slight twinge of annoyance on our faces, Vincent immediately said. "Don't worry, I didn't bring her here to make you go to school right away. I just wanted her to meet you."
The Director gave us a smile that I couldn't quite underestand the meaning of and held out her hand. "Nice to finally meet both of you, Arthur and Luz."
"Um...nice to meet you too, Director, an old friend said about y-" I said shaking hands with her, but I was interrupted by a slap on the back of my head.
"Luz! You're being rude! I'm so sorry for my son, Director Goodsky. He has just returned home and is ignorant of formal customs." It was my mother who said after slapping me, but it didn't end there, she held my head as she forced me to bow on my knees. I could feel Arthur smirking behind me while this was happen. How stupid.
"Kukuku, no it is quite all right. No offense taken at all. And please, Luz, Arthur, you can call me Cynthia." She let out a polite laugh with her free hand covering her mouth.
"I'm sorry to intrude on you at such a late time, but unfortunately, the only free time I could make was after my meeting tonight. I hope you don't mind." She explained, looking at my parents.
"Nonono, we're thankful that you'd be willing to take time out just to visit our sons." Reynolds was the one to speak this time.
As I recall, in one of the casual conversations I had with Virion after our training sessions, he said that he knew the Director of Xyrus Academy well, to the point of teasing each other and making bets whenever possible. That being the case, I wanted to show her my full potential, as a Virion's disciple.
Director Cynthia nodded at this. "True, it isn't very often that I take a house trip to visit a potential student. Otherwise, even with a hundred bodies, I wouldn't be able to fit the time."
"However, Vincent is a good friend and has contributed greatly to Xyrus Academy. So when he had excitedly come up to me about two prodigies that are living in his home, I couldn't help but get excited as well. I must say that my curiosity got the best of me. Do you mind leading me to a open space so I can see a demonstration of both them?" She continued on, her gazed fixed at me and after at my brother.
"Can I at least eat din... Ouch!" My mother slapped my brother's butt before he could finish his sentence. He was just like me, wanting to eat something, but now really isn't the right time for this.
"Of course! Please follow us, Director Cynthia." My mother ushers him, leading Director Cynthia and I, while the rest followed.
Sylvie, who had been hiding underneath the dinner table from the unfamiliar human, trotted behind me and jumped to my arms, causing Director Cynthia to raise an eyebrow.
"Oh my... What a lovely mana beast. I assume it is your contracted beast, Luz?" She asked me while I patted Sylvie a little in her head.
"No, she is my brother's. She hatched a few months ago. Her name is Sylvie." I said while seeing my brother who was being held by the back of his shirt by our mother.
"I have to say, while it is common for nobles to buy beast to contract, I have never seen a mana beast like yours." She spoke looking for Arthur while trying to reach to pet Sylvie, but the baby dragon scampered away and climbed on top of my brother's head.
"Sorry, She's shy around strangers." we said in unison.
"I see... Well enought about her. Let us see if what Vincent said wasn't just exaggeration. He didn't tell me much expect that you're augmenters, saying the rest would be a surprise." Cynthia let out a wry smile, making Vincent blush.
I breathed a sigh of relief that she no longer wanted to focus on knowing what race Sylvie was.
We had arrived at the backyard and everyone took seats, giving us, Arthur, Cynthia and I, enough space, Sylvie struggling to escape the grasp of our little sister, who Arthur entrusted her with.
"You're not going to use your wand?" Arthur started stretching.
"It isn't very fair of me to be using a weapon when you two are children without anything in your hands." She gave us a wink.
"Actually... it's better you keep your wand with you..." I said while making a fire ball and a wind ball, each in one of my hands. "We were trained by an Elf Elder that said he knows you very well. So I think that we need to show you how were our training times with him..."
Cynthia's eyes widened at that information, already wondering maybe who this elf could have been, leaving her quite surprised, as she took her wand. "Was this the surprise Vincent wanted me to know?"
"... They didn't even know about it... Well, if that's the way it is. Let's do our best..." Arthur said giving the floor a strong stomp.
And now our little demonstration begins.
