Ch. 17 - Robbery in Broad Daylight!

The sun rose once more from the eastern horizon after Charlie convinced Grant yesterday to stay overnight at the Pokemon Center so that Charmander could get healed.

I didn’t mind whatsoever as we now left the Pokemon Center and walked towards the Viridian Forest. The excursion from last night did not bother me due to the bag of chips in my small yellow furry hands as I pulled a handful of the tasty morsel and plopped them into my mouth. Munching on them with a delighted face, stress lifted off of my body as the salty treat increased my happiness and, unfortunately, also my bulging stomach.

Feeling my round tummy, Charlie frowned and said, “Sax, no more. You already ate three bags last night, and at this rate, you’re going to finish another one before lunch. No more chips until the end of the week.”

Charlie used one of the hands holding me to his belly and took away my bag of chips. I reached out as my yummy goodness flew away before being rolled up and placed into Charlie’s backpack. I relented the desire to consume the entire bag as my stash of chips were almost gone. I needed more chips! I had to conserve them until the next town! I wish the Pokemon world had the ‘bag of holdings’ where you could stuff large amounts of chips into a storage item. But alas, not in this reincarnation.

Sike!

Bwahaha! This Pikachu was reborn with a storage space! I already sneaked away a bag into my storage space last night.

He. He. He. You took one, but I still have another, Charlie!

Grant looked at me oddly, and I faked a sigh from being unable to eat anymore chips. Suddenly a terrible thought crossed my mind, and my round black eyes narrowed at the well-dressed cool trainer.

Bro, better not be thinking about sneaking some of my chips! Or else Charmander is going to get more beatings so his trainer can buy me more snacks!

“I’m surprised your Pikachu likes human food so much. Did you always feed him like that?” Grant asked my trainer.

Charlie shook his head. “No, maybe it was his previous trainer?”

“His previous trainer?”

“Oh yea, I just recently caught Sax.”

“Really? Did you name him that? Sax is an odd name.”

You're odd! I glared at Grant and swore internally.

Charlie shook his head. “No, maybe his previous trainer did?”

“Wait. So how did you know your Pikachu’s name was Sax?”

My eyes widened. Oh, shit! That damn perceptive Grant is asking too many questions!

“Pi - ka!” I shouted, pointing to the entrance of the Viridian forest to draw away Grant’s and Charlie’s attention.

“Huh? What’s up, Sax? Did you see something?” Charlie asked, and luckily Grant didn’t have the time to keep buzzing his nosey-self where it shouldn’t be.

“Hey, Charlie. What’s that? Is that a Pokémon?” Grant said pointing near the direction I was randomly jabbing at.

Charlie and I both took a closer look to where Grant was pointing, slightly to the left of where I did. My eyes followed the verdant trees that lined the dirt road, leading to the opening of the dense sea of green that blotted out the area into a forest.

At first, I thought it was Bloodmoon Ursaluna, back for some revenge. But no, thank God, Arceus, no. It was not the murderous bear. I almost missed the small seemingly normal plant Pokemon with green leaves attached to a brown steam that led to a yellow pitcher plant for a head. Bellsprout blended in perfectly with the grass and weeds in the middle of the road. I was surprised a plant Pokemon was still in the Viridian Forest, seeing how Ursaluna went on a killing spree for the plant types.

The dainty plant Pokemon swiveled its lanky stem-like body, swerving threateningly at us.

“Bell, Bellsprout, Bellsprout!” It said, in a groggy nasally voice.

Dang it, I need to swap over to Pokemon. “Pika, Pika!” I said, meaning, repeat thyself, plant!

“Hand over the salty goods, and no one will be harmed.”

I deadpanned. I could not believe my ears! It was a stick-up! Bro, was trying to rob us! Nuh-uh. Not my chips!

I shouted back, “Over my dead body, ya little phony!”

“Phony? Phony! PHONY! I’ll show you who’s the phony! Take this! Vacuum Cut!”

“Vacuum cut? Hahaha! Bro that isn’t even a-“ I always had to say it. My eyes widened with alarm. “-Move. Oh, shit!”

Bellsprout moved like a dancing cactus, swerving madly like it was doing the wave. But its leafy blades glowed white, and a sudden gust blew from all around, shooting sharp circular rotating energy blades that cut everything in its path! A mass of translucent leaves rushed at us from every direction!

“Ah hell nah, Bruh!”

I leaped from Charlie’s hold into the air, combining Quick Attack into my body as I tried to quickly swat away the oncoming attack.

But there were just too many, and coming from all angles! The sharp energy blade cut my fur, giving me an unwanted trim. But that dang Bellsprout didn’t only target me! He literally came after everyone! Even Charlie and Grant!

“Pika!” I shout in alarm at the duo of trainers.

They guarded their heads with their arms, but the slashes lacerated their clothes and cut skin. I turned and glared at Bellsprout, who ran and flipped with cartwheels like a ninja toward Charlie!

“What the heck!? Stop attacking Charlie!” I shouted, discharging a Thundershock at Bellsprout.

But the dumb move on my part did little damage to the plant type Pokemon. Once my feet touched the ground, I dashed full speed after Bellsprout, lunging to tackle that damn Pokemon. But the dang pre-evolved plant pitcher was nimble! It played limbo, dodging me like the limbo bar, body bending almost to the ground.

My eyes widened as I kicked about midair. My arms flailed madly, quickly motioning for Charlie to jump out of the way. “Pika! Pika!”

Charlie ducked, but I was still going to ram right into my trainer! In the heat of the moment, all my senses turned on. Time slowed. Charlie still moved to crouch low to the floor, but given his size, it would be a head on collision!

Move, Sax! Move, dammit!

My body jerked instinctually from my beckoning. I flipped midair, twisting the muscles of my arms and abdomen into a forward roll as I used the tip of my tail to push me off the ground and angled slightly upwards. I came launching at Charlie, but my slight alteration lifted me high enough for my feet to run off Charlie’s back before landing and skidding across the earth as I raced back to face off the tricky bastard, Bellsprout.

However, as I looked on, the dang plant Pokemon was clumsily scrummaging through Charlie’s backpack on the ground!

“My chips!” I shouted but then abruptly halted. I dared not move another step.

“Don’t move! Or the Human gets it!” Bellsprout threatened, placing its glowing blade-like leaf near Charlie’s neck.

“Okay! Okay! You win! Just take the chips and go! Don’t harm Charlie!”

“You wanted to play the hard way, Pikachu,” Bellsprout said, taking the half rolled up bag of chips under its arms before awkwardly waddling into a run of flips and cartwheels.

I shook my fist in the air at the disappearing plant Pokemon, who raced into the Viridian Forest. “I will get you back for this, Bellsprout! This isn’t over! Karma’s a bitch! You hear me?! Karma’s a bitch!”

I swore Bellsprout flicked me off as it ran away with my salty snack, but I could be sure as it had no fingers. Rushing towards Charlie, I hopped around him, worried but unable to help, in fear I would touch his open wounds.

“Pika?! Pika, Pi!?”

“We’re ok, Sax. Don’t worry. It was just slight grazes.”

Grant looked around confused and asked, “What was that all about? Why did that Bellsprout attack us? But then it just ran away with something. What did it take?”

Looking at his torn backpack, Charlie said, “I think the Bellsprout stole Sax’s chips?” He pointed, and Grant and I followed the trail of chips that led into the Viridian forest.

Electric sparks flared dangerously from my cheeks, and I repeatedly punched my fist into my palm.

Bro stole my chips. It’s personal now.

“Um…Sax? You okay, buddy? Don’t worry, we can buy more chips in the next city.”

I pointed to the trail of chips.

“You want to follow the Bellsprout?”

I fervently nodded my head. Damn right, Charlie!

Charlie sighed. “Well, I guess we can, it’s along the way, anyway. Right, Grant?”

“Sure. I’m curious about the Bellsprout, too. It looked pretty well trained in my opinion. Maybe it belongs to someone?”

I turned and my eyes followed the trail of chips that led into the depths of the Viridian Forest. Wait for me, Bellsprout. This isn’t over yet.

I led the charge, trekking after the trail of chips. My heart ached, almost wanting to pick up the fallen chips and eat them. But this Pikachu was not ok with parasites. No more medical exams, thank you very much.

As we entered deeper into the forest, the tall, towering ancient trees stood high into the sky, casting shadows down to the forest floor. I was in no mood for delay. Any Pokémon that dared get in my way from jumping out of the tall grass beside the dirt road instantly faced the wrath of my Thundershock and ran away.

“Sax, hold up. I wanted to catch some more Pokémon!”

“Pika, Pi,” I said pointing to the trail of chips, worried they would be eaten by other Pokémon. No human or Pokémon could resist the crunchy delight. I already noticed some Rattata eating my stolen chips! They also ate my Thundershock, too!

Charlie sighed, “Fine, but you owe me, Sax.”

I turned around and nodded, feeling a bit guilty. But my ears jerked up as I heard the sound of munching crunchiness. I waved Charlie and Grant over as I quickly followed the all-to-familiar sounds of crunching chips as I moved past the trees and tall vegetation.

And there, behind all the overgrowth, was Bellsprout, the culprit for my stolen chips. But he wasn’t alone! He had a friend!

“I found you, chip-snubber! Or should I say, snubbers?!”

“What?! You dare follow me all the way here?! You haven’t learned your lesson after I beat you last time, have you, Pikachu?!”

“Beat me? You ran away!”

An unusual white lizard Pokémon with streaks of red scales running up its tail, looked at Bellsprout and said with a dubious scratchy voice, “Dude! You said someone gave you the chips, Jim! What’s going on?!”

“Shut up, Saladin! You happily ate them, too! So now, you’re involved!” Looking back at me, Bellsprout smirked. “Ha! With Saladin here, you’re in deep trouble, Pikachu!”

“Don’t loop me into this! What did you get into this time, Jim?! Annddii is going to be so mad.”

My head jerked at the Pokemon, who mentioned ‘Annddii.’

Annddii? As in the MOVE TUTOR Annddii?

I looked at the white-scaled lizard Pokemon, never seeing the Pokémon before. However, it looked strong, stronger than my level seven self. I needed to play my cards right to meet this, Annddii, and so I faked a cough to get the Pokemon’s attention.

“Ahem. Do you know, Annddii? How about we forget this ordeal if you take me to him?”
