Fennen awoke. Not really awoke as he never slept, but he had gotten used to the massive surges of pain throughout his body. He called these moments "being awake" and when they stopped was his resting time. The time of nothingness, his utopia, his paradise, his salvation.
It felt like it had been years since he had entered this state of pain and nothingness. He often pondered on why he was here. He had just been minding his own business, it had been an average day for him just studying for an exam, and now he couldn't even remember what his family had looked like. He was only driven by the hatred of the ludicrous pain, and the need to make whatever did this to him extinct.
And once again came the pain, however this time it was different. The pain seemed centralized on his chest. He had thought it was unbearable before, and this was one hundred times worse. If he could black out he would've, but in the state he was in he just had to endure it. It ended and suddenly, he could see.
It wasn't perfect, really blurry as if someone had taken a camera and was shaking it as fast as they could as they took a picture, but it was vision. It wasn't just hearing either, all of his senses returned. Rusty they were albeit, but they had returned. He could feel the pressure from what seemed to be water around him, a breathing mask strapped to his face, and the distorted people outside of the glass. It looked like he was in a test tube.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
He could hear faint noises from the people outside "w....id...t, .e....ack. he couldn't make out the words, but he could tell they were excited.
The liquid around him started draining, and slowly anticipation rose in Fennen's chest. He had waited so long for this moment, for the endless cycle of pain and nothingness to be over, and it was ending, he could finally be free. The water drained now, the people outside the tube opened the tube. People in robes, like the kind you would see a magician wear in a shitty fantasy show, really generic.
They ushered him out, asking how he felt and were talking about how much they missed him. Fennen didn't know any of them, how could they have missed him.
"Who are you all?" Fennen asked hesitantly as he got out. The man with the robes, highly decorated and of way better quality, that just screamed he was the leader of the group furrowed his brow. "Do you really not remember us brother?" He asked pulling out a monocle. He raised the monocle up to his eye and looked at Fennen through it.
"You, you're not our brother. Why are you here?" Fennen panicked, what was that monocle he thought as he answered hurriedly. He mentioned that he had just been studying for his college entrance exam when he was brought here, and that he didn't know why he was here.
After answering a few of the robed man's questions, he seemed mostly satisfied and asked one more question. "Where are you from?" This was the point where Fennen's life would be turned around. All because of one question, one mistake, and the belief that Fennen had that he was still on earth. "I'm from Canada" Fennen said, not understanding the grave mistake he had just made, and the fate he had sealed himself to.
Where the hell is that? This was the question going on through all of their minds. The leader was the one who presented said question. Fennen was extremely confused, how did they not know what Canada was. "Canada? Western hemisphere of earth?" Asked Fennen, very concerned.
The leader made a hand gesture, and everything went black
