The great battle

Seeing their underground capital destroyed by alien forces, the demons gathered at the Demon King’s castle, waiting for orders.

“Great King! Please, help us all! We do not know what to do.”

Said a demon, desperate to hold his children, or whatever it could be called; the small one was too bizarre to be called a child.

“Help us!”

“We don’t know what to do; please, give us your mighty guidance.”

“Great demon lord, help us!”

Many started to speak to the Demon Lord, who was still shocked by the attack.

“SILENCE! This one is still thinking about what to do. Our capital was suddenly and deliberately attacked by alien forces, and we still lack recognition of them.”

The Demon Lord said.

Everyone quieted. The demons recognized their lord’s wrath, and they knew that under his guidance, their race shall prevail.

Verris had arrived just in time to deliver news about the intruders.

“My lord, I have disturbing news regarding our enemies.”

“Speak.”

The Demon Lord was barely able to keep his usual composure. The stress was too much on him.

“My lord, our agents are 100% that our enemies are the very same as those who killed the Dragon Lord and the Forest King.”

“Oh… fuck-”

The demon lord almost said that loud but kept himself just in time. He knows very well that those folks are no joke; they killed his best subordinate. Yet the Dragon Lord wasn’t as strong as him; he was strong enough to catch the Demon Lord, so being easily killed meant that his murderers could kill him as well.

It was something really troublesome.

With those thoughts, the Demon Lord couldn’t lie to his people and say what he always said—that they would win without casualties.

“My people, I have something very important to say. I ask your attention.”

The Demon Lord had used the word "I," which means he was extremely serious.

The people, after hearing this, instantly froze and listened carefully. The last time their lord had used such a way to speak was when the hero almost invaded their city. The hero Kordak almost completely killed the Demon Lord; if it weren’t for the Demon Lord’s core, they would be done for.

“Those intruders are no mere folk. They are classified as a third-party power. We’ve been studying them for a while, and the more we find, the more terrifying they are. I fear this one cannot defeat them like I did with the hero Kordak. It means total defeat, and we must be ready for the consequences. Our race can be wiped off easily, as humans want. Unlike the certain death human victory pose, this third party's intentions are unknown so far, so we may have room for negotiations. Anyway, be ready for the worst, my people. It has been a pleasure to serve as the leader of the great demon race.”

The Demon Lord delivered an improvised and quick speech, addressing the magnitude of the threat.

“My lord, I’m going to fight alongside you.”

Verris said.

“No need; the demons need someone strong enough to guide them; you must be that one.”

“I cannot see you die again, My Lord.”

“Worry not, Verris. This one had faced many confrontations, and even the hero Kordak couldn’t kill me. If that monster couldn’t, who can?”

“Even so, they killed the Dragon Lord, my Lord. Please, let me fight alongside you!”

“In that case, this one does not oppose.”

“I shall bring victory, My Lord!”

The demons who could fight prepared, while the refugees fled.

…..

“That was AMAZING!”

Alex shouted at everyone’s head with the communication spell.

“Yes, I admit that seeing those demons dying is indeed amazing. It is almost like these creatures are born to die.”

Harper said, and something very unusual for him.

“I also granted that no death flags occurred, as I already married Jenifer.”

Michael said.

After hearing this, both Comoron and Emily felt their hearts' weight, as they knew they loved each other but just hadn’t realized it.

Comoron was still in fear of the Valkyries, but after some time with Emily, he calmed down, and now he’s ready to kill the demons as planned.

Alex opened his operational laptop and saw movement on the demon’s side. A high portion of the demons are escaping the cave, while the stronger ones stay to fight.

Alex saw this as an opportunity to assess the new molten Mithril bomb Emily designed to kill the Demon Lord. He launched one of them towards the demons fleeing.

As the bomb reached its target, all the demons died in unbearable pain. The mithril carved its way into their body, and their core vanished just like sand. It was an incredible sight, and the bomb was indeed terrifying.

Alex thought that if used on humans, they could face war crimes and human rights violations trials.

Well, fortunately, the demons aren’t humans, so they aren’t worthy of the effort to be given rights. Kill them just like you kill ants, Comoron repeated to himself.

All the demons escaping died, and no one was spared. Even the fighters accompanying them died too. At least 100 Valkyries died in this attack, and their “mighty force” did not pose any resistance to the power Alex unleashed upon them.

The warriors were desperate after seeing it. It almost looked like their family was killed in front of them... almost…

Well, it wasn’t Alex’s concern, nor anyone else but the demons.

The war was going smoothly for Alex and his group.

“A powerful warrior is leading the Valkyries guys! I will search for that hornie bastard, aka Demon Lord; so, take care of it.”

“Alright Alex.”

Harper said. He and Michael were piloting the same TM01, so they shared responsibilities for it.

“While you guys face the big boy, we will wipe off the small ones.”

Comoron said.

He surely wanted to fight the big fish, but the feeling of overwhelming weaker demons took the best of him. It was time to apply the oldest medicine on earth for those who feel the high and mighty, a bit of forced empathy, or just swap positions.

Well, things aren’t going to be sweet for the demons...

Comoron launched himself towards the swarm of demons, Valkyries, killing dozens in the blink of an eye.

The demons were tough, but one by one, they were killed by the sheer power of the TM01 he was driving.

Emily saw Comoron's excitement rise as he started to play with the bodies of the demons, but she couldn’t help it; after listening to his story with Demons, she just gave him the carte blanche to do as he wanted.

The demons may have a complex society, but they rely on destroying everything to survive. Well, humans also destroy things to survive, but they aren’t proud of that and constantly build new things and ways to solve that problem, while demons proudly destroy their environment and everything, even though such actions will surely lead them to destruction.

After seeing their comrades dying one by one, the Valkyrie’s rage started to take the best of them, and relentless attacks were made, but none of them made it. Every demon was slaughtered mercilessly, as they would have done to humans if in Comoron’s place.

Comoron found pride in doing it. He was doing the trash job no one wanted with such vigor and happiness that it barely could be said he was doing a job.

He would turn the demon city into a slaughterhouse of demons for the next 5 hours, while Emily would make for the rest, such as cooling the engines, replenishing the ammunition, and accessing social media to see memes as a distraction when things became boring.

Well, those two were surely having a great time together, while the demons were not.

On the other hand, Harper was having trouble leading with the demon subordinate.

The demon surely was a big deal; Harper was having a hard time, and the enemy had just evaded a small mithril shot; and as they were expensive, it meant bad news.

“Who are you guys?”

The demon suddenly spoke. He used the kingdom language, as he wasn’t sure if they could understand demons.

“We speak your language, bastard. As for who we are... Well, just know that your boss has quite a lot of gold with him, so we came here to reclaim that, as they were originally stolen.”

Harper said.

“Harper, are you sure it is a good decision to start a conversation with this guy?”

Michael said.

“No, but this guy is strong; we will see what we can take from him.”

“Sure…”

As Michael expressed his concerns, the Demon replied to Harper.

“Stolen gold? Hahahaha, don’t make me laugh, human. We took that gold from weaklings such as your foe. They are OURS now; don’t you dare touch your dirty hands on them.”

The demon said.

“Yours? As you stole the gold, we are reclaiming it. There’s a saying I heard on a series I’ve watched; I think it was a Spanish one, I can’t remember; well, if you stole something, that thing isn’t yours. I take it seriously. We cannot say that something we stole is ours, but as we aren’t stealing but reclaiming, that gold will fall into our hands soon, bastard.”

Harper said.

“Foolish human, don’t you know how many tried it and failed miserably?”

“I don’t, and I also don’t care. Many probably tried, but I doubt they had been so far.”

“Fuck!”

The demon swore as he lost patience. He had just lost an argument with a human.

“No time to talk, bitch. It is a good day to die, isn’t it?”

Harper said it to the demon.

“Hahahaha, foolish. Well, as you have been a serious threat, I shall recognize you as such. My name is Verris, the one who shall kill you.”

“Name’s Harper, and I will make you regret living, bitch.”

Harper started to use some dirty words to irritate the demon. He had known the kinds of formal guys, and the best way to beat them was by crushing their cool.

“I shall recognize you as my enemy, Harper.”

“I appreciate the thought, but as people say, we cannot take a child’s threat seriously. Well, time to die, Demon.”

As Harper said it, he launched a barrage of missiles into Verris.

One of his arms and the tail were crushed and vaporized; also, all of his body was covered by third-degree burns, and he had lost one eye.

The demon Verris looked defeated, or at least a normal human would be. He suddenly recovered his body, and everything regenerated back to normal.

“Good try, human. So, these are the weapons that killed many of our folks? Interesting, but it’s not enough to kill a high-ranking demon fool!”

Verris proudly said.

“I know that. After reviewing how my friend killed a dragon, we understood we needed magical power to inflict real damage. All the damage we had just done is just a way to test the physical resilience of your body.”

Harper said.

“And what? You can explode my body as much as you want; in the end, I will recover just fine.”

Verris said.

“Are you sure about that?”

When Harper said it, Michael launched a small Mithril missile into the demon, destroying a part of his body again.

The demon couldn’t recover from this injury.

“It is Mithril. You know what it does mean.”

“The magic threat to demons? I understand it is a strong weapon, but let me say: I am not the demon lord’s closest aid for nothing.”

As Verris said it, he transformed into a bigger, tougher, and stronger version of himself.

And the injuries were recovered in the blink of an eye.

This guy is troublesome, Harper thought.

“Bigger, uh? We will just have a bigger buffet this way.”

Harper joked with the situation, but internally, he was a little afraid of the new version.

As they were fighting, Alex finally found the Demon Lord.

He was sitting idly as if he were already waiting for Alex.

Inside TM01, Alex felt the immense energy the demon lord possessed. It was not even nearly compared to the Dragon King.

As Alex approached the demon lord, his TM01 started to tremble.

“May this one know your name, intruder?”

The Demon Lord finally spoke.

Alex didn’t answer. He continued to approach the demon lord. Even though he was far, the demon lord’s voice reached him. Guess that’s the power of a king.

As he came closer and closer, the TM01 trembled more and more, until one of the engines broke.

Alex had to activate the emergency to land the TM01 safely.

He turned the ground engines on; they had to work for now.

Alex had finally seen the demon Lord clearly. He was sitting in a tree as if meditating.

Alex didn’t think much about it; he just felt as if, so he launched 20 small mithril-guided missiles into the Demon Lord.

They all exploded, but the demon lord was unscratched.

He was stronger than Alex thought, but it wasn’t a problem since they came ready for that.

Alex launched another barrage of Mithril missiles and a fragmentary Orichalcum bomb. It wasn’t much, since depleted uranium is an expensive material, but the material was strong enough to cause some damage to the Demon Lord.

As it exploded, the demon lord vaporized instantly.

But it obviously wasn’t over. As soon as the demon’s core reacted, all of the demon lord’s matter reunited, and he was there again.

“You are worth being this one’s enemy. This one shall release its full power!”

The demon lord then entered on his combat form.

His arms doubled in size, his chest gained a metal cover, and his head was covered by a helmet, emphasizing the horns on his head.

His body gained much more mass, and then, finally, the demon lord’s eyes went from a purple blur to a red glow.

“First, speak properly, motherfucker! Second, I like this form way more; I can serve my daughter a good dinner tomorrow using the extra mass!”

Alex said, salivating at his intentions.

“So, for you, it is just about turning this one into food? Well, this one shall show you it will not work as you want.”

“You speak much for food; shut your fuck up!”

Alex said.

“You enrage this one speaking with such disrespect. Even humanity’s hero Kordak spoke to this one more respectfully.”

The demon lord said, and then he attacked the TM01 Alex was driving.

The attack was powerful, but the energy shields contained it.

The damage wasn’t little though. It used 5% of the entire shield’s energy. That shield was supposed to withstand a 100-kiloton nuclear strike and still have 30% of the shield energy left.

Doing some basic calculations, 70% of the shields withstand 100 kilotons, so 5% needed something about 7.1 kilotons, enough to destroy half the area the Hiroshima bomb destroyed.

“That wasn’t a powerful strike. My shields easily took that. My turn now!”

Alex said. He bluffed about the shields as a way to intimidate the Demon Lord. Alex hopes it does work.

“It wasn’t even 10% of my total strength. Show this one more, human.”

The demon lord said. He was shocked that his most powerful strike didn’t even scratch that thing’s shields. That battle would be tough for both sides.

Alex released one of the Mithril missiles into the demon lord, but it barely made any scratch.

The demon lord surely felt the pain. That disturbing pain that comes with the worst attacks. Molten Mithril hurt him so much that he thought it was hell.

“It won’t work, foolish human!”

The demon lord said.

“We will see.”

Alex then started to shoot the orichalcum bullets.

It penetrated hard on the demon lord’s skin, almost reaching his core.

But it wasn’t enough to destroy the core. Something the books didn’t show is that it takes more than just Orichalcum to kill the demon lord’s core. Otherwise, his core would be destroyed when the hero’s sword passed through his core.

But the demon lord felt the pain in his chest with that shot. He was withstanding incredible pain in this fight.

Alex thought the demon lord was oddly resistant, but he surely saw that he was becoming weaker.

The Demon Lord attacked again using the same strike, but twice the power it previously had.

“Take that, little human.”

The demon lord said after releasing his powerful strike.

Alex’s shield withstood it, losing 12% of its energy.

Almost 20% were gone by now. The war of attrition would be expensive for both sides.

Alex started to feel afraid as his shield’s energy was being sucked at disproportional rates.

"Another failure, Mr. Demon Lord?”

Alex said. He started to play a bet. If the demon lord thought the powerful strikes weren’t enough to kill his shields, the demon lord would have to cast weaker spells and not waste his energy.

“You will not leave here after what you’ve done to this one’s city.”

“I already told you to speak properly, motherfucker?”

“Watch your mouth, human.”

The demon lord, irritated, cast three powerful spells at Alex.

If it didn’t work, his shields would be indestructible. He had to try it no matter what. He couldn’t let this monster regroup and attack again.

The attack exploded half of the place, leaving nothing but destruction around them. Yet Alex was safe and sound inside his TM01.

“LEAVE THIS MACHINE, COWARD! FACE THIS ONE LIKE A MAN!”

The demon lord said.

“SPEAKS PROPERLY, SON OF A BITCH!”

“THIS ONE SPEAKS THE WAY THIS ONE WANTS!”

“Then, go fuck yourself!”

Alex said. After saying it, he launched three fragmentary orichalcum bombs with molten Mithril. The attack scratched the Demon Lord’s core, but it wasn’t enough to kill him.

“Amazing! To be able to touch this one’s core with only it!”

The Demon Lord said.

Alex started to feel the pressure of the war. His shields have no more than 30% of the energy left.

“So, I touched your core with this attack? I’m honored.”

“Finally showed some respect towards this one, uh?”

“Neither in hell, bitch.”

“Well, this one shall send you shockwaves of destruction then!”

The demon Lord released another bunch of spells. Alex’s shields couldn’t withstand that anymore; he had clearly lost the attrition battle, so he urgently needed another approach.

“I will not give up easily!”

Alex then poured his own magical power inside the fragmentary grenade of orichalcum and mithril. It conducted the power with ease.

The demon lord was preparing his attack; it was all or nothing now. Either Alex saturates the magical metals in time, or he would die from this attack. Even if he manages to do it, this may only delay his death. In the worst-case scenario, Alex thought of releasing this monster in the Germanium Reich’s capital. The idea wasn’t the best, but it could work.

As Alex and the Demon Lord clashed against each other, Harper and Michael were having a bad time against Verris.

“You cannot kill me, humans. My core is stronger than mere demons. Such weapons as yours aren’t capable of killing us, only hurting or delaying our movements. Accept your defeat, humans; I shall deal with your execution in the most painful way. Do not resist.”

“Like in hell that we would surrender, bitch!”

Harper said.

“Oh, you released every powerful attack you had, and even so, you couldn’t kill me? Enough! Stop irritating me, humans.”

Verris said.

“Irritating you? Hahaha, we will not back down to a bitch. Die as you are supposed to and shut your fuck up, demon!”

Harper said.

“Harper, maybe if we launch the molten Mithril missile?”

“Hadn’t we launch them already?”

“We did only the small ones; I’m talking about the big ones. The one that has orichalcum particles as well.”

“Oh, the big! It is a good idea, and it may work. Prepare to launch, Michael.”

“Alright!”

Harper kept Verris in check while Michael prepared to launch the fragmentary missile.

“Demon, I shall grant you my strongest attack. Please, don’t die.”

Harper said while he launched another intense barrage of missiles. Each one contains small amounts of molten metal.

“Those irritant arrows! IT WON’T KILL ME!”

Verris said.

“Won’t kill but will delay.”

“Wait, WHAT?”

As Verris said that, Michael launched the big guy, exploding Verris.

Everything that remained was minced meat, burning meat, the rest of the guts, the brain, and whatever demonic that purple liquid may be.

Above it all, a perfectly circular shadow, almost invisible, slowly trying to leave.

“We won’t let you!”

Harper said.

He started shooting orichalcum bullets at it, each taking away part of its energy.

But no matter how much they shot at it, there was no sign of destruction.

They had a pretty low supply of orichalcum bullets available, so they had to figure out why it wasn’t working.

“Call Comoron; he may know what to do.”

“Good idea, Harper.”

As Michael said it, they called Comoron. He didn’t answer, so they called Emily.

“Hello, how can I help you?”

Emily said, almost bored.

“That’s some pretty shocking reaction, seeing that we are at war right now.”

“Well, actually, Comoron is having the time of his life killing demons. I’m just helping him, but as he’s just running over the demons and turning them into minced meat, I don’t have to replenish the storage, so I’m quite bored.”

“Good for you... Well, we may have something for you then. Ask Comoron how to kill a floating dark circle. We need an answer urgently, as we are almost running out of bullets.”

Harper said.

“Okay, leave it with me.”

Emily got up and asked Comoron.

“Comoron, how can we kill a dark sphere floating?”

“Wait, DID THEY DEFEAT THAT DEMON? ALREADY?”

“It has been three hours since they started to fight.”

“THREE? I thought it had been only 15 minutes.

“Well, you are actually enjoying killing demons so much that you lost track of time and missed their call.”

“Oh… Well, sorry for that, hahaha.”

Comoron laughed.

“To kill that sphere, just inject holy magical power into it. If you can’t, pure magical power may work as well, but you need twentyfold the amount.”

“Alright, I’ll tell them.”

Emily said.

“Guys, inject magical power at the core; it may kill it. Holy attribute, if it doesn’t work, just inject pure magical power.”

“Thanks”

Harper said.

“You’re welcome.”

Emily replied.

“Michael, let’s inject magical power into it.”

“Alright.”

As Harper and Michael injected magical power into the bullets, the core slowly started to form a new body.

“He’s reuniting again! SHOT!”

Michael shouted

Without thinking much, Harper shot the magical bullet straight into the middle of the core.

It shattered the perfect sphere, and an ominous purple cloud emanated.

“Is he dead?”

Michael asked.

“I doubt it.”

Harper replied.

“AHH, I don’t give a fuck anymore! If we cannot kill this monster conventionally, let me try this.”

“What will you do, Michael?”

“Kill that thing with my own hands.”

Michael left the TM01 as he said it. Two Valkyries launched themselves against him, but Harper easily countered them.

“You owe me this one, buddy.”

Harper said while laughing.

“Then, you owe me that too.”

Michael said it while casting fire at the clouds, burning them all.

"I... am... sorry... My... Lord…...”

Verris said his last words, and then he disappeared forever.

“Now we killed that bastard!”

Michael proudly shouted.

“Yes, we did, my friend! Now come back to the TM01; it is still dangerous outside. What is Comoron doing, by the way? He was supposed to fight the easier enemy; why is he taking this much?”

Harper said.

“I don’t know; maybe there’s too many of them?”

“Make sense…”

As Harper said it, Michael finally entered the TM01.

“Well… It was a good fight, but I don’t like the fact that we barely made it.”

Harper stopped in the middle of the sentence, dropping his smile instantly.

“What was that, Harper?”

Michael asked.

“It’s Alex. His TM01 had been destroyed entirely.”

“NO! Please tell me he’s ok!”

Michael desperately asked.

“I cannot say that.”

“FUCK!”

Michael and Harper tried to contact Alex desperately via a magical communication spell.

It didn’t work.

Did not work...

…..

..

When Alex was almost done pouring magical power into the fragmentary bomb, the demon lord released his attack, destroying the TM01 Alex was using. The entire wall was destroyed, and Alex was caught in the fire.

He did not die, though. The attack almost didn’t scratch him because Alex had prepared the emergency shields and activated his own magical shield.

It consumed a lot of his mental energy to cast all those spells. Alex was exhausted, but he had to finish this fight.

“Just like the Hero Kordak, uh...”

The demon Lord muttered.

“The hero and I have a significant difference. He had failed; I hadn’t.”

Alex said. After saying it, he took a mithril pipe covered in orichalcum nails, something he had prepared for the fight in case of the destruction of the TM01.

Alex launched the magically powered fragmentation bomb with orichalcum at the Demon Lord.

It exploded the entire body of the Demon Lord, leaving only a purple and red, dark, cloudy sphere behind.

“Human, you cannot kill me. My core was already destroyed before, and it is a matter of time before I recover, just like I did with the hero Kordak. You are stronger than him. May I know your name, warrior?”

The demon lord said.

“Finally speaking properly? Well, it is such a pity; I do not talk with my food.”

Alex picked up his mithril pipe, inserted magical power into it, and shattered the demon lord’s core.

All the clouds began to spread.

“So, this is how you escaped? Well, I just have to get rid of the cloud then."

Alex said.

After saying that, Alex cast a freezing spell, turning all the clouds into solid purple and red ice.

“So, this is the demon lord’s final form? The body was only a vessel? Interesting…”

Alex said.

The amount of cloudy ice Alex had made was something about 4 liters.

“This is the body; the meat must be preserved. I will store it before it rots away.”

After saying it to himself, Alex noticed the purple liquid leaving the demon lord’s body. Without thinking much, he took a sample and tasted it.

“Sweet!”

Alex shouted, almost as if he had a genius idea.

He poured the cloudy ice into a box, mixing it with the liquid. Then he infused it with a touch of his own magic, coaxing a creamier texture from the mixture.

He took a spoon and tasted it.

“AMAZING! This is just like ice cream! Luna will love it!”

Alex said.

After defeating the Demon Lord, Alex visited the remnants of the Demon Castle.

The throne room. It was empty, and not a single soul remained from the attack. The bombs had done their job perfectly, but there was only one thing Alex was interested in.

While fighting against the Demon Lord, he set the arachnoid drones to search for the treasure room. Just after defeating the demon lord, it had found its way.

Alex opened the room. Pulling the door took a lot of strength, but he managed to finish the task.

Inside, there were a lot of jewels—gold, silver, everything a man can dream of—natural diamonds measuring entire 30 cm in radius, of all colors. Everything was perfect. The amount of gold placed there was not low as well. Alex could count at least 750 tons of gold. Enough money for the rest of his life.

“I just hit the jackpot, lol!”

Alex shouted happily.

He soon called everyone.

“Guys, I’m alive. Unfortunately, I lost the TM01, but I discovered something incredible. I’m taking it all with me in my storage. I’m sending my location; I need someone to take me in.”

Alex said.

“You are okay! THANKS GOD YOU ARE OK!”

Harper shouted.

“Sorry for almost dying. Well, I’m waiting for you guys.”

“I’m still taking care of the rest of the Valkyries.”

Comoron said.

“Well, then I will leave you doing the job there. You know where to find us when you finish.”

Alex said.

“Okay.”

Comoron replied.

“Then, time to go. I’m waiting for you, Michael, and Harper.”

Alex said.

After that, he waited for them for 15 minutes. When they finally came, Alex opened a portal to the Summerville’s base.
