The Diretorium's Oceans

As Alex suggested, they should ask for one of those Asmerian ships help, and everyone agreed. They would soon flee from the shit they are.

“Ok, I think that if we approach that red, white, and blue ship over there, we may flee to the Unified Republics, which is our best choice.”

Alex said this while pointing to a ship on the left side of the harbor.

“Ok, let us go. This filthy atmosphere of this country is making me sick.”

Harper said. Being in the Germanium Reich for less than a month was already enough for him to feel hatred for their country.

As Michael and Comoron agreed to it, they approached a sailor who was fixing his boat.

According to Michael’s information, this guy has high odds of being Asmerian.

"Hello, sir, we have reasons to believe you are Asmerian.”

Alex said it in a formal tone. The sailor looked up, just to see four men, two of them monstrously built.

“Ah, those fucking officers again! Twice a day already, well, fuck it.”

the sailor said. He was a man with a big belly and 5’8’’ height. That man had a wrench in his hands and protective glasses.

“Sir, I think that you misunderstood what we were trying to say. We are refugees, and we seek help.”

Alex said it was still formal.

“Oh, you speak Asmerian... Well, *officer*, I do not help fleeing refugees. Now that we are done with the useless formality, get the hell out of my sight, stinky official.”

the sailor said. Alex, seeing that this man was suspicious of them being officers, tried a different approach.

“Ah, wanna know? Fuck it! We aren’t refugees; we are foreigners who seek opportunity. We ended up in this *shit* country after some teleport issues, and we want to get out. We offer you 1 kilogram of pure gold if you help us get to the Unified Republics of Asmeria.”

Alex said, now in an aggressive and informal tone. The man looked up, surprised. He was now sure that these guys weren’t officers; there was no way an officer would say so bad things about their own country.

“Okay, you convinced me. This boat, there’s no way it fits 5 people, at maximum, 2. We will have a crazy travel hehehe”

The sailor said this while he was laughing. He would receive 1 kilogram of pure gold from these guys, even though his boat would stress out a little. It was a cheap thing made 50 years ago, and there are already signs of malfunction.

He used it mainly to buy and sell electronics or to fish.

“Well, we aren’t in a situation where we can choose, are we?”

Alex said it in an ironic tone, almost laughing.

“Alright. We have a deal then. Gimme that gold, and in 5 hours we will leave.”

the sailor said.

Alex then gave the gold to him. The man took it, bit, and then smiled.

“Well, it seems legit. I surely wasn’t expecting you to have this quality of gold, but it wasn’t like I would mind unpure gold if you gave it to me. Well, in 5 hours we will leave; until then, take these clothes; you won’t look like an officer anymore.”

the sailor said.

It was true that Alex and his squad looked like government officials. They couldn’t look like refugees, so they had formal clothes within them. Well, it didn’t matter after all.

“Oh, by the way, my name’s Tom; what’s yours?”

Tom, the sailor, said. They didn’t introduce themselves until now.

“My name is Alex. This guy with funny ears is Comoron, this femboy there is Harper, and this blondie is Michael.”

Alex said he was surely at ease with all. Alex was even joking about his friends.

Harper was the first to shout things like “Shut up” and “I ain’t a femboy, sucker." As for Comoron and Michael, they didn’t mind after all. Comoron knew his ears were funny for people who had never seen an elf before, and Michael was actually blond, so there’s no problem.

“Well, I see that you folks are close, hahaha. In 5 hours, we leave. Be ready. Until then, go eat something. I recommend you do it now; the ocean here is aggressive. I don’t want you guys to vomit in my boat.”

Tom said.

The squad thanked the old man while going to eat something. Even though that place was a shitty country, they could at least have good cuisine.

The four of them left the harbor and headed to a café nearby. That place had a good smell coming from them; they would at least try.

“Okay. We will eat, and then buy stuff for fishing. We earned some good money after all.”

Alex said.

“Yes. We thought that the nightclub wouldn’t profit much, and we could cover our gold money using false profit in the fiscal notes, but in the end, we barely could. It was so much money that it let us speechless for an entire week.”

Harper noted.

Well, they surely were profiting so much that it wasn’t possible to quickly wash the money they earned selling gold, but they don’t even need to wash it. The profits were so big that they could live on that money.

But they have bigger goals. Living in a nightclub in a falling-down state wasn’t their final goal. Alex had already started searching for a new state for them, and Harper started to look for spacecraft prices and potential services to earn that money. As people already say, the sky is the limit, and when it is reached, only then do you understand that you are limitless.

As they started to reach the café, Alex asked for pure coffee, while Harper asked for a cappuccino, and Michael and Comoron asked both for a cup of tea.

Comoron thought that the coffee was too strong for him, while Michael started to complain about sleepless nights, so it was better for him to avoid coffee for a while.

They talked about their future plans for a while, obviously in English, so the people there couldn’t understand them. Strangely, English and Asmerian sounded quite similar in tone and structure, only the words were different. As someone who can’t speak English, Emily noted that both languages were extremely similar.

As time passed, they entered an alley that nobody was watching, and they teleported to Earth.

They had 4 hours, so they would buy a lot of fishing equipment and items to guarantee that their travel would go smoothly.

Alex bought an engine, some pairs of oars, swimming clothes, and six oxygen tanks.

Michael bought rain clothes, a thermal cover to avoid hypothermia, canned food, and other things.

As for Harper, he bought some books to read and some medicine. In that last one, he opened a portal and teleported to Japan, where he could find some good medicine for an affordable price. It was quite fun, to be honest; he found an otaku in the street. They both talked about anime and stuff for an entire hour, and Harper left his contact number with him. That guy was surely fun; he really wanted to show him magic and the portal.

And lastly, Comoron. He finally started to understand how Earth works, and seeing that other world, he could finally start to break his medieval view. Comoron bought an AR-15 rifle, 10 magazines, and a military knife that he promptly changed its material to a magical alloy using carbon fibers and magical particles he had done in his research time. Comoron had a good knife within him, but after seeing the happiness in Comoron’s face after seeing the guns firsthand, Alex bought for him a Glock and a Desert Eagle.

They were so immersed that they barely made it in time. They had four hours to buy things, but after three hours and a half, they noted that they had missed their time. Gladly, they still made it in time. Alex stored everything in his spatial storage, and they teleported back to that same alley.

Happily, they still managed to reach the sailor in time. Everything was ready, and they would leave now.

The Unified Republics are 4 thousand miles away from the Reich, so they had a long journey ahead.

Everyone entered the boat, and after 30 minutes, the engine started to work, and they finally fled.

It was obvious that the boat couldn’t fit them all, as it was already at its limit. But they didn’t care much. The speed was good, and Alex's spare engine saved their lives. Tom really wanted to know how he got his hands on a boat engine; even though its technology is inferior to the one he is using in his boat, it wasn’t far behind. Alex just said that he found a guy that was selling old stuff, and he found a whole boat engine.

Comoron was interested in Harper’s otaku stories, so he joined him. Alex and Tom started to talk about how freedom is the only plausible way of life, and as for Michael, who was sleeping, no body is made of iron after all.

Everything was irregular and dangerous, but fortunately it went smoothly, and they traveled for four hours.

After a while, they were finally leaving the Reich’s continental platform and officially entering international waters. Alex could see the trash in the oceans. The water was blue, but there were lots of scraps above it. Tom looked at him, and with a sad expression, he said

“When my father taught me how to fish and drive a boat, the water wasn’t this dirty. The ocean had beautiful, clean blue water that reflected the sun, but now, everywhere I go, I can find trash in the ocean. Sometimes I ask myself, How nice it would be to explore the waters in an era where there wasn’t any plastic or sewage everywhere.“

After hearing Tom’s complaints about the trashy water, Alex could feel that he was right in bringing plastic packages to the kingdom. Even though they were earning a lot of gold by selling cheap stuff, they at least have a long-term mentality.

“To be honest, I know a place that has a very clean ocean. You cannot find any modernity; there aren’t microplastics everywhere, and your skills would surely bring you a lot of money. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you much about it.”

Alex said. He really liked his talk with Tom, but he couldn’t show his own powers to everyone. Comoron was an exception because he was the first otherworlder they met. As for Emily, she already discovered them before, so there aren’t many cons to getting her to see their good side and joining them.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

They had to be careful; Alex almost let words and his powers slip.

As they were talking, Alex grasped five germanium boats on the horizon. They were red and white, with a black symbol. Even at this, that disgusting Reich had to be similar.

“Okay guys, this is bad. Germanium boats are approaching.”

Tom said.

“It isn’t like they know us, so why are they coming?”

Alex asked

“To be honest, this boat is clearly far from meeting legal standards. We have two engines working, and they are overweighted by at least twice. It would obviously pick up their attention.”

Tom said.

“But don’t worry. I would help you guys even if it were for free; the gold was just a plus. I understand that the Reich is shit, so don’t worry. The only issue is that I cannot return to the Reich anymore. I will really miss their waters.”

Tom reiterated.

“When you speak that way, it really sounds odd.”

Alex said.

That guy lost his job trying to save them, and Alex couldn’t let it happen. They had to do something, even if it was little.

Harper stopped reading his book after Tom said that the Germanium boats were coming. He looked into Alex’s eyes, and they were looking back at Harper. He understood what it meant, and they opened their spatial storage and grabbed some of their guns.

“How the fuck did you grab these weapons? Wait, now that we are into this, let's take one of them.”

Tom said. He was really surprised at how these guys just popped a weapon in their hands, but more than surprised, he was happy. Now, they had a way to fight.

“We are glad you asked. We have plenty of guns in our arsenal.”

Alex said, and after that, he used his spatial storage to bring more weapons, all of them lined up on a table.

“Hmm. They are like weapons from 50 years ago, but still lethal. I’ll go with this automatic rifle.”

Tom said they would have to wait until the germanium boats approached.

They stopped their boat, so the Germanium marines won’t suspect anything. It is only a normal procedure.

Alex could teleport to somewhere else and wait for Tom to clarify things, but they wouldn’t. They don’t know if the portal can work on moving bodies or just in a fixed location. Alex wouldn’t pay the price to test it out, so it was better for them to wait in the boat.

Now that it has come into this, they will have to fight.

They waited for 15 long minutes, when they finally heard a mechanical voice:

“This is the Germanium Marine; your boat clearly does not meet the legal standards! Identify yourself now!”

One of the boat speakers shouted at them.

“It is now or never; what will we do? We can just pretend to identify ourselves like usual, and when they come, we shoot at them, or we will just shoot and hopefully kill a few of them.”

Tom said. He really hated the germanium officials. His attitude was clearly that of someone who had never killed even a chicken before, but that wouldn’t change the fact that he was ready to kill these scum.

“Ok. I think that a mixture of each one of them is ideal. We pretend to identify ourselves, and when they approach us, we kill them mercilessly.”

Alex said. He really wanted to evaluate his new magical arsenal, as did Comoron, who said:

“Wait. I’ll test a new spell that I created. It can basically take the form of anyone and create a hologram of them.”

“Okay, go ahead.”

Alex agreed.

“Spell? What are you guys talking about?”

Tom asked.

“Just wait, and you will see.”

Harper said.

After that, Comoron cast his spell with a really short chant, and everything went smoothly. After he finished the spell, Tom’s figure appeared outside the boat on the deck. It started to raise its hands and shout things like “I surrender," “I am innocent,” and “Let’s do things the legal way.”.

It worked; the Germanium boats approached their boat defenselessly, and after they reached fire range, Alex cast a physical barrier.

They cannot escape anymore. It will be a slaughter. After thinking of the blood scene, they would have now seen Alex start to laugh like a maniac. Something in him had changed.

“FIRE!”

Alex shouted. Tom could barely start to fire when Harper, Comoron, Michael, and Alex started to shoot and cast spells. He really didn’t understand that spell part, but he didn’t care about it; they were at his side after all.

Instantaneously, three of the five boats started to ignite. The crew jumped using the emergency protocols.

The two remaining boats tried to call for external help, but Alex’s barrier blocked every physical and electromagnetic wave. Light waves were the only thing that Alex programmed to escape; as for radio and other electromagnetic waves, they really couldn’t.

Without being able to communicate, the boats started to shoot.

“ENEMY ATTACK, I REPEAT, ENEMY ATTACK! CAPTURE THE SUBJECTS ALIVE IF YOU CAN, LETHAL FORCE PERMITTED”

The speakers shouted again. That language really sounded like German for some reason.

Well, they were literally a cyberpunk Nazi Germany, so there weren’t reasons to have mercy on them.

The boats activated a kind of magnetic barrier that deflected the bullets.

It wasn’t working; they would lose. Bad thing they underestimated these dictators.

“Fuck it, we have two boats to kill. Whatever, Tom and Comoron, you guys kill the people who are trying to save themselves using the inflatable boats. They aren’t friends, and we cannot take prisoners of war. Well, think of them as the worst criminals who will be executed anyway.”

Alex said.

“And as for you, Harper and Michael, attack the smaller boat. I’ll attack their main vessel.”

Alex said.

After that, Alex activated his super jump spell and jumped straight into the main vessel the Germanium Reich Marine had there. It wasn’t something as big as a cruiser, but it was still a notable boat with an estimated crew of 20 members.

As for Harper and Michael, both of them jumped in the smaller boat. It had an estimated crew of 10 members. 5 for each one of them; it wasn’t a bad thing.

….

..

‘After explaining everything for them, I jumped into the main vessel of that shitty marine. I won’t spare anyone of them; everyone will die here.

I usually don’t have this kind of thought, but after seeing this country, I can’t simply forgive these people. They won’t have a fair trial. So, in that case, I’ll be the judge. And as the judge, I declare them guilty, and their penalty will be death.’

Alex thought.

“How the fuck could you jump that distance? Well, it doesn’t matter; surrender now!”

One of the Germanium marines shouted.

“Surrender? For you guys? Hahahaha, you make me laugh. No one will survive. Hahaha… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

Alex started to maniacally laugh.

He cast a wind cutter spell and cut off that man’s hands. He started to cry in pain, but Alex couldn’t care less about it.

He took that marine’s head by its hair and asked

“Let’s play a game. Where is the commander of this vessel?”

Alex asked. He wasn’t blinking, and his eyes were really open. It was bizarre.

“I will never tell you anyth- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.”

The marine was trying to say that he wouldn’t say anything when Alex cut off one of his feet.

“I won’t ask again, where is the fucking commander?”

Alex calmly asked.

“I was trained; you won’t have any information from me, even with tortu- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH.”

The guy tried to say things again, now in extreme pain, when Alex picked up a knife and cut the marine’s stomach. He grabbed the small intestine of the guy and pointed a knife at it.

“Last chance, where is the commander?”

The marine wasn’t caring much about his hands and feet because they could be easily replaced surgically, but now this guy would kill him.

He was bleeding a lot, and the pain couldn’t be measured.

“I… “

The Marine couldn’t speak.

“Oh, I forgot that you can’t speak when you are like this. Let me fix it.”

Alex said, and after that, he cast a cure spell. It wasn’t like the panacea, but it could at least heal his wounds to the point where he could speak.

“Impossible… What are you doin- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH”

The guy tried to ask Alex something else, but Alex didn’t care. He burned that man’s chest with a fire spell.

“Where is the commander?”

Alex asked. He was losing his patience.

“He’s in the main cabin; just climb those stairs over there and enter the elevator.”

The marine said:.

Alex could tell that he was lying.

“You lost your chance. Adios”

Alex cut off the marine’s head. He started to kick the man’s head while laughing.

He knew where the commander was; he just wanted to test that man’s loyalty. Even though he was dying, he still chose the Reich.

He climbed the stairs, and instead of picking up the elevator, he cast an explosive spell that created a crater in the vessel’s wall. He saw a hall leading to the main cabin, with nine marines guarding the door. Alex didn’t care much; while laughing, he launched a napalm at them. He took the substance from his storage and burned alive all of the men there alive.

Instead of letting them burn, Alex continually launched healing spells to keep them alive. They had to suffer, suffer, and suffer AGAIN! Alex thought.

After 20 minutes of a hellish scene, the burning corpse smell was so thick that even the crew in the commander cabin started to make disgusting sounds from it. Their time would come soon.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, VERY FUNNY, ISN’T?”

Alex shouted at the commander cabin. The commander shouted back:

“YOU TERRORIST! YOU WILL HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL TRIAL OVER YOUR ACTIONS; DON’T YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN ESCAPE FROM THE WHOLE WORLD?”

“HAHAHAHA, HOW FUNY, COMMANDER! International Trial over MY Actions? IT WERE YOU ALL WHO PUT YOUR OWN POPULATION INTO A DESPAIRING SITUATION!”

Alex shouted. That hatred he felt wasn’t his. He could feel the people who died in the Reich’s hands and receive their hatred. He had to filter it. But before that, he had 10 people left to play with.

Alex cast a fire spell that exploded the main cabin’s door, killing one crew member who was behind it. That guy was lucky.

He entered the cabin and instantly cast a spell that made the people there unable to move.

They tried to shoot at Alex but missed every shot. The automatic cannon they had there could barely shoot at Alex’s shoulder, but he easily healed it with magic.

Alex picked up a knife and started to do bizarre experiments with the crew.

One of them, Alex, cut off the guy’s dick. He made that person eat it, and then he healed the region. The healing spell couldn’t revive amputee members, but it could at least accelerate natural healing.

“YOU ARE A MONSTER! YOU BELONG TO HELL!”

One of them shouted

“Hell? Hahahahahahahahaha”

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA”

Alex laughed maniacally.

It surely wasn’t him. Alex was a religious man; he would never do such a thing as torture or play with enemy bodies.

Alex felt the rage of the deceased. After crossing dimensions and receiving magical power, Alex started to feel the magic everywhere. Even in magicless worlds like Earth and the Diretorium, he could feel the flow, including the last thoughts of the dead, before their souls finally received peace.

He felt the hatred, the rage, the sorrow—every last feeling people had before being killed by the Reich. It was intoxicating him a little.

After 1 hour of slaughter, a thick smoke started to come from the main deck. Alex hadn’t come yet. Harper and Michael finished their missions, killing every member of the crew painlessly. They were humans after all, even though they were the enemy. They had returned to Tom’s boat.

Harper was the closest to Alex, and he was really worried about his friend's state; he was really taking his time.

“I’ll go after Alex. I think that he’s in trouble.”

Harper said.

“Alright, I’ll wait. I hope he isn’t in trouble.

Michael answered.

“Take this radio; I’ll keep you updated.”

Harper said.

Michael took the radio and waited.

Harper used a spell to swim to Alex’s location. It took him a mere minute.

Harper climbed the boat walls and got onto the deck. There was smoke everywhere, and things were on fire. That boat would soon explode.

He had to hurry, or his friend would die.

He entered the boat and saw a Germanium marine missing his hands, a foot, and his intestines had all shown up. He was bleeding a lot. After touching the guy, his head rolled, leaving a blood trail.

It disgusted Harper, but he knew that this guy deserved it.

He saw a pair of stairs leading to the same place. There was a hole clearly opened by an explosion. It had to be Alex. Harper climbed the stairs and ran towards that hole. A thick, burned corpse smell and a gasoline smell paired in the air, and after covering his nose, Harper could finally see its source. There were nine marines in a hall, all of them in a position that clearly showed that they died in extreme pain.

He couldn’t believe that it was his friend’s doing. But he couldn’t blame him. He almost did the same.

He entered the hall and saw all the crew members in extreme situations. One of them had his hands and feet replaced, and the other had his own penis implanted in his forehead, in the middle of his two eyes. The other had turned into a mess that he couldn’t describe. It was horrible. Harper almost vomited after seeing all of that. Even the terrorists he fought in the Middle East weren’t as brutal as what he saw.

Looking at the room, he saw Alex. He was on his knees, crying.

What had happened?

“Alex, are you okay?”

“I... sob. KILLED ALL OF THEM! I made it! I MADE IT! Sob.”

Alex was crying while shouting that he had killed. There was hatred in his voice, no. It was despair? Maybe regret.

“Calm down. You were always the calmest of us all.”

“I killed all of them, no... I tortured them. It wasn’t me; IT WASN’T ME! I SWEAR!”

Alex started to lose his cool.

“CALM THE FUCK DOWN! First, let’s get the hell out of here.”

Harper shouted.

“Al..right…”

Harper held Alex and carried him outside.

Alex could finally see the damage he had done. He really regretted it, but he couldn’t control his feelings this time. It wasn’t him.

“Alex, what happened here stays between us. No one needs to know this, alright?”

“Yeah…”

Alex could somehow calm down a little. Harper cast water magic to clean his face, and they waited for Tom’s boat to approach.

As Tom’s boat finally approached the main vessel, Harper and Alex jumped into it, and they started to flee away.

“Before I dispel my barrier, I’ll destroy the proofs of what happened.”

After saying that, Alex stored everything in his spatial storage. He couldn’t do it before, but he could now. It would be a really interesting thing to explore further in the future, but now he had to recover from the shock.

They would have a long trip until the Unified Republics; they would also have to explain to Tom what they did, and it would take a really long time.
