As Alex, Harper, Michael, Comoron, and Alicia started to repackage the products to mix them better into that medieval place, Harper noted something
"Hey, let's suppose we sell all of it and receive at least 40 platinum each. How are we going to convert it into money? How can we justify it to the federal reserve?"
"Good thought... Alright, Harper, can you set that for us?"
"Yes. I have some contacts. We can't create a business for money laundry right now, but we can win at the lottery, right?"
"What are you thinking about, Harper?"
"If we win the lottery, we can say that we decided to split that money between ourselves."
"I get where you want to go, but how can we win at the lottery?"
"I know a friend that runs a casino in Vegas. He will make tons of giveaways soon. I know that he does it to cover for odd negotiations behind the scenes. He is also known as the gold man because he is a little addicted to selling and buying gold. We can surely convince him to buy our gold. We will also win one of his giveaways. I estimate that we will profit from something like 1000 gold coins. We can share 1/3 of that money each. You guys finish the hard work there while I'll make some calls."
"As always, you are the guy, Harper. Hope that this friend of yours keeps his world."
"We can trust in him. He has a name in the black market, a name he won't lose for some gold."
"Alright. Go do your thing."
Alex said. After this odd conversation, Harper went away from the main room in Alex's house and called someone using a temporary phone he holds within him.
*calling noise
*call accepted noise
"Dragon hair here; I want to talk to the Gold Digger."
Harper said it. In the underworld, you can't choose your nickname; you receive one based on your actions. For Harper, he made some business as an assassin, and the few witnesses to his work said they only saw long, silky hair, so it became known as the Dragon Hair assassin.
After listening to these words, the attendant asked
"He may not be available for talks today. May I know your business with him?"
"Say to him that I have a good deal, one he can't refuse."
"Alright. I'll tell him. He may call you later on this same phone, so keep it with you."
"Then, I shall wait."
Then, the call ended. Harper was a prominent figure in the underworld, so it was certain that he would receive a call soon.
2 hours later...
*Call noises
Harper heard his phone ring. He immediately accepted the call.
"Who's there?"
"Hohoho, what a great way to say hi to an old friend!"
"Gold Digger?"
"The man itself! I suppose you didn't go through this all that much to just say, Hi, am I right?"
"Ha! Straight into business—that's exactly why I called you. I have a deal for you; take it or leave it."
"Then, what may be this 'Deal' you offer?"
"Gold, my friend. We are talking about something between 10,000 grams and 15,000 grams. It's origin; you don't need to know. I want something discrete and 100% legal. I can't do money laundry right now, so you might have to make it for us, and I know you have done this kind of thing for a while now, and that is exactly why I have called you."
"Hmmm. For this much, I can arrange everything in 3 days. Unfortunately, I don't have any work in LA for now, so you will have to come here, in Las Vegas."
"Alright. Can you also arrange a room for four people?"
"It can be done. I expect you here with your gold. We will also provide transport. In three days, you will meet our men. They are dressed in black, and they drive a cybertruck with pink and blue colors—impossible to miss; after all, we aren't in June. Be there at 6 a.m."
"We will be there."
*Call-ending noise
Harper already found a buyer for the gold and a way to earn that money legally. Everything was already settled; he only had to earn that gold now.
..
.
Alex, Michael, Comoron, and Alicia were almost done with the rework in the item packages. They were quite proud of themselves; the work was done pretty well. Alex was almost going to call for Harper when he appeared.
"Hey guys, I called my contact, and we are going to Vegas!"
"Hahahaha, no better place to become rich again than Vegas!"
Alex laughed. He sure loved movies and series about Las Vegas and all of the glamour the city holds. Alicia wanted to go too, but she knew she couldn't this time. Her husband was going to become rich, so she didn't have any problem with that; soon she would make him pay for a 3-day vacation.
"Las Vegas? What is that?"
Comoron said.
"You will find it out soon. Just know that you will like it."
Michael said.
"Alright, I'll trust you guys."
As Comoron was saying it, Alex said it out loud.
"We are done here, guys! Let's sleep for now, and tomorrow we have a long day!"
As Alex said, Harper and Michael returned to their own homes. Comoron could return to his home in the capital city, but Alex was too tired for a portal opening right now, and Comoron wouldn't complain about the bed quality in this world. Alex gave Comoron US$500 for him to find a hotel nearby. Alex also called an Uber for him, so he could get to the hotel without any major problems.
...
..
8 hours later...
As Alex woke up, he got to his car and drove into the hotel where Comoron was sleeping. He hasn't given him a phone yet, so they can't exchange contact. After some 15 minutes, Alex finally got there and picked Comoron up. Good thing he already left the hotel and was walking around the square in front of the hotel. It was quite easy to identify him, probably because of Alex's improved vision.
"Hey, Comoron, I'm here to pick you up. Enter the car; let's profit tons today!"
"Well, I can't say I ain't excited about this!"
"That's the spirit! Now, come here, let's go."
As Alex said it, Comoron entered the car, and both of them returned to Alex's residence. Harper and Michael were already there, waiting for them.
"Hello, Michael, Harper. You guys managed to sleep well last night."
"I can't say I wasn't excited, but after a few sleeping pills, I managed to sleep."
"The same for me."
Michael and Harper were so excited about the huge profit that they couldn't even sleep well last night. As for Comoron, he fell like a rock after experiencing such a comfortable bed in the hotel. He really couldn't understand how these guys weren't able to sleep well.
"Alright, let's enter the portal. We will be in our inn room, so we leave it and enter the guild. Then we will borrow a room, and they will buy our stuff. Expect immense profit today!"
"Roger!"
After this, everyone went to the basement, and there, Alex opened the portal.
They were in the inn room, as Alex noted. It was a great thing they weren't in the plains or something similar. Pretty incredible, to be honest; perhaps Alex could control the location of the portal, and they could enter and leave like a teleport. It is something to test later.
They walked the streets of the capital city. Comoron, once proud of the greatness of his own city, now could only see it as normal or even below average. Surely, Los Angeles had hit him quite hard. After some 15 minutes of walking, they entered the guild. Comoron showed something to the clerk and asked for a room. She instantly accepted it, and the four of them entered there.
"Alright, time for a delivery, guys!"
As Alex said, he opened the portal, and the portal was in the main room, where all of the items were in "storage." Harper noticed that maybe Alex could control the portal location, so he should be able to use it and travel everywhere, can't he?

Well, Harper thought about it while he was carrying all the items together with the three other boys. They finished it after about an hour or so. Alex was especially fast here, and Harper and Michael were amazed. They didn't think much about it, though.
"Everything is here. Let's show our charms to this place."
As Alex said it, he told Comoron to go and ask the clerk to come here.
Comoron agreed and went in the direction of the clerk. He asked her to enter the room to evaluate the items there. She agreed, and another clerk replaced her for the time being.
As Comoron and the clerk entered, he showed her the items and then said
"Here we have 400 pounds of high-quality beef preserved with magic. We also have some candies and seasonings."
"This is surely a huge amount of food we have. I have to evaluate it personally. Do you mind if I test one of the items myself? Of course, we will pay for it."
"No problem. You can have it."
After Alex answered the clerk, she opened one of the meats, picked up some salt, and powdered pepper. She used a little fire magic to fry the beef and ate it. The taste was something so good that it actually made the clerk girl give a smile; she was amazed by its quality, for sure.
"This is good! We can buy each package of meat (1 pound) for one silver coin. We will also pay 10 gold for the seasonings. 6 silver per pound of sugar and 10 silver for the salt."
The clerk said it was exciting. Little did she know that more were to come.
"We also have this high-quality pasta here that comes with its own seasoning. It fits perfectly for a quick and delicious dish."
Alex then showed the clerk one of the noodles. It was chicken-flavored. He asked the clerk for a pan, which she instantly picked up from the guild desk. Alex then picked up the pan, filled it with a little water, and dropped the noodles there. He asked Comoron to keep a small fire under the pan, which he instantly did. He stirred the noodles for 3 minutes and then dropped the seasonings. He stirred it a little more and served it on a plate the clerk had brought with her. The smell was so good that it actually captured some glances, and more of the guild clerks appeared. Alex gave her the plate, and she tasted the noodles.
"Delicious! This pasta is of high quality! We can pay 1 silver coin for each one of them!"
"Good. We have 400 of them."
"We buy them all!"
Alex had sold everything he had. He earned 124 gold coins, or 12 royal gold coins and 4 gold coins. It surely was amazing; such a quantity of gold could sell quite high.
Now, it was Michael's time. He pointed to the canned food he got. He also removed the paper from the package, so it was a metal can with food inside. Apparently, they already have canned food in this world, but surely nothing as amazing as Earth's one!
"Miss clerk, please taste one of these canned foods!"
"Alright. Also, you guys can call me Elyn."
"Certainly, miss Elyn."
After Michael said it, Comoron heated the can a little, and she ate the content. The taste was pretty normal, a bit above average, but nothing a normal restaurant couldn't do. What was amazing, in fact, was that this was canned food that could be preserved for years. The fact that this can be this good for such a long time, was great, and could also sell great in the military. Even though the food wasn't amazing, it was good. Elyn kept the big smile she had on her face.
"We buy these for 1 silver, the unity."
"Deal."
Michael accepted the deal Elyn offered. He even proposed more.
"This is candy. It is solid, and the taste is pretty good. We can sell you 200 units of these for now."
"Alright. Let me taste this candy."
Elyn picked a random candy in the box. She opened it and put it in her mouth. It was extremely good—kind of addicting.
"Delicious! I can eat these for hours without noticing! Even though it is small, we can offer 1 bronze per unit."
Even though the bronze was the least valuable coin, it could buy plenty of things. A good restaurant could sell food for six or eight of them. Even though one of them is enough to buy a pack of flour, two of them could buy an entire chicken (note: the chickens in this world are bigger than on Earth). A normal worker would have to work 4 hours to earn this much. The kingdom is surely technologically behind America, but their people have incredible wealth compared to Earth in this period. It has something to do with magic, perhaps. Well, Michael didn't care much about it. He sold a candy, the one you can buy in any street market for 0.10 dollars or so, for one bronze coin. 4 hours of work to buy one candy.
"Deal."
Michael agreed. With this, he had earned 102 gold coins. Even though it was a little less than Alex's 124, it was still a lot. 1.02 kg of pure gold. The gold value here wasn't that amazing; probably they have a very good vein that drops lots of ore every year.
Now, it was Harper's time to sell. He pointed his finger at a small bunch of items. It wasn't as much as Alex or Michael, but still considerable.
"I have these jewels. The one we sold you yesterday, remember?"
Harper said.
"Oh, I remember them. They were amazing! I never saw anything like these before."
"I am glad you liked it. I have nine more gold-plated chains and 90 more jewels like the ones you bought."
"Oh, then I assume the price hasn't changed since then. We can give 9 platinum for all of them."
"Yes. I am glad we quickly solved it."
Elyn surely knew that 9 platinums were at least 9 years of work for her, but the guild made immense profit with the jewels he sold yesterday. They had bought it for 1 platinum and sold it for 10 platinum to a noble. She would no doubt buy more of these jewels without hesitation.
"Now, I have a more specific candy here. We can say that this one is refined. Only a noble can understand its full value."
Harper said. Then he handed her one chocolate bar. The bar itself was covered by the cheap cloth Alex bought. The cloth was the perfect disfarce; it wouldn't bring suspicious eyes around them; if they had sold it in plastic otherwise, they would surely bring unwanted attention.
Elyn bit the bar and started to cry after this. The taste was something so good that she never thought that it would be this amazing.
"This... sob... is delicious! We pay 2 silver per unit!"
She couldn't pay more than that because the guild had already spent almost all of its money today. Even though two silvers weren't enough for this, She really expected that Harper would ask for four silvers, which she would accept. Contrary to her expectations, Harper agreed.
"Alright. I have 500 of these; I can sell them for 2 silver each. You buy all of them."
"Deal!"
Elyn instantly agreed. Harper had earned more than the two together. 1,000 gold coins! Or 10 platinum. He would surely earn a huge amount today.
"Alright, I think we are done here, boys. Let's receive our payment. Elyn, right? Can we just leave it all here and you guys take care of the rest?"
"Yes sir. We would be glad to accept it all. Please come with me to the guild office to receive the payment."
"Alright."
The clerk guided the four of them into the guild office. Comoron stayed quiet in the entire negotiation. He knew the truth behind it; even though it really looked like a scam, he couldn't blame the guild or the three boys. These items were really amazing, but he felt guilty for them. That feeling was soon to be completely wiped out by the shine of gold.
As the boys entered the guild office, they met the guild master. He was an old guy with a strong physique, full of bruise marks. He was sure worth being called "The Guild Master." His aura was terrifying. But to their surprise, he was such a gentleman.
"Hello, my dear guests! I already understand the situation, and I am proud to say we got all the money we promised, and we will be able to fully pay you today."
"Thank you so much, sir! We really had to earn that money fast; we couldn't afford to have a late payment."
"Yes. So, the total is 12 platinum coins, 2 royal gold coins, and 6 gold coins. I suppose that each of you will receive different quantities of money."
"Actually no. All the money is going to be with me. Also, if possible, we would like to receive the payment in gold and royal gold."
"I can work with that."
"So, we have a deal. It was a pleasure to work with you, guild master."
"Same, Alex."
The Guild Master and Alex shook hands. It was a universal sign of mutual respect, even here.
The four boys left the guild master's office with a bag full of money. The bag was made using a more resistant fabric because the coins were heavy—a little more than 27 pounds. It was 12.26 kilograms of pure gold. It was surely amazing. Comoron was a little shocked after seeing all of this money in front of his eyes. Alex saw him and remembered the help he had given them so far. This guy was a good person; they could feel that they could trust him. Alex took five royal gold coins and then said,
"Comoron, you've been a great help for us all here. Take it, a small gift of gratitude and a way to say we want to work together with you more times."
Alex then gave the five royal golds to Comoron. It was a month of money that Comoron had received in just one day. He could exchange the kingdom for this group as easily as he could choose between 100 bronze and 1 platinum coin. He wasn't that trusted, and he already knew it. So he was somehow trying to bring these guys by his side; he would have extremely powerful allies by his side.
Comoron was happy. He never knew that he could make so much money in so little time. But as he heard, they were going to convert this money into dollars, the currency they use in their country. Well, he had five royal golds, so he could at least convert two of them into that currency. He could buy and sell things easily there, and items from that place would help him a lot to keep power, which he wasn't able to do now.
As the four boys entered the inn, they entered the room, and Alex opened the portal. They had to prepare for the sale that was going to happen.
..
.
3 days later...
The four boys were at the address, and Harper said that the Gold Digger men were waiting for them. It was early—6 a.m. They would be on a five-hour trip.
They saw the Cybertruck that the Gold Digger told them about. Harper understood the joke about June; it looked extremely like that certain flag some people use that month. Harper got chills in his spine, and since he crossed that portal, his senses became sharper. Well, he didn't care much about it; what could go wrong on this trip?
"Dragon Hair says hello. The code is Life in Vice."
"Correct answer."
Harper and the three other boys entered the truck. They were a little sleepy, so they just slept the entire trip. They reached Las Vegas at 10:30 a.m. They were already in front of Cassino Harper's friend. It was going to be a good negotiation.
The three of them entered the cassino and walked towards the VIP door.
"You can't pass here."
"Get out of my front, little delta."
It was a code that changed every time. The guard instantly understood and welcomed them.
"It is such a pleasure to take you guys here!"
They walked towards her without answering the guard. It was all part of the etiquette VIPs had to follow. But it surely was rough. Comoron just followed them, but he felt powerful; he had forgotten this feeling as the other nobles usually mocked him up.
They walked into the VIP area and entered a private cabin. There he was, the gold digger. He was a Latino man whose weight was around 330 lbs. He also wore a wolf mask made of pure gold. There were some rubies in the mask; it was well made, for sure. He also had golden teeth. He surely was rich and gold-addicted.
"Mister Dragon Hair, it is a pleasure to meet you!"
"The same here, Gold Digger."
As Harper conducted the negotiations, they spent 5 minutes on formalities and greetings. After that, Harper went straight to the point.
"Mister Gold Digger, I have 11,76 kilograms of pure gold in this suitcase."
Harper put the case on the table and opened it in front of the gold digger.
Then, the big guy picked up a gold coin. Comoron had erased the Kingdom coat of arms from the coin. Even though he didn't like the idea of erasing the symbol of his own country, he understood the situation and did it. The gold digger saw the gold. He had the eye for it; he instantly noted that they were real.
"I've confirmed the gold. Totaling 11,76 kg, we will give you guys a cheat card for the giveaway of 750 thousand. The money is 100% legal, and we don't need any laundry to be used with ease."
"Amazing work as always, Mr. Gold Digger."
"I have to say the same. It is not everyday that I can see such quality gold."
"Hahaha, we are happy we could do it. We hope to do more negotiations soon."
"It will be my pleasure!"
As Harper and the Gold Digger said goodbye respectfully to each other, both walked in opposite directions.
Harper, Alex, and Michael finally entered the giveaway room. It was big and could accommodate hundreds of people easily.
As planned, they've won the giveaway and shared the amount equally between each other. US$250,000 for each one. Comoron managed to sell two royal gold coins as well; he received US$ 12,750. There is enough money to start a low life in the US.
...
..
"Hahahahaha, you guys don't get it! WE GOT GOLD FROM ANOTHER WORLD HAHAHAHAHAHA"
Alex were drunk. He started to say loud, absurd things and laugh hysterically. Harper was somehow sober; Comoron didn't last long; after the third drink, he took off his hat and became known as the Pointy Ears. Michael was drunk, but he could keep himself to himself, unlike Alex. Alex drank a thousand dollars worth of alcohol. This guy was a demon.
"Oh fuck, IT'S COMING!"
Alex said his well-known line when he was about to throw out all the alcohol. Harper couldn't let him do it in the main room of the Cassino. He took Alex off; at least they had to pay before, so they didn't have to worry about paying later.
Harper brought Alex to a nearby alley, where he threw everything out. He was still drunk, so he instinctively activated his portal. He and Harper were teleported to an alley.
Harper looked around, and he could only note one thing.
"Where the fuck are we?"
They were in a futuristic, dystopic world. How can Harper tell? because of the lack of colors, the neons all in the same color, the trash on the floor, and the drone surveillance. He saw a guy being shot in the street by guards, and people around him didn't even care. It was like Nazi Germany, but futuristic.
"Holy shit"
Harper understood the situation and instantly tried to convince Alex to get out of here as quickly as he could.
