CHAPTER - VIII

The battlefield fell silent as the figure began to move with an ethereal grace, surrounded by the mysterious sound of divine sirens.

Alan, gripped by terror, involuntarily rolled his wheelchair back, bumping into Jin in the process. Jin snapped out of his trance, his gaze meeting Alan's, realising the immense burden resting upon him.

In an instant, Jin transformed back into Devil Jin, shrouded in a dark aura, and launched himself towards the approaching figure. His bold action jolted everyone out of their divine reverie, one by one, as they snapped back to the grim reality of the battlefield.

Witnessing Jin's reckless charge, Xiaoyu lunged forward in a futile attempt to halt his advance, her voice filled with desperation.

"Jin, No!!!" she cried out, her plea echoing across the silent battlefield.

Sensing the impending battle, Lillie rushed forward, seizing the transmitter from Lee's hand. With a surge of determination, she directed her fiery words at Eliza, igniting a spark within her.

"Eliza, you wanted the head of Marksman, there you have it. So move your ass you powerful voluptuous bitch!!!"

Lillie's unconventional pep talk snapped Eliza back to reality, her expression a mixture of hesitation and determination. With a nod to Zafina, she mustered her courage and charged towards the divine being, joining Jin in his bold assault.

The divine being, hovering motionless in the air, cast a scrutinising gaze upon the approaching challengers, its eyes ablaze with crimson intensity.

With a graceful movement, it raised a hand and released a feather-like projectile towards Jin, Eliza, and Ogre-Zafina. Though they braced themselves for impact, the feather seemed to pass harmlessly by, eliciting confusion.

In a sudden burst of light, the being swiftly closed the distance, delivering simultaneous kicks to Jin, Eliza, and Ogre, sending them hurtling down in separate directions.

As they struggled to rise, the being descended to their level, its movements so swift that even seasoned fighters failed to fully perceive them, seeing only a blur.

With a manic laugh reminiscent of Claudio, the being mocked their efforts.

"Ha! You truly believed you could harm me, you insignificant insects? The ignorance of mortals never fails to entertain me."

"Who are you calling a mortal?" Eliza's battle cry filled the air as she lunged towards the divine being, but her efforts were futile as she found herself ensnared in mid-air, the being's grip tightening around her neck.

"Oh, forgive me for my oversight. We have a queen of Vampires among us," the divine being taunted, raising Eliza above its head and tightening its grip, causing her to writhe in agony. "They speak of your legend, at the sanctuary..."

With a swift motion of its wings, the being unfurled feathers that transformed into deadly knives, instantly piercing Eliza's flesh.

She let out a blood-curdling cry as her struggles ceased, overcome by pain.

"Imagine if they could see you now—weak, helpless, unable to withstand even a single blow from me," the being taunted as Eliza's life seemed to slip away, while the wings stabbed inside her glowing with ominous scarlet.

From the safety of the base, Lillie gnawed anxiously on her nails, her frustration palpable. As Asuka approached her, concerned, shocked by Eliza's apparent demise.

"Lillie, are you okay?"

Lillie's hand halted her in her tracks.

"Don't!" Lillie's voice rang out, her gaze fixed on the divine being.

"You fool, she is immortal. Now face your demise!!!"

Upon regaining consciousness, Eliza quickly transformed her claws into demonic weapons and launched herself at the divine being with lightning speed, stabbing the divine being with all her might.

However, to her shock, the being remained unfazed by her attack, responding in an indifferent tone, "Oh... yeah, Immortality."

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

With a vice-like grip, the being tightened its hold on Eliza's neck, lifting her higher and unleashing a searing laser into her eyes.

Burning smog erupted from her eyes as she cried out in excruciating agony, her screams echoing through the battlefield. It was perhaps the first time in her thousand-year existence that she had experienced such intense pain.

As Eliza's immortal soul was slowly drained by the divine being, Lillie could only watch in horror, mirroring Eliza's cries and begging for mercy. However, her pleas fell on deaf ears as the being unleashed a final surge of energy through its eye laser.

In a sudden explosion, Eliza began to disintegrate, her form crumbling away with a deafening roar that sent terror rippling through the spectators, chilling them to their very core.

Having absorbed Eliza, the divine being unfurled its wings with immense force, emitting pulses of aura in all directions. With an air of pride, it declared,

"And that's how you vanquish a Queen of Vampires..!!!"

In response, a deafening cry erupted from Lillie, filling the battlefield with sorrow and despair.

As Jin soared through the air, launching himself at the divine being with lightning speed, he unleashed a flurry of kicks and punches, each strike filled with determination. But to his dismay, the being vanished into thin air, reappearing behind Jin with an unsettling whisper in his ear.

"And you, the prodigal son..The Devil..!!! The chosen one!" the being taunted, its voice dripping with twisted inspiration. Jin whirled around, unleashing a barrage of attacks, but the being dodged effortlessly, moving with fluid grace.

"The Chosen One, the hero of the story," the being continued, its voice echoing with eerie resonance. "The one destined to shoulder the weight of the world, to save humanity, to end the cursed bloodline."

Suddenly, the being countered Jin's punch with a devastating blow, sending him hurtling downward. Before Jin could have touched the ground, the being reappeared beneath him, delivering a powerful bicycle kick that sent him flying once more.

Alan and the others watched in agony, their hearts heavy with fear and hope, praying for Jin's safety, desperate to see him avoid the same fate that had befallen to Eliza.

Once again, the being vanished in a blur of motion, reappearing beside the flying Jin and seizing him in its vice-like grip.

"You know what you are," it hissed, its voice dripping with contempt.

"A false hope, a harbinger of destruction. Everywhere you go, devastation follows, leaving pain and suffering in your wake. You've hurt everyone who cares about you, everyone who loves you. You've even consumed the one who gave you life."

At these words, Jin let out a primal scream of rage, struggling against the being's grip with all his might. He flapped and fluttered like a trapped bird, desperate to break free, but it was in vain. With a swift and effortless motion, the being tore Jin's wings away, causing him to cry out in agonising pain as blood flowed from his back.

Alan, Asuka, and Xiaoyu watched in horror, their hearts breaking as they yelled Jin's name in desperation. Lee and Lars, overwhelmed with anguish and despair, could only cover their eyes, unable to bear the sight of their friend's suffering.

As Jin's cries subsided, the being lifted him into the air and declared,

"Heathens and sinners shall not be given any quarters. Kill them, and let God sort them out!" With those chilling words, the being began to draw Jin's aura into itself.

Witnessing their friend's torment, the group cried out in anguish, their voices joining Lillie's in a chorus of desperate pleas for mercy. But just as her, their cries fell on deaf ears as well, the being showing no signs of halting its cruel assault. It continued to drain Jin's very life force, the devil gene fading away with each passing moment.

Prepared to deliver the final blow, the being readied its lethal laser, poised to end Jin's suffering once and for all. However, before it could strike, Ogre intervened, pushing Jin to safety and unleashing a torrent of flames upon the being.

Yet even as the flames engulfed it, the being remained unaffected, swiftly absorbing the fire, including the flames within Ogre's very lungs, and unleashing them back with even greater intensity.

As Ogre disintegrated before their eyes, the being sneered in contempt. "Wretched being," it spat, frustration evident in its voice.

Zafina narrowly avoided a fiery fate, leaping away from Ogre just in time to escape the flames. But her relief was short-lived as the being seized her crystalline arm in mid-air, its eyes gleaming with fascination.

"Intriguing," the being murmured, examining Zafina's arm closely. "I sense ancient power within it, though weakened. It holds the potential of a calamity."

With a sudden, unexpected motion, even Zafina didn't realise as she fell on the ground witnessing a gush of blood flowing out from where her arm used to be, the being, using just a push, had separated her from her arm, tearing it away like hair.

Spectators averted their eyes in horror at the gruesome sight, writhing in agony, the sound of Zafina's anguished screams filled the air.

As Zafina writhed in pain, the being closely examined her severed crystled arm. After a moment of contemplation, it raised the arm above its mouth and swallowed it whole in one bit.

Zafina's screams echoed through the battlefield as she was carried away, supported by Jin who was already limping, and made their way towards a humvee waiting near the battlefield for medical assistance from Paul and Law, handing her over to them.
