Chapter 7 - For a new tomorrow

Chapter 7 - For a new tomorrow

After his visit with his sister the admiral would soon enough make sure that the people knew of the coming meeting. One to discuss the latest series of events and even to discuss their plans for the future to come. As he knew that the crew was shaken for better or worse and they needed to ensure that they would never fall into chaos and destruction. As soon enough the people would emerge from the doors. Some were people from the convoy and leaders on their own right yet ones that kept the settlers calm. In a way it was his counterpart Maria who was the representative of the settlers at large. As it was her title and was chosen due to that of her charm and wit as she had been able to gather needed people for the expedition and hence, why most of the people here were trained and capable.

The best of what they could muster. With some hailing from the mountains from the Ifugao tribes which were able to still survive, those were key in establishing the farming sectors due to their capabilities of even keeping the Banaue rice terraces still able to produce rice despite the end of the world. Being the only ones that could still be able to produce food despite the end of all of it.

Along with the Badjao the sea nomads who offered their people as marines and fishermen knowing that life on the seas might be vital and needed. People that could transverse the waters with little to no gear and even now were vital in cataloguing the strange but, fascinating fauna and flora that they saw. As it was they were the people that encompasses most of the crew due to their adaptation towards sea life.

"Admiral." She spoke hailing and bowing towards their benefactor. "How is the situation?" She asked as they moved away from the doors to prevent any unwanted listeners. "Stable and with no sign of the entity that welcomed us." He spoke out with a worried look. As his eyes was serious and from the looks of his body movement told her that he was as lost as she was. "Welcomed us?" She asked knowing that it quite the sentence to came. As the woman would ponder before sighing knowing that the people were at ease and they already encountered plenty of odd things in return.

"We been seeing strange creatures follow our vessels." She spoke out knowing that this resulted in them having to position marines to keep watch and ensure their survival. "Yes the fauna of Exodus is odd but, as I've had no reports of injuries and deaths I would assume that they are quite safe?" he added to which she would looked at him with uncertainty in her eyes. "One of the fishermen had tamed one of the things we call the Kris tooth as it had been following us and even waited for the fisherman's orders to feed." She muttered as she knew that the others were easing up to it yet the marines were keeping watch on the thing.

"My people had examined the creature and from the looks of it the creature does not have any visual apparatus but, its sense of hearing is unparallelly." She continued on as like the military they had their experts as well to ensure that they won't have any problems with research priorities for the duration of the voyage towards a suitable position for colonization. "the fisherman had gone to dives with the creature which allowed him to catch odd creatures." She said as she was able to see a crab the size of a human and even plenty of other terrifying things.

"We decided to call it Bubbles since one could always tell where it would surface from the large bubbles that would form before its ascend. " She continued on making him nod as it reassuring that the creature despite its look was quite good and gentle. "Thanks for that I'll allow the taming of such creatures since it does allow our people to fish." He said knowing that such a creature might not just benefit their domestic affairs but, also that of their military ambitions in the future.

"Its good to know that even in such a world there is some calm moments." She spoke out as she looked at him as she felt quite secured about it. "For now I will speak with the marines and tell them that Bubbles will be protected and seen as a part of our expedition." He spoke out making her cheer up. "For now for the main topic at hand what is the situation?" She asked in return as her smile turn to that of a serious look as she waited for his explanation. One of which he explained to her in great detail and allowing her to know that the situation was odd but, not that problematic. "If what you say is true then know that we are lucky to have the blessing of this leviathan." She spoke out knowing that the creature was simply breath-taking.

"Though I do not agree with the theory but, its the most solid explanation that we have. " She continued on as she took some time to think before coming up with something. "We can tell them most of it but, I do want to keep the fact that we are being hunted a secret or changed to that of us being searched for." She told him knowing that the most powerful navy was hunting them was going to cause unnecessary terror for the settlers. "Rather if one would ask then I would want to say that an American civil war happened resulting in the chaos that happened." She told him making him ponder. "Are you sure that they fought against you?" She asked him wanting him to know that this wasn't as much of a lie as he might think it would have been.

"We were attacked by their assault ships thought we were able to kill them before they gotten to us." He spoke making her see that it might be worse then she thought at the moment. "Noted." She replied with a long sigh as she looked at him annoyed at them just being really the target of a remnant that still has missiles and a aircraft carrier. "As long as we don't come in contact with them that we don't have to worry about them." She spoke out as she knew too well that the Americans did attack a landing vessel not a dedicated combat vessel. "I'll keep that in mind and thank you." He replied knowing that she was right and that they didn't need to shake the crew for the time being and their was no official declaration of war.

"Just keep that in mind ok?" She asked scoring a eager nod from him in return. "Nice." she said before clapping as she went to her people and started to cater to them. Letting him know that she was shaping up well as their civil authority. In a way he was happy to have someone as capable as she walked up towards the various people around them where she talked and discuss about their woes and opportunities that they had at the trip in return. As she was able to keep the people quite supportive and eager for the landing as they settle and develop their colony for the eventual flood of refugees to come.

"So we're at the other side?" Spoke Carl as he finally got some action thought he didn't expect it to become as such. "We won an encounter from the Americans?" He said with pride knowing that his marines were able to out maneuverer them in the boarding process and they did outgun them. "Careful not to have that get to your head or we might come to see your head from a hundred meters away." He said chuckling at his eagerness to call that encounter a victory. "So good on the Bubbles situation I swear its more of a dog then that of a sea monster." He said as Maria had come and relayed the message to him the moment she saw him.

"We won so it counts." He said knowing that they gotten loot with it. "Yeah good job but, it does help knowing that we have people that lived their entire lives at sea." He said as he chuckled in return as he was up and eager to know about his situation at that. "You earned it and thanks you saved me." He said in return as he knew too well just how he was supposed to have died at that time. "Yeah can't replace you of course I mean Robin would have been chewing me out if I let you so don't worry just know that I'll lay out my life for you since I know you do the same for me." He said as he punched his sides with his fist ensuring to go in and land just below his shoulders making him be quite shocked before he endured the pain.

"This is why I'm the commander." He said knowing that he had fit the job perfectly. "Yeah no one can ever match you in that field." He continued as he kept his hand to his sides. "Well aren't my boys just as they are as before." Spoke a familiar voice before they were snuggled by their eager adopted mother. "I'm glad to know that you both are still the same as always." She continued as she embraced them both glad to know that both of them had survived well and without much damage.

"Now lead us all to safety ok." She spoke out towards the two as she went to her spot as she prepared her visual aid to help out in her part. As it was clear that the people are eager to know about what just happened and most of all the next steps that they would be taking. "Looks like its time for now lets get to it." He said as he soon enough went on towards the centre where they would be making the announcement. As the chatter would soon enough die off when one of the aides lowered his hand making them know that it was time for them to start. As Jazzy would pick up his mic and soon enough start to explain the situation from that of the entity and that of the leviathan at that while keeping the American aggression a secret for the time being. As she was right the fact that they had one of the strongest nations hunting them was going to invite nothing more but, worry for most of the civvies.

As such when Robin came in that she would soon enough relay and show them about the eventual things that they have about the entities that inhabit this world. Namely what they were calling them as the Curator Leviathan and the gardeners. Along with this world being seeded to fit in life and that they were welcome. One that made the people quite assured and happy knowing too well just how good and wonderful all of this news was for all of them. As that meant that they would fit well in this land and some even thinking that God gave them a second chance for them. A new life for them to cultivate and better knowing that they were going to accomplish their goal at that.

One of which was to give their brothers and sisters a land of which they could call home. Away from the crumbling ruins of their ancestral one which was ruined by those before them. As such they would move on to the meat of the meeting which was the next steps that they needed to make and do from now on. One that Jazzy would come to the board as he was going to brief them on what they needed to do. "While these lands are fertile that goes all ways." He spoke out to all of them. "We are lucky that all that we are seeing are friendly and receptive creatures. " he spoke out as was planning ways to counter the creatures namely the installation of multiple gun positions around the

hull of the ship and the conversion of some of the civilian vessels into attack vessels ones that they could help plug the holes in their defences. "Namely we have seen crabs that are as large as humans which would likely be territorial or just hungry for us." He continued on letting them know that they could be the prey earlier on. "Rather I want us to have buddies whenever they travel around the vessel to minimize loses as remember its not just creatures that are could end us but, the environment as well and such I want you all to be vigilant and make sure that those that you paired up with are still here." He continued on. "Followed I would be opening up open dialogue for both the civilian and military specialize to convene and share knowledge and a apprenticeship program regarding the most vital of our colonial needs." he said before writing down three vital branches that they needed to organize.

Which were Gathering, Engineering, and finally Leadership. "For gathering it would go and deal with the harvesting of raw materials. Engineering in return would be the repurposing of said materials and the maintenance of the ship and finally leadership would be the creation of supervisors and leaders for the further improvement of the previous departments." He explained to them all before taking the time to soon enough take up the three heads of such departments being that of Gabriella for gathering, Robin as the head of engineering, and finally that of Maria for the leadership course.

"Know that it is not mandatory, its a free service but, we would need to have atleast five for each session." He spoke out letting them know that they could specialize if they wanted to. "Also there will be times where we aren't going to be able to proceed with the classes and such all of you will be informed if such events happen." He said knowing that it was done and that they could proceed with the next and final segment. As some of the civvies were up and eager for such a system and would go down to chatter one of which made him call for a quick break wanting to get some water and some time to catch his breath. As the people would finally go quiet as the next presentation would soon enough begin.

"For now the goal is to create a suitable colony for those that were still left behind. That involves breaking foundation, cataloguing useful and vital information about this lands, and afterwards the most vital of them all is the creation of a stable colony that could support the second wave and the next wave after that." He spoke out as he would detail to them that the mission is still the same and that they were even ahead of schedule as well.

"I want all of your cooperation as we would be doing our best to ensure that all of us get to that." He said knowing that they were already finding alot about the nature of things here. As one of which was the oxygen which was perfect for them as for once their lungs weren't irritated or that some of them found it easy to breathe.

Along with the salty scent of the sea and how everything was quite perfect for them. Showing them that they have something to preserve their goods with as some of them had already started to do with some already harvesting the sea salt before placing them in what they called salt makers which were containers on the side of the ship which had plastic caps. All in preventing water to get in while also slowly evaporating the water and isolate the salt afterwards. This allowed them to keep their fishes dry and last longer which was perfect for the long nature of their voyage.

All of which he ended the meeting when he would looked at them. "Its far from what we prepared, we should have a massive fleet with us, and we would be going at it in the blind." He said letting them know that this was not the ideal position for them but, in the end they needed to move together. "That is why I am glad that I am not doing this alone." He said as he smiled and looked at each of them. "I have you." He said as he looked at them and in turn let them know that he needs them all. "We have each other." He spoke out as he was happy to know that from now on the only people they could rely on were themselves and those around them.

"We work and ensure that we all have a future or else we all die off." He continued on knowing that this tiny fleet was all that they had and they had to work plenty to make up the number disadvantage. "Lets make something better and lets hopefully make something that all of us would be happy to leave for those that will step up after us." He continued before he gestured for them all to leave knowing that their was plenty of work to be done and that they earn some rest due to the recent events.

"Carl I'll need you with me." He said wanting him to go and talk with him to figure out how to reorganize and handle the watch from now on. Plus he wanted to talk about the entity that was Joe. As the two would directly go towards his office where they would talk about what was to come. "I've been thinking." He spoke as Carl soon enough locked the door and took a seat. "We have no idea where the gate is." He told him letting him know that they were all alone in this place and that he had no idea on how to tell everything that the they might not be able to meet those they left behind. "I think they already knew.. You did tell them that you will be searching for it." He told him knowing that he didn't move the gate nor had no control on how to open it at that.

"Rather isn't that better since the world fleet would likely be upon us afterwards if they found out." He told him knowing that this could be a blessing in disguise. "Rather I dread on what they are going to do to our people." He said knowing that the fleet might take their anger towards their people back at home. "Like it or not we can't stay months on end here in the ocean we must get to land." He told him knowing that it was not an easy choice and no matter what he and his men would be helping him out. "The goal never change just became harder to achieve." He spoke out before extending his hand. "Just like old times." He spoke before he pulled out his small bottle filled with a seed that had all but, died off before hand.

"This is your doing of course." He said as he had collected coffee beans as a chance to enjoy coffee once more. "you didn't even have sugar with yours you taste freak." He said knowing that he used to treat him to a small shop back in the day. "Its a good idea so I don't know what those politicians are thinking but, to forsake the last beans but, we had to do it I mean you need coffee to wake yourself up." He responded.

"Exactly!" the commander yelled out in glee as he was up and eager to have coffee since they used up the last ones before he had all been eager to plant and have his own coffee once more one day. "Can't believe that you are willing to risk your life for it." He told him before looking at the beans and nodding. "Hope that one of them is up for the challenge." He told him in return. "One day you would be drinking Carl's beans." he replied making him laugh at the idea. "If its as small as yours then why not?" He teased making Carl chuckle in return. "I would say that you would have to think about the greater good.

To prioritize the plenty but, I won't be able to do it especially when I have to pick between you or Robin." He said as he sighed. "All I know is once you commit you hold onto it like its your life." He muttered in return as he looked at the coffee beans. "I am going to start a coffee plantation once we retire. Meet some cool wife and then settle down I'm done with the constant fighting for survival I just want to build something else then something that is needed but, something I want." He told him in return as he was quite determined and happy.

"We guide this fleet because there is no alternative. We sail back before there is no alternative. And we suffer because there is no alternative but, this is my alternative one that we all used to enjoy back when there is hope you know." He continued on as he was just happy to know that he had his alternative to all of this and it was one that he cherished alot for. An item the symbolizes his dreams for something better then what he has now.
