Chapter 3 - Voyage

Chapter 3 - Voyage

After months of preparation and hard work the people were finally ready to join the main fleet. As most if not all could see just how much everyone was all too eager to do their best to forge themselves a new life outside of the rumoured gate. A colossal structure that appeared in the ocean before and now their last hope in getting out of this world and into a new home for them to build anew.

While there was never any confirmation of a new world, one thing was clear and that was every remnant was building up what navy they still had before crossing into this new world. With everyone allowed to create their new home across the gate. One of which was the Tamaraw one that would drag with it a multitude of survivors from the archipelago ones of which eager to create a home for those that were left behind to come to in the future as humanity finally left this world once and for all.

Hence, with pride, hope and with great anticipation the colonization fleet would set sail. As hundreds of thousands of people flock to see their love ones for what could be the last time. Some holding onto their fathers, brothers, sisters and mothers as they bid goodbye thought as it was most held the hope that they would come back once again back home. Their tears, sacrifices, and most of all effort given in order for the second batch to come in and settle in a new city one that will welcome them with open arms.

"My fellow survivors." Spoke the president of the remnants. "Today four thousand of our bravest would set sail from our darkish shores all with one objective, goal, and priority." President Manuel spoke out as he sat on the podium near the bottom of the ship as it was about to be dropped into the waters as the retrofit had been done. Along with this long and sturdy cables fasten and keep hundreds of vessels of various sizes near it when they depart. As the crew listened from on top of the deck all making sure that when they dropped it from the dry docks and soon enough dragging the other vessels with it.

"To build a new city to start anew, rebuild, and prosper." He said with pride as everyone had given their own to make the Tamaraw possible. "With drive to rescue us from this purgatory that chokes us hopeless with each passing day." He said as he raised his hands as he beckon the crowd to follow in. "Let us pray, support, and most of all make ready for the return of our heroes the blessed four thousands!" He yelled out making colonist or not to cheer in as they made ready for the end of the ceremony as he was given a large bottle of wine possibly the last of its kind before he smashes it into the bow of the ship shattering it and soon enough giving the signal for the people to let her free. Letting loose the metal beams that kept it at bay and soon enough watching as the ship slide on through to freedom.

As the colonist prepared for the upcoming pull as they held onto what handles or surfaces that they could hold onto as when the ship finally landed on the waters that it started to pull on the boats that came. As they could see the rope tighten before their ships were pulled into the waters as well letting them go as they brave this new world.

All the while the crew at the Tamaraw would scramble to their positions and posts. As guards assumed to their gun positions and posts as they watch and monitor the boats on the back hoping to make sure that none of them spilled over or that all were safe. As Jazzy was back in his bridge as he coordinated the men while they plot their course. "We're all busy so I'll keep this short." He said as he prepared to give his speech or his words.

"As the president said our goal is simple and that is to find land and create a haven but, that is what they expected of us... Nope our goal is simple and that is to survive... the waves, the others, and most of all ourselves." He said letting them hear his words as he was serious but, had a gentle tone as he told them their priority. "Survive to see this mission through, survive to ripe the benefits the ones back home promised you.. And most of all survive to rebuild." He said ending is broadcast leaving everyone with his words and his wishes for all of them. "And I'll make it so." He added as they follow their course to join the main fleet.

As the ship was towing with it their future with him leading the vessel. Though good signs were on the horizon as there was a lack any tropical storms and despite how dark the ocean was they survived without much damage for the first instances of the travel. With the marines doing their best to practise their craft with some diving and even checking up around the other vessels to see just how bad or good their situation was along with solving disputes as they made sure that their was no problem for the time being.

As the marines would coordinate with the ship communities that called themselves the barangays which were boats that formed a group around themselves and often having elected officials that called themselves barangay captains. One of which coordinated with the marines as they took the cables as their form of transportation. Crossing from one barangay to another in an effort to keep the colonist as cooperative as possible. This ensured that they lower the risk of a mutiny from the towed colonist and made sure that they were eager to support the admiral in times of trouble.

As aside from some instances of thief or some of the boats sinking or lagging behind the voyage was relatively safe and uneventful. With people fishing what they could and hoping that they could keep a majority of their supplies after passing the gates. Thought they didn't need to wait long until they saw the other ships as lights on the distance soon enough revealed amassing fleet. Thought for Jazz he would get an official response from a vessel from the Chinese who had in this case used a larger ship as their flagship as it hailed them using a laser which dictated their desires for save voyage and a peaceful trip as they also as desperate as the others.

One that Jazz would return as he hailed them safe voyage and also calm weather at that as soon enough they would stop to communicate as they neared the staging ground as evident when they saw the vessel that the Americans and the western nations had brought about. One of which was an American air craft carrier likely their flagship as it was surrounded by smaller vessels. While the British brought with them their own and from the looks of it they were nuclear powered as it was still from before the war. Thought it was clear that most of it had rusted over likely a tell tale sign that the ship had barely looked afterwards.

One that also communicated as well with a laser welcoming them to the voyage to come at that. As soon enough from the horizon they would see the rumoured portal to another world. As turn to its name the gate had a massive rectangular frame which supports a gigantic humanoid gatekeeper that doesn't look human. Thought in the middle was a swearing mass of an unknown energy that pulsated but, also swirled all around them in return. All in all it was something to behold as the crew were shocked and quite amazed with how large it was as even if they went on together it was bring enough to accommodate the entire international expedition.

"Stop the engines prepare for a rest it seems that the other ships haven't gotten here." He spoke out as they soon enough sailed nearby an sea stack. Allowing them to easily check their numbers which shown them that they were lucky with all of them still here and with not much in terms of problems for the time being. As now that they had land the lucky few that got near it soon enough decided to camp it out as they took pictures from their phones and cameras wanting to give their descendances a look of the hardships and wonders their journey had yield while those in the Tamaraw would be working hard. With most of the engineers tending to the engines making sure that they were not overheating or that they were in great shape. All the while those in the infirmary and the green houses were doing their best to grow food and ensure that the injured are safe and back to work afterwards.

As Jazz would look on the reports seeing that everything is in order but, soon enough took the peace and the wait to go and make sure that every section of the ship was secured and far from in chaos. As with each passing hour more and more ships would come adding to the ever growing armada. Thought they saw that the Americans and the Chinese were more efficient and experience their forces were also running a tight schedule as they check their equipment and trained as he went towards the rock as they called it to see Robin and Carl running test on a new equipment that she developed. With the men looking forth as they saw Robin demonstrate the item in question which was a small portable handheld glider one of which had both handles for one to use both their hands on while a small toroidal sprung around pulling the waters and driving one to effectively travel under the waters.

"Seems like you all are busy." He said as he revealed himself earning the salute of the others as he motioned them to get back to business. As Carl went in quite happy to know that he was here. "How is it?" He asked while Robin was traveling under the water with ease which was perfect for their missions pertaining to navigating the waters. "Its good but, aside from close combat actions and saboteur methods I don't see it being good enough to make a difference." Replied Carl as the men were impressed he was thinking on how to apply and make it work at that.

"I see." He replied as he smiled knowing that Robin was quite safe. "You know that she is more worried about us then we are with her you know.. She is practically our mother." Carl said as Jazz soon enough sighed. "I know but, its good to know that she is doing something she wanted, knowing that she sacrificed so much for us." He said as he remembered how she was there for them and how she fought tooth and nail for them. Forging them a life on which they were happy to have at that. As while they had no parents she step up and carried the two fools up to what they are now which was a commander for the marines and finally an admiral at that. "Hopefully we be the ones to give her a future." He said happy to know that she was with them and that she would be one of the first to settle in this new world.

"True Robin never stopped trying even now.. Hope she doesn't push herself to the very edge like always." Carl spoke as he could see the sword that Jazz had gotten. " What the heck hence, did the admiral need to fight?" He asked as he saw his own before sighing in return. "You'll get yours but, where was the I hope she doesn't push herself to the very edge attitude?" He replied before laughing as the men would try out the glider and seeing that it was eager to use and the speed and sound was rather almost non-existent in return.

"But, you know mine broke and I've been wanting anew one." He told him at that as he had broken his in the last war and hence, he was impatient to have his own. "If you wanted ask her so stop trying to get mine." He replied as Robin would beckon to them. "Jazz, the test seem promising but, I won't be able to make too many just enough for a small squad." She spoke out letting them know that she was doing her best to ensure that they have enough stockpile for any problems in the future. "I've focused on making tools for the men and I've done my best to ensure we have enough steel to remake the whole Tamaraw if needed." She spoke out letting him know that they were doing well. "Thought there is a problem with the purification system as it seems that we passed a garbage patch which likely ended with it sucking something it shouldn't have." She reported with a smile knowing that those two are still so eager to be at each other's side.

"We would be able to do it easily but, it will cause some delays because of it. " She declared as she wanted to propose something to help them out with the manpower issue. "While the best artisans and engineers were chosen by the government to ensure that we have the best possible chance of enduring the voyage or any threats that his expedition could encounter but, with volumes of orders coming in and projects to finish I would like to propose an apprenticeship program that will help us accomplish the simpler assignments freeing us with enough time to work with more important aspect of the ship." She said knowing that her division and responsibilities were with every aspect of the ship from repairs, maintenance, and most of all projects to help make it efficient.

"Granted it would only make us weaker if the engineers are overwork but, we have to make sure that each and every candidate is capable and most of all not a threat to our expedition as you recall that I will prioritize this ship above all else." He said making her nod as she smiled happy to know that he welcomed the idea although with restrictions. "I'll be making a list of all the candidates for it." She spoke out in return as she went back to the others.

"Can I rely on you for this?" He asked making him nod. "I'm going to help out Robin even if its the opposite of your orders." He replied making him nod with reassurance knowing that even if he was gone their mother would be safe. "Don't worry I'm here to keep both of you from dying." He said as he looked at him just happy to know that both of them were in a place where he could protect them at that. "You better." He replied before bidding goodbye knowing that he was to meet with their biologist in return as she wanted to report something towards him.

As he would stop to look at the growing fleet. Ships from all across the world under banners of old and new all in making sure to establish themselves in this new world beyond. Thought out here he could see the titans and massive ships that they brought. Some of which were tankers retrofitted and made to contain hundreds of people while like that of the USS enterprise it was well maintained and from the looks of it still operational thought unlike its original design there were turrets on the sides showing them that the Americans were able to modify their ships after all of this time as evident by the escort vessels that surrounded it.

While that of the Chinese Shandong which looked nothing like its original design with its frame quite rusty and made into a massive evacuation centre likely in hopes of saving as many Chinese as they could in return. Of course the Japanese would be present but, they went with their destroyers one of which brought with them ferries of various sizes all to safeguard the last of their people. In the end he knew that they weren't the only ones in dire need of supplies or ships as many of the old world had scuttled their fleets after they lost the ability to keep them operational.

Yet he would not look for too long as he entered the ship once more as he went towards the medical centre where he would see her there looking quite unsure. "Its happening." She told him the moment he got in. "We're running out of medicine." She added as she was quite worried about all of this. "I'll ask the Americans for that and even the Chinese."

He told her to calm her down. "I can give you a list on what we need but, I just want to make sure that we have enough things to keep everyone healthy." She replied eager to get what they needed as she was tired from all of the check ups and the patients that she had at the moment. "You have to rest up we can't have you getting sick." He told her as he forced her to sit down. "I'll ask think of something." He told her as he gestures for the others to get her on the bed as he wanted her to rest and get better while he left his mind heavy with trying to get the medicine that they needed.

Getting back to his quarters as he started to draft a request for the Americans or anyone that they could trade with before they finally cross across the gate. With him sighing knowing that they were just a few in a sea of ships and that he had likely no sway other then their port being the nearest at that and such he prepared to get something to pay for such medication. Thought he still did his best making calculations and making sure to take out what supplies they could lose in order to gain such things thought he was prepared to take the long way if they could get such medication with the least amount of supplies lost. As such he would prepare his best making a list until the end of the day.
