“Humans don’t exist, everyone knows that.” Cha’ Tung sighed, “if you still believe these super advanced aliens that have transcended every other space faring species exists then we may just have to send you back for another psych eval.”
Cru’ Nuk wasn’t shaken in his belief one bit, they just had to exist, how else could do many species have come to gain this level of intelligence knowing how many factors there are trying to kill everything. Poisonous plants, venomous animals and insects, natural disaster and king forbid a rogue solar flare wipe out life on a planet.
“No there’s far too many things to just be mere coincidence.” Cru’ Nuk says with confidence.
Before Cha’ Tung could respond their superior officer called over, “both you chak better close your mouths and get ready. This time there will be no retreat. Death or glory!”
The room gave one unified shout and proceeded to ready the ship. Raising shields and warming up plasma cannons. It’s been years since any real breakthrough in military technology happened, but one species managed to create a new weapon along with a new armor. The weapons were what they called rail guns and the armor seemed to take almost no damage from even their toughest of weapons.
Out of the command Sidon officer Cruk’ Tull watched as over one thousand enemy ships entered local space around his fleet. They were in open space just outside of his home system, there would be no retreat. If they fell back any further they would be risking civilian casualties. Why did it have to be the damned slugs who figured out the new weapons?
Cruk’ Tull was of the Arnaki people, insectoid, bipedal, and numerous. They held over seven different systems and were in a Cold War with the Polisians. The Polisians were a slug type sentient who’s bodies were never quite uniform, they could crawl on any surface due to a sticky mucus they excrete. They have no manipulation limbs but have a type of telekinetic power that allows them to move things without touching them. No other species knows how it works, and they aren’t exactly jumping at the chance to tell anyone else.
They were always a prideful race, saying they were superior because they weren’t confined to a single appearance. But that was all they had over anyone else, until they made the new ships. We studied the materials they use for their ship hulls but haven’t been able to replicate it. It’s some sort of material that absorbs energy and stores it like a battery. Essentially the more we shoot them with any energy based weapon, the more energy they have to fight us with. Fucking cheaters.
Cruk’ Tull knew this would be where he died, this was a one on one thousand fight. They were vastly outmanned and out gunned. The only thing left was a maneuver theorized but never tested. It was never tested because due to having to put the engine into overdrive it needed to be piloted into the middle of a formation to be viable, and sacrificing a ship just to see if it would work was a disgusting waste of resources, but now he wished someone had tried so he knew that this would actually work.
The captain sent the order to the engineers to overload the black hole generator that was the power source of their ship. There were a few audible clicks as some crew mates jaws locked as they realized this would be how they died.

“My brothers and sister,” captain Cruk’ Tull began his final speech, “today we will die. Today we will give our lives to save our home. Today we become heroes. It has been an honor to serve with you all. Now, full speed to their flag ship!”
There was no response besides the order being followed. Their speed increased drastically. Their ships weren’t supposed to be able to go this fast, but the captain supposed it had something to do with the generator going crazy. A sound behind him caught his attention as the engineers entered the main deck.
The highest ranking engineer spoke up, “we apologize captain for coming aboard your deck, but we wish to be with the rest of you when we get swallowed by the black hole.”
The captain just nodded solemnly and returned his gaze to the window, watching as the enemies flag ship got closer and closer.
“Sir the shields are down!” Yelled a crew member moments after a shock rocked the ship.
“Captain, our weapons are unresponsive!” Yelled another.
None of it mattered, they passed by the first few ships and were now within the formation, there would be no more incoming fire, they would be risking friendly fire if they did. Their pilot expertly guided them to the flag ship as the ship began to shake violently.
A video communications request appears on the main screen and Cruk’ Tull ordered it be answered. It was the damn slugs with what he could only call a horrific imitation of his own species face with a smug grin.
“Hello insect, what do you think you are doing in our formation?” It sneered.
“Oh are we in your formation?” The captain asked in mock surprise, “ I’m terribly sorry, you see, we thought this was a rogue asteroid field.”
“You insignificant pest!” It’s face contorted into one of rage, “these ships are the finest in the entire Galaxy! And I will not have you- wait what is that?”
Captain Cruk’ Tull supposed the black hole was big enough now to be visible outside of the ship, meaning it would take him and his crew any second now.
The captain had only one last thing to say to the monsters he would drag to hell with him, “your doom.”
Suddenly the ship stopped shaking and the whole crew looked confused. Cruk’ Tull looked behind him to see the black hole right behind his chair, but it slowly started to retreat. ‘No, no, no, no, no. This couldn’t be happening’ the captain thought. It was all over.
“I don’t know what you were planning but it seems like it didn’t work! Open fire!” The slug commanded.
But nothing happened. “What are you doing you incompetent fools? I said fire!” The enemy commander yelled.
The captain could hear a faint voice saying something about weapons not responding. What is going on? Before his very eyes he watched as the entire thousand strong Polisian fleet disintegrate into nothingness. Cruk’ Tull couldn’t believe his eyes. The massive fleet that was threatening his entire species was just, gone, as if they had never been there to begin with.
“Pretty cool huh?” Cam a voice next to the captain causing him to jump.
“Who the hell are you? And how did you get aboard my ship?!” Cruk’ Tull asked as he sized up the alien beside him.
It had pinkish soft flesh with tufts of fur on the top of its head and on the bottom of its face. It was clothed wich was Farley rare outside of wearing specific combat armor. It was bipedal with what appeared to be binocular vision with only two arms to his races four.
“Oh yeah I suppose introductions are in order. Hi I’m a human, sorry but I won’t be giving a name. We’re not supposed to interfere much but I think that this will be an exception” the human smiled at the captain.
“I fucking knew it!” Mumbled Cru’ Nuk to himself.
The human smiled a bit wider at that, “we tend to keep to ourselves and don’t want word of us getting out too much. If everyone knew how to find us then they wouldn’t ever stop asking for help. So do me a little favor and don’t mention I was here okay?” And with that the human was gone. Not like he disappeared like the ships or teleported but just one second he was there and the next he wasn’t, nobody could remember seeing him leave.
Cru’ Nuk was the first to speak, “I can’t believe a human actually helped us!”
Cruk’ Tull turned to Cru’ Nuk and with a smile said “what are you talking about? Everyone knows humans don’t exist.”
