Qua-Toyne capital air base
On the newly renovated runway of the Qua-Toyne capital air base, about 60 A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft belonging to the 1* ground attack squadron Grifo and the 4* ground attack squadron Joker approached to land.
Everything went well and the pilots got off their aircraft safely after almost 2 hours of travel, among them were Lieutenant Colonel. Valentina de Madrez and Colonel. Renan Albuquerque.
An angry air lieutenant brigadier was waiting for them and went towards them.
"Lieutenant Colonel Valentina and Colonel Renan, I expect a good explanation for the two days' delay."
Undeterred, they saluted and explained.
"Forgive us Lieutenant Brigadier Erikson, command took a while to authorize our departure."
Renan, as Valentina's superior, was the first to speak.
"Also, along the way we ended up in the middle of a storm ." Valentina pointed out.
"The reason now is the least of it, the city of Ejey is under attack, your mission is to help defend and destroy the camping so we can retake Gim. Arm yourselves and get the hell out of here as quickly as possible."
"Yes sir!"
The technicians removed the external tanks and armed the planes, within minutes all the pilots were back.
"We have a new mission, we must head west to support the defense of the city of Ejey, as well as destroy the Lourian camp in Gim." Renan explained to them.
"The Griffon squadron will be in charge of Ejey, while the Joker squadron will attack the camp in Gim." Valentina explained what each squadron would do.
"I have a question, Colonel." One of the pilots raised his hand.
"Go ahead."
"From what I hear there are still Lourian wyverns, shouldn't we be escorted by fighters?"
"Fighter presence is not necessary, you guys read the report on the offensive capabilities of the UAB (Biological Air Unit) right?"
"Yes sir."
"They can't pose a threat to us as long as we fly at over 200km/h and pay attention to the radars."
"If you understand, then move." The lieutenant colonel ordered with her stern manner and everyone got into their planes.

Meanwhile, in the city of Ejey
City wall
"Don't let them get close!"
General Harlon was shouting to the soldiers defending the wall, on the other side of it was a sea of Lourian soldiers advancing to take the city.
All the qua tonians troops were there, the goal was to stop their advance here, an all or nothing.
"The enemy has crossed the 100 meter line!" One of the lookouts warned.
"Get the barrels ready."
The soldiers brought to the top of the wall large barrels of beer, which had a wick, which they ascended and threw, gravity did the work of directing it to the troops.
Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
By the time the barrel hit the lourians, the wick had run out and a large fire started, increased by the dry grasses of early autumn.
Many soldiers tried to put out the flames with their water canteens, only to fail futilely.
"The Brazilians did not lie when they said that nothing could put out these flames." Harlon looked at some charred bodies of soldiers while others screamed in pain.
What was inside the barrels? Simply napalm.
"They look like the flames of hell. . ." One soldier said feeling sorry for the men who were burning.
"Don't get distracted! Archers, prepare your arrows."
The main tactic Qua-Toyne was using was to rely on hitting enemies from a distance with intermittent rains of arrows with flaming tips, to increase the flame barrier.
After putting the arrow in the bow, they were waiting for the order to shoot.
"Fire!"
The arrows hit several soldiers, but most missed the target and fell a little ahead, this was because many infantry soldiers were converted into last minute archers. Those who missed contributed to increasing the flame barrier.
"I hope this way we can buy some time." Harlon was hopeful that the promised reinforcement might arrive and help them in the battle.
The Lourians continued to try to put out the flames, many used the bodies of their comrades as a shield, but still could not get through.
This situation continued until a squadron of cavalry arrived on the battlefield, they brought a large blue crystal pulled in a wagon.
"C-how is that possible? Louria shouldn't have any mana crystals." The general recognized the object and could not believe that Louria possessed such an artifact.
The cavalry escorted a man wearing a white cloak to the flame barrier, he pulled out a crystal-like gem.
When the stranger placed his hand on the mana crystal, the gem in his other hand began to glow brightly to the point of blinding the beholder.
In the moments afterwards the flames were completely frozen.
"The gods are conspiring against us, a mana crystal and a magic gem with an offensive spell."
Magic was a novel element that existed in this new world, to perform it one had to etch runes into a magic gem, most spells consumed a lot of mana so they were cast with the help of a mana storage crystal, the mage served as a conduit to direct the energy to the gem and activate it.
Many variables dictated the power of the magic, such as the quality of the gem engravings and the mana storage capacity of the crystal.
Another difficulty was the amount of existing mages, any living being had the ability to use magic, but 1% could use magic offensively because of the difficulty of being the channeler of mana, because of this each mage is an important asset.
"Don't let them get to the gates!" Harlon ordered and the archers who had stopped for being surprised started shooting arrows again.
By this point the infantry had advanced and reached the gate, the arrows did not have the effect in the face of the waves of soldiers.
A wagon with a large ariete was brought in and hammered the wooden gate, the entire wall swayed.
"Hit the ariete!"
It was already too late, on the second knock the gate collapsed.
"General Harlon, what do we do now?" One of the captains asked him.
"If the Lourians come in we are lost, we will hold them at the gate."
The invaders tried to enter the sections of the wall, but were stopped by iron gates. The defense force prevented them from advancing much further, with the formation of large iron shields and long spears impaling anyone who tried to get through.
To the foolish eye it might seem that everything was under control, but the endless hordes never seemed to end, slowly pushing back the line of shields.
The squires were giving it their all, hoping to put a stop to the Lourian advance.
"Keep holding-" The captain of the squires didn't have time to finish speaking when he was hit by a fireball.
The wyvern lourian cavalry was called to assist due to the difficulties they were facing, but the massive losses were still visible in the amount of only 100.
The presence of air support changed everything, the shield formations could no longer hold their own in the face of the air bombardment and the infantry managed to take almost half the city.
General Harlon was wounded, his back and legs burned by the flames of a wyvern that attacked him by surprise.
"Don't give up general, we have to retreat." One of his squires was pulling him behind the front line.
"My tendons have been toasted, leave me here boy." Harlon did not fear death, he lived a good life and had no regrets, but he did not want someone so young to die trying uselessly to save him.
As they were arguing, a wyvern knight spotted them and prepared to launch a fireball and kill them both.
"Run away!" Harlon grabbed a bow and arrow from a dead man and tried futilely to shoot him, with the arrow even coming close.
The squire was in shock and couldn't move, death was almost smiling down on them, when suddenly, a thudding sound in the air rang out.

Viewpoint of the 1* ground attack squadron
Lt. Col. Valentina
"Lieutenant, I am picking up dozens of unidentified objects on radar." The co-pilot warned her.
"How many are there?"
"Around 100."
"Copied."
She turned on her communicator and contacted Colonel Renan, who was in another Super Tucano a few kilometers back.
"We have about 100 UEB's ahead of us, we from Grifo Squadron will take care of them."
"I'll leave it to you Valentina."
"Roger that." After speaking with Renan, she tuned into communication with her squadron. "Aim at the air targets ahead, we'll take them down first."
"Yes ma'am."
As the A-29s flew over the city of Ejey, they aimed their machine guns at the enemy wyverns and opened fire, catching them off guard, as they thought the qua tonian air force had been extinguished.
Some wyvern riders went up after the first sortie trying to launch their fireballs, but were shot down by Herstal M3P 12x7mm machine guns.
This alerted the others who flew in different directions to get out of gun range by performing maneuvers to try to lose them, but the Super Tucanos' superior speed of 590km/h did not give them enough time.
The air combat lasted only a few minutes, with the pilots after the aerial victory, turning their attention to the infantrymen.
"UAB's down, begin the attack."
As soon as Valentina ordered, the planes dove into the enemy formations and launched their avibras skyfire 70 rockets, with each plane carrying about 64 rockets on two launchers.
The Lourians found themselves with over 400 rockets raining down on their positions, focused primarily on those within the wall.
The effect extended beyond the damage sustained, with many panicked soldiers running to escape, for these unfortunate ones fate was worse, for in the second dive the planes launched in addition to the remaining rockets the BTERM-500 thermobaric bombs and the BLG-252 cluster bombs, adding up to almost 100 bombs in total.
The soldiers' spirits were broken after a fourth strike, they dropped their weapons and ran back toward the camping in Gin, which was also under attack.
