Chapter 3: One-eyed gray dragon with his gang and iron ships

Chapter 3: One-eyed gray dragon with his gang and iron ships

Central Civil Year of 1639, January 29, 4:01pm, Principality of Qua Toine, 6th Squadron of Dragons.

In the skies of the Principality of Qua Toine, dragon knight Marl Patima was conducting a routine aerial patrol. Due to the growing tensions with the Lourians, the number of patrols had increased greatly, but it wasn't as if he didn't enjoy it. For Patima, flying with his wyvern partner was one of life's wonders. Wyverns were the cavalry of the skies, capable of flying at speeds of up to 135km/h and with the ability to launch fireballs from their mouths, they were the lords of the battlefield.

In the vast blue horizon, something caught Patima's attention: it was a gray dot that was a few kilometers away from him and seemed to be getting closer and closer. "What is that?"

It was impossible for a Lourian wyvern to be in the east of Qua Toine. The distance between the border and the far north was over 1,500km. He had heard of a ship called Mother Dragon, a naval wyvern carrier belonging to the Parpaldia Empire, but it was impossible for Louria to have this type of ship.

The object began to approach, and he could already see its silhouette. "Nothing is matching," Patima thought.

He knew he should follow standard procedures in case of airspace violation. "Air control, this is Marl Patima of the sixth wyvern squadron. I have located an unidentified object coming from the west towards Mihark."

The object passed by Patima and his wyvern. At that moment, the knight was able to get an idea of what it was like: this being was almost the size of a wyvern with a slimmer body and thin wings. To his surprise, the wings were not flapping. Patima wondered how this creature was able to fly without flapping its wings.

"The object just passed me. I will follow at a distance," the knight reported, and along with his wyvern, began to follow the strange creature. He managed to get closer and saw a rounded part in the creature's belly turn into something like an eye looking in his direction. This sent shivers down Patima's spine and made him hesitate for a second.

The creature seemed to sense his presence and increased its speed to the point where Patima could not catch up.

Port City Mihark, Mihark Air Base, 4:43 pm.

Mihark Air Base was in chaos. Wyvern riders were preparing to take off, and they had already informed the city's defense. Archers were posted on the walls, ready to help even though they couldn't do much. Captain Inne was responsible for the aerial defense of the capital city Mihark. This would be his first experience leading the city's defenses in combat.

"How long until the unidentified creature arrives?" he asked, nervousness in his voice.

"About two minutes, sir," a soldier in charge of communications responded.

The wyverns were all in the sky, waiting for the creature. They were ready for combat, with their blood boiling. On the horizon, a gray dot began to appear, and they knew that was their enemy.

"Get ready for combat!" the squadron leader shouted.

The gray creature approached and, against all expectations, passed straight through them.

"Launch the fireballs, don't let it enter the city!" the squadron leader ordered. If that gray wyvern entered the city, there would be many casualties among the civilians and innocents.

The archers on the wall tried in vain to shoot their arrows to stop it, but the creature was flying too high for their arrows to reach it.

Fortunately for the archers, the wyvern riders launched their fireballs, but they couldn't bring it down. However, it was enough to scare the gray monster and make it turn back.

At the air base, the entire situation was relayed to Captain Inne, and he was asked if they should pursue the unidentified creature. "Tell them not to. We were lucky that this abomination didn't kill any innocents."

Capital Qua Toine, Parliament, January 30th, 2029, 11:11 am.

The next day, the Qua Toine parliament debated what had happened: an unidentified creature easily penetrated Mihark's airspace and left unpunished. The country's senators were debating whether or not they should investigate where it had come from.

"I am against this idea, Prime Minister Kanata. We already have enough problems with Louria and we don't even have any clues about their origin," the Defense Minister Linus tried to convince Prime Minister Kanata not to pursue this idea.

"Minister Linus, if there is indeed a country to the west that has an iron dragon, then they may be our salvation in the war against Louria," Kanata tried to convince him.

"We don't even know if these so-called iron dragons exist. This is just a rumor they say is in the first civilization area. We are assuming it is made of iron just because of its color," the Defense Minister retorted, believing that something made of iron could never fly.

"Would you rather see our country burning in flames and civilians being enslaved? If there is the slightest chance of there being hope, then I would trade my life for it," Kanata knew that Kua Toine would be decimated in a short time by the Lourians and was doing everything he could to prevent it.

Before anyone else could say anything, a messenger who had come running down the hallway opened the door, interrupting the meeting.

"I have an urgent report!" The messenger shouted, out of breath from running there to deliver the message.

"Don't you know there is a ministerial meeting going on here?" Linus yelled at the messenger, who was startled.

"I-I'm sorry, s-sir, but the 7th coastal defense fleet two hours ago made contact with an iron dragon that led them to an armada of an unknown country," the messenger announced, and everyone was shocked because it was really true that the iron dragons existed.

"What are their intentions and what do they want?" Prime Minister Kanata asked with hopeful eyes.

"They said they are from a country called the Federative Republic of Brazil and wish to establish diplomatic relations with our nation."

Northern territorial waters of Qua Toine, 7th coastal defense fleet, 2 hours ago.

Admiral Kylor Reiner was aboard Qua Toine's flagship, the three-masted ship Mihark, which bore the name of one of the nation's most important cities and was responsible for most of the country's trade.

"Another beautiful morning," Kylor thought, sipping his coffee in the command room armchair and admiring the beautiful landscape through the small window.

His peace did not last long, as a sailor rushed into his room, as if he had seen a ghost. "S-sir, there's a dragon in the sky out there!"

"Is it one of ours?" Kylor asked, thinking it was just a wyvern that had strayed during a routine patrol.

"No sir, it's a metal dragon!" the sailor said, and the sound of something kicking the air began to grow louder and louder.

When the admiral stepped out of his cabin, he saw several sailors looking up in the direction of the strange noise's source. Kylor's eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw that such a dragon was real. The creature had a black body and had no wings, with something like windmill blades spinning very fast at the top.

"We are the navy of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and we have no hostile intentions toward you. We wish to establish first contact with your nation. Our ships are about 10 km away, and we request that you send someone," the creature requested that they send one of their ships to make contact.

"What shall we do, Admiral?" one of his officers asked the old sea wolf.

"Our flagship will go to them. The rest should wait here," he ordered, only to earn his subordinates' fearful wide-eyed stares, for if they went alone, they could easily be sunk.

10km away, Brazilian combined naval fleet, São Paulo aircraft carrier.

On board the São Paulo aircraft carrier was Captain First Class Juliano Gestalt. He was tasked with establishing first contact with the countries of this new world. However, this was to be done with utmost caution as it was not known whether the natives of this world had hostile intentions. For this mission, in addition to the aircraft carrier, there were the cruiser CMG-Liberdade, two Amazonas-class cruisers, a Juscelino Kubitschek-class destroyer, two Niterói-class frigates, and two Tamandaré-class frigates.

"Tucano one has established first contact with the natives. He is waiting for their decision." One of the flight controllers announced. Tucano one was the codename of one of the Uh-60 Black Hawk helicopters loaded on the São Paulo.

"Great, are the fighters ready for any hostile act?" Juliano asked as the last fighter was catapulted.

"The last F14 has just taken off, sir."

In the skies above the aircraft carrier, there were about 35 F14s, with 20 of them equipped with 4 AM-39 Exocet missiles and the other 10 with an anti-aircraft missile configuration of 2 AIM-54 Phoenix, 2 MBDA Mica, 2 A-Darter, and 2 MAA-1B Piranha.

"Reporting, the unknown fleet has just sent a three-masted ship. They are being directed by Tucano one."

"Get all the AH-1Z Viper in the air!" Juliano ordered, as he wanted to impress the natives of this world to persuade them from making any moves against them."

Mihark flagship, a few kilometers away.

Admiral Kylor and the entire crew could now see the fleet of this country called the "Federative Republic of Brazil". Their ships were so large that they looked like true floating islands. Their largest ship was almost 10 times the size of his flagship. In addition, various types of iron dragons were flying around them. Some were hovering in the air and looked like the one that had guided them, while others he could only see flying quickly towards their fleet, who were waiting for them. Kylor interpreted this as a warning that anything they tried would likely result in everyone dying at the hands of these creatures.

After a few minutes, they were in front of the gigantic ship. Many of his sailors asked how they would board the ship. Almost as if answering, a platform on the side descended to the height of their ship, and the admiral took about half a dozen sailors and went up on the platform. Arriving on the deck, they realized something: the whole ship was made of iron. "How can something made of iron not sink?" one of his sailors asked, but what really shocked Kylor was the size of the deck. It was even possible to have a battle up there.

A door was opened in a type of side structure of the ship, and about 15 men came out, all dressed alike in white clothes and pointing black staffs in their direction. In the middle of these men, there was one who did not carry the black staff and wore a strange hat with adornments on his shoulders. Kylor deduced that this was the leader.

"Welcome aboard the São Paulo."
