Chapter 4: diplomacy in a fantasy world

Brazilian combined naval fleet, flight deck of the São Paulo aircraft carrier.

"It's a pleasure to have you on board the São Paulo. I am Captain Juscelino Gestalt," the captain introduced himself to the guests.

"The pleasure is all mine. I am Admiral Kylor Reiner, commander of the 7th coastal defense fleet of Qua Toyne." The admiral and the captain introduced themselves and shook hands in a friendly gesture.

"Allow me to apologize on behalf of the entire Brazilian government for intruding into your territorial waters and airspace," Juscelino decided to apologize in advance for the intrusion, even though it was not intentional.

"We accept your apologies, Captain. I hope I don't offend you, but I have never heard of your country. Is it a newly formed nation?" Kylor would certainly know if there was a nation that had such a vessel.

"Allow me to answer that, Admiral Kylor." A man wearing black approached, making his way through the sailors.

"I am diplomat Henrique Segoviano. In response to your question, in fact, we were not supposed to exist in this world," the diplomat said, but the admiral did not understand and took some time to think until a shocked expression took over his face.

"Don't tell me you were transported to this world?"

"Exactly, sir. By any chance, has there been another nation that has undergone the same thing?" Henrique asked, hoping for something that could help them return to their old world.

"There is a nation to the west called Mu. They claim to have been teleported to this world, but we thought it was just a local legend." In the end, it seemed that legends were becoming true, Kylor thought.

"I see. We would like to contact them... But back to the main subject, we would like to establish diplomatic relations with your nation."

"To do that, I will have to contact parliament. This will take some time, as we will have to return to Mihark first."

"I would appreciate it if it could be done as quickly as possible." The diplomat pressed the admiral. They needed to establish relations with a nation in this new world as soon as possible.

"We are over a hundred kilometers from the nearest port. I will also need to send a messenger to the capital. This should take at least 12 hours."

"I think we can solve this problem," the admiral said as he called a sailor. "Prepare an RIB (rapid intervention boat)."

Central civil year of 1639, January 31st, Capital Qua Toyne, parliament, 8:15 AM.

Kanata was at the parliament's door, anxiously waiting for the envoy from a country called Brazil. When he heard the messenger's complete report, he was amazed by the power they possessed: a metal ship ten times larger than his own flagship, carrying dozens of iron dragons of different types. Such power was only supposed to exist in the first or second civilized area with Mu, or the Mirishial Empire.

A sound of something kicking the air began to be heard, along with the silhouette of a black creature on the horizon coming towards him. It was as the messenger had said, a being that flew without wings and had blades like a windmill spinning very fast.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"H-how is this possible?" Kanata heard the Defense Minister Linus whispering. For him, this day had already been worth it just for breaking the old man's ego.

When the creature landed, a door on the side opened and 6 people wearing strange clothes and carrying black staffs came out. They stood guard as 4 more people descended, all of them wearing identical black clothes.

One of the men came forward: "It is an honor to meet you. I am the leader of this diplomatic expedition, Henrique Segoviano."

"I am the Prime Minister Kanata. The honor is ours to have you in our country."

After the introductions, they headed to a meeting room to begin discussing state matters. The first thing Henrique discussed was the violation of Qua-Toyne's airspace by the drone and also for invading their territorial waters. Many already expected that the previous incident was related to the new country that had appeared out of nowhere by the messenger's description, which matched some aspects of the wyvern knights, while others were very surprised.

"There are no problems regarding these incidents, there were no victims or injuries, so we accept your apologies."

"I thank you for understanding the situation, Mr. Kanata."

Something had been catching the diplomat's attention since he arrived, and it was about the Prime Minister's pointed ears.

"Mr. Kanata, I would like to ask you something, but I ask that you not be offended: you are not a human, right?" Henrique was very curious.

"You are partly correct. I am half-elf, but why do you ask?" Kanata did not understand what was different about the fact that he was not human.

"The question is that in our world, there were only humans." This shocked the Qua Tonian members present. How could there be a world with only humans?

"So these are the differences between our worlds, fascinating... I guess I should start by explaining more about this world to you." Kanata pulled a glass of water to wash his throat.

"Our world has four different races, the elves like me, the dwarves, the beastmen, and the humans like you." As Kanata explained, he saw all the envoys with serious expressions on their faces.

"But then why have we only seen humans so far?" Henrique questioned why he had not seen any of these species among the sailors and citizens so far.

"It turns out that here in Qua Toyne, the majority is human, with elves being an ethnic minority, while the beastmen are in our neighboring country, the Kingdom of Quila. The other reason for this happening is because we elves have a very long life expectancy but low birth rate."

"I understand, we would like more information about the races in this world later if possible. You also mentioned a country called the Kingdom of Quila, could you give us more information about how the geopolitics works?" Henrique was ordered to get as much information about the world they were in as possible.

"Sure, the world is divided into three regions called civilized areas, with each being controlled by the major superpowers. They are: the Mirishial Empire, currently considered the most powerful nation and the center of the first civilization; the country of Mu, next as its great rival and the center of the second civilization, and finally the Parpaldia Empire in the third civilization where we are currently."

"Are there only three superpowers?"

"No, there are five in total that claim the title of superpower."

Henrique paid close attention to everything the prime minister said, all that information would be passed on to the government's top brass via a mini recorder in his pocket.

"Thank you for the information, Prime Minister Kanata. You shed some light on us."

"That's nothing, Mr. Henrique. Anyone knows this here, but let's talk a little about your nation." The real reason Kanata said all this was to make a sort of exchange, he would give basic information about the world in exchange for information about their country.

"Of course, we came here for that after all." As soon as Henrique finished speaking, his assistants handed them a document explaining the basic information about Brazil.

"Sorry, Ambassador, but we cannot read this." Minister Linus, as a half-elf who had lived for over 140 years, knew many languages, but had never seen one like this.

"What do you mean? You are speaking Portuguese, how can you not be able to read it?" The diplomatic team did not expect this, but it was obvious that there was a limit to how far coincidences could go.

"What we are speaking is the universal language used by all nations," the people in the room didn't know what this "Portuguese" was.

"That won't be a problem, I just ask that you wait a second." The diplomatic team went to the helicopter to retrieve a suitcase containing a notebook and a holographic projector. They turned it on and projected an image of the Brazilian flag onto the wall.

"The Federative Republic of Brazil is divided into 27 autonomous states, with a total area of 8,510,345.538 km² and a population of 207.8 million inhabitants, with an annual revenue of 2.4 trillion dollars." If someone looked from the outside, they would laugh at the Qua Toyne ministers who were almost white with the information given to them.

"H-How is such a large population possible?" Kanata almost shouted in disbelief.

"That's not even the most surprising, look at their territory! And that annual revenue is just ridiculous," another minister spoke.

(I apologize, but if even the original author didn't have the patience to name each of the characters, neither will I)

"Ahem..." Henrique faked a cough to regain the attention of those present. "Our economy is mainly based on exporting food, minerals, and technology."

"Mr. diplomat, I apologize for doubting you, but these numbers are simply impossible," one of the ministers spoke, and it was true since the population of Qua-Toyne was no more than ten million with a monthly income of less than 750,000 gold pieces.

"I understand the difficulty in believing this, but to prove these numbers, what do you think about seeing it with your own eyes? Our country is open to your representatives, and we would also like to establish mutual embassies."

After the meeting, both nations agreed to create embassies to facilitate communication with each other. Additionally, five days later, a delegation from Qua-Toyne headed to Brazil to analyze their real national power.
