Brasilia, Palacio do Planalto, saturday, 1:53 am.
After the Minister of Defense's statement, many ministers stood up and protested against the idea.
"THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!! HOW COULD SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN?" The Minister of Economy was the first to challenge the assumption.
"THEN HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN OUR NEIGHBORS SIMPLY DISAPPEARING?" The Air Marshal countered the minister and thus began a widespread discussion divided into two groups: one that supported the Minister of Defense and the Air Marshal, mainly composed of high-ranking commanders of the armed forces, with the argument that there was no other explanation and it was the only option that had occurred. The second group supported the Minister of Economy and went against the grain, saying that it was probably some kind of Russian or Chinese weapon.
This situation was starting to irritate the president. How could a country's leadership be in complete chaos during an unprecedented national crisis?
"SILENCE!" Arthur demanded, and everyone fell silent and sat back down, waiting for the president to express his opinion.
"If we, the chosen ones by the people, are in complete anarchy, what will happen to the country?" This calmed the spirits and made everyone reflect on what had happened.
"We must look at the facts. It is impossible that it is the work of some kind of Russian or Chinese weapon, as we would know of the existence of such a weapon." This was the logical line of thinking. If such a weapon could exist, then it would have already been discovered by intelligence agencies around the world.
"Let's not jump to conclusions. How long until we can get satellite images to find out what happened?" Arthur turned his eyes to the Air Marshal, waiting for an answer.
"One day, Mr. President. That's the time we need to direct our satellites."
"Great, we'll wait for these images to give a verdict on what happened. In the meantime, we have a bigger problem to deal with." The president was right. In a few hours, it would be dawn, and people would start waking up. It was only a matter of time before the country plunged into chaos.
"I believe we should declare a state of siege." The Army Marshal said, which generated some complaints.
"This will only cause more agitation and chaos among the people. Imagine the situation where, overnight, a state of siege was declared." The Minister of Communications positioned himself against the idea.
"What do you suggest we do? We will have commercial planes and ships leaving the country in this chaotic situation." The Army Marshal countered.
"I have the solution." The vice-president then spoke up. "We will position the navy to prevent boats and ships from leaving ports, and we will also isolate the airspace. We should wait until midday for the president to make a speech and explain the situation to the people, only then do I believe we should declare a state of siege to prevent any chaos among the population."
It seems that this solution was the best possible for this problem, but the president still decided to go a little further. "I want the navy and the air force on maximum alert. Anything that is not identified and enters our airspace or territorial waters is permitted to be shot down."
The meeting continued for another hour until it was fully decided how they would proceed. What was decided was that everything depended on what the satellites would show, about where they were and who they were with.

The following hours were filled with confusion among the population. Nobody knew what was happening. At first, they thought it was just some communication problem, but soon after, images of beaches and oceans, where the border with South American countries should be, went viral through all media outlets. The first reaction was disbelief. Most people interpreted it as fake news, but as the hours passed, more and more videos and photos were released, proving that it was not fake news. In addition, flights throughout the country and international ones were canceled, and ships were prohibited from leaving ports.

Somewhere in the Planalto Palace, a press conference was being held. Several reporters were paying attention to everything that was happening.
"We are directly from the Planalto Palace here for the entire Brazilian population. President Arthur is about to speak, and we hope he will explain what is happening at this moment in the country. I am reporter Pamela Carla, and you are watching Rede Globo."
A few seconds later, the president entered the room to give his speech.
"I start by thanking everyone who is watching me now on national television. I'll get straight to the point. I know everyone is wondering what is happening, and that's what I'm here to explain. The truth is, we don't know."
The answer that the people wanted was given to them, but not in the way they expected.
"During the late hours of January 24th, there was a great flash of light throughout the border region. After that, we lost total contact with everything outside of the country, from our embassies to foreign servers. I also confirm that all the countries that border our nation simply disappeared. In their place, there is only a vast ocean, and we do not know what lies beyond it. The only thing I ask of you is to remain calm. Our satellites are being positioned as we speak. Soon, we will know what happened. I promise you all that we will not hide anything from you. To prevent chaos from taking hold in our nation, I am declaring a state of siege. In this time of insecurity, we have to stay more united than ever! God bless Brazil."
There was no widespread chaos thanks to the military police, which were quickly mobilized to the streets. The only truly significant thing that happened was the crime rate that Arthur had fought against suddenly had a rapid increase. Many thieves took advantage of the disorder and tried to rob stores and convenience stores, but to their dismay, they were quickly arrested.

Porto Alegre Naval Base, January 29, 2025, 8:15am.
Fortunately or unfortunately, the defense minister was right. They were no longer on planet Earth. It was a shock to everyone, including President Arthur himself, who was expecting something like this, but not the result they got. What the satellites revealed was a completely different planet - several continents never seen before. Hell, even the diameter of this world differed from Earth.
As promised, the images were revealed to the people who didn't even know how to react. The first problem of knowing where they were had been solved, but it was only the first. Now, the question became how much Brazil could endure without its commercial partners, especially the oil reserves. To solve this, they needed to negotiate with the countries of this world, but how to do that if they didn't even know which countries they were? To solve this, a military drone Hermes 900 was sent. It would be launched from the aircraft carrier São Paulo at a speed of 70km/h off the coast of a continent about 1,000km west of Brazil. This was done to ensure that the drone had enough autonomy to film the region and return safely. It had been considered to send a P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, but that idea was discarded because they didn't know what was on the unknown continent and that could expose the pilots to unnecessary risks.
Almost 6 hours had passed since the drone was launched, and there was only sea on the monitor screen in front of them. Arthur was starting to get a little restless and anxious. What would the new inhabitants of this world be like? Are they human? Monsters? What is their technological level?
"Admiral, how much longer until the drone reaches the continent?" Unable to bear the anxiety any longer, he asked.
"About 2 minutes, sir. This continent is almost the size of Australia, so we won't be able to see it all." The fact that there was very little time left only increased his anxiety.
After the two minutes had passed, a first glimpse of land was seen. This served for the crew of the aircraft carrier and the personnel at the naval base who were watching to let out shouts of celebration. In the following minutes, only trees and more trees were visible. After almost 2 hours, it was possible to begin to see the first houses. By this time, Arthur was doing something else when he was notified. He immediately ran to the control room. At first glance, the houses seemed to be very simple. Even calling them houses was an exaggeration in itself. They looked very much like wooden houses from the time of the Brazilian Empire.
"Could it be that their level of development is very low?" The Admiral asked him.
"Or it's a rural area, probably something like that." Arthur's attention was captured by something strange.
They had come very close to something that looked like a giant bird that was a few meters below them, but no one could see it very well.
"Admiral, can you ask your men to direct the camera towards that thing?" The Vice President who was observing with him asked, and so it was done. When the camera turned and pointed back, something incredible was seen: it was a lizard with large wings that flapped like a bird's. The creature had only two hind legs, and there seemed to be someone on its back.
"What the hell is this?" The Air Marshal saw that creature and was stunned. Most of them didn't know what it was, except for the Defense Minister.
"It's known in popular culture as a Wyvern, a type of dragon, but it only has hind legs and it seems to be following us." Everyone looked closely and saw that the Defense Minister was right. The creature only had hind legs and was following them.
"Tell the pilots to increase speed, don't let that thing get too close!" The Admiral ordered, and it was done. The drone was flying at 160 km/h, leaving the creature behind.
"At least we know these beings are quite slow." It was a relief for most to see the creature being left behind.
Another 20 minutes passed and during that time, the number of houses increased and the wyvern continued to follow them from a distance until the drone finally reached a city. This particular city resembled the great medieval feuds, with a wall surrounding and protecting it.
"I think this answers some of our questions about their level of development." Arthur thought, but they had little time to see the city as several winged creatures appeared in front of the drone. The wyverns tried to catch up to it without success. Then, something unexpected happened: the creatures opened their mouths and began to spit a barrage of fireballs. The drone pilot, shocked by the situation, immediately increased the flight ceiling to 7,000 meters and managed to avoid the flames, with one passing very close to the left wing.
"Order it to return now! RTB (return to base) at maximum speed!" The admiral ordered, fearing to lose the drone in one of these attacks and give a potential enemy a weapon years ahead of their technology.
The drone safely left the continent without the wyverns pursuing it. Hours later, it landed safely on the aircraft carrier, with only a few burn marks on the wingtip. That day, there was the first encounter between two worlds.
