Summoning Argentina and the Falklands Islands
Chapter 14: contemplating the situation.

Chapter 14: contemplating the situation.

Esthirant, capital of the Parlpadian Empire, imperial palace.

Kaios was sweating bullets after seeing the arrival of Gra Valkas in Leiforia. He was well aware of what that huge ship meant.

"This can't be happening, first Argentina and now the Gra Valkians, where do these barbarians get so much technology?!" Arde was very confused by recent events, it seemed everyone was stepping on the empire's toes.

"From the foreign ministry we believe that the ship called Atlastar is actually of Leiforian origin and that they gave it up as a way to warn Mu in case it tries to attack Gra Valkas before the ascension exam." Hans commented.

"It is more than obvious that that battleship is a much better ship than the ones the Leiforian navy exhibited, why would they give up their best ship?" Asked Barth, the new commander-in-chief of the Imperial fleet.

"For an uncivilized country it would be impossible to maintain that armament by themselves, even if their navy is more modern than ours it depends completely on Leiforia and could only be used if the Leiforians want it, that way Leiforia makes sure that Gra Valkas is loyal." Hans explained.

"But it still doesn't take away that this ship is a threat, if Leiforia decides to intervene on the side of Altarus, Falklands or Argentina I'm afraid dark days are coming for the empire." The emperor commented with a tone of tiredness added to the dark circles under his eyes from the few hours of sleep he had been getting recently.

"Your majesty, I have a plan to make sure Mu withdraws his support for the Altarians." The one who spoke was Elto, who was already able to extract the crystal shards from her body and be healed with magic.

The emperor looked at the woman quite interested and with a twinkle in his eye, gesturing with his head for her to continue. finally some good news!

"With the appearance of the Atlastar we are sure that Mu now considers Leiforia as a much greater threat to his interests than our invasion of Altaras. However it is inevitable to give some concessions to the Muans... I propose to give them a trade offer between the two in which we sell them the Altaran magical gems at below market price and that Mirishial be the witness and intermediary nation to see that the treaty is fulfilled."

Some of those present were outraged by this proposition, among them was Mewri, the director of the finance department. "We would lose millions and millions of gold coins if we allow Mu to resell the magic stones! Besides, Mu has already delivered the planes!"

"No, I think she's right." Arde spoke. "Muans planes run on a non-magical fuel which only Mu produces, without that fuel the planes Altaras owns are nothing but wood. Besides that way a Parlpadia-Mu axis could be formed against Leiforia in the future."

These words calmed Emperor Ludius' mind, after so many problems a favorable solution to these could be seen on the horizon.

"Elto, you will be in charge of the negotiations with Mu."

"Yes your majesty."

"Now, moving on to another subject. Deputy Director Kaios, have you been able to find out anything more about Argentina or the Falklands?"

"N-no your highness, however I plan to send a diplomatic retinue to Louria to try and make contact with them." He replied somewhat fearful that he would not bring her good news.

"What diplomatic strategy do you plan to follow? Let's hope that those you plan to send don't make us start an open war again." Elto said almost as if he was a snake lunging for his victim's neck, after all the war with Altaras and Falklands were the fault of Kaios' subordinates and she almost died because of him.

"I plan to go there myself to negotiate a ceasefire, I'm sure even after what happened in Fenn there is room for tensions to lower." He replied, he could not allow the Altarian fleet, the Falklander submarine and the Argentine anti-aircraft power to combine or they would be in serious trouble.

"Don't fail me, Kaios." Said the emperor with a threatening tone. "Now, there's some more business to take care of?"

"There is something else." Who spoke was a member of the foreign relations department named Rius, pulling out a letter. "A message from the lord protector of the defensive lines at Grameus."

Hearing who it was about, the emperor could not help but give an angry snort.

"What does that traitor have to say?" With a notorious voice of disgust.

Rius opens the letter to begin reading. "That's a message to all civilized nations, the demon lord a... returned." As he read his voice became more tremulous. "We need reinforcements urgently from all sides of the world, the demons are only increasing and the order can barely keep them at bay."

A spectral silence gripped the council chamber, fear was palpable in the air.

"Send twelve thousand soldiers to Grameus along with a score of wyverns, also spread the word for volunteers. A demon invasion is the last thing we need."

Imperial Palace of Leifor.

"So... what is this demon lord and the order of the defenders?" Prince Hilas asked while drinking a cup of tea with Emperor Pieter Visser.

"The continent of Grameus is inhabited by demons, who constantly try to descend towards Philiades, devouring everything in their path. Before the defense of the continent was in the hands of the kingdom of Topa until, about 15 years ago, an exiled Parlpadian prince created the order of the defenders with the purpose of entering the territory of Grameus and building lines of forts and trenches. Never before had anyone dared to enter the territory of demons." Explained the Emperor Leiforian.

"I don't understand the local traditions but... allowing an exiled prince to win himself to form an army is not the smartest thing to say." Hilas said sipping some tea.

"That's because that prince was cursed when he arrived in Topa, the criminals or the losing side of a political dispute has three options; die, spend his whole life in a dungeon or be exiled to Grameus. Upon reaching Topa, the most powerful magicians of that kingdom curse him, tying his soul to the demon-possessed land of Grameus and, if he ever decides to leave, he will die." Replied Pieter. "Of course there are also the volunteers that each kingdom sends, it's a good way to gain combat experience while being relatively safe... or that was before the demon lord appeared."

"Is that demon lord so menacing?"

"Yes, according to the prophecies the demon lord is one of the three signs that portend the return of the Ravernal Empire."

"Ravernal Empire?" I stopped drinking to pay more attention.

"The most powerful empire this world has ever seen, which the gods decided to destroy because they threatened to go up to the stars and make war on them. But before being destroyed they managed to disappear from the face of this world, their lands, their people and their technology disappeared not before affirming to the world that they would take back control of what is theirs."

"W-what are the three signs that portend the return of that empire?"

"First, the demon lord will direct his hordes to ravage the lands of men, decimate humanity and make them bow down to their masters again when they return. Secondly, from the depths of the sea the sea monsters will rise up in order to prevent people from fleeing, they will destroy all ways in which nations can communicate to organize resistance, and finally... Great columns of fire will consume the largest cities in the whole world, earthquake will destroy what is left of those cities, powerful tsunamis will wipe out the coasts, powerful volcanoes will erupt all over the world causing every civilization to be destroyed to its foundations!... Then they will return, in a halo of resplendent glory ready to take their place..."

With this the Emperor of Leiforia finished giving his explanation., Hilas could only be silent. He wanted to dismiss all that as simple nonsense but something inside of him prevented him from discarding what the emperor was telling him.

"Maybe that's the reason we came into this world?" The prince reflected to himself, and then spoke again. "Are you planning to send volunteers even though you know that the Lord Protector, a Parlpadian, could steal some of your weapons and send them to the Parlpadians to do reverse engineering?"

"There is that risk, though... it is likely that Mu and Mirishial will send something and it would be a shame not to see how they fight, I think it is a good opportunity for you also to see how the superpowers fight Although it is likely that they send obsolete equipment."

Second superpower, Mu. Ministry of development and technology.

Technology Officer Myrus Leclerc was examining three photographs showing the Atlastar, the British submarine and the Argentine corvettes.

"The Gra Valkians have a powerful industry if they are able to create such a monster, I don't want to imagine such firepower in action." Analyzed Officer Muan. "However this must cost horrors to maintain, their fuel consumption must be exorbitant. I wonder if your country possesses the necessary resources to bring this beast into combat when required, if so then the Gra Valkians probably possess the most powerful armada in the world."

He then set his gaze on the British submarine, as he sipped some coffee from his cup.

"A fully functional submarine capable of attacking, yet where did that submarine start from? Our prototype only has an effective range of 107km submerged and I don't think they have traveled to Esthirant without being submerged, this only means that their submarine is much more advanced than the one I show. We have to be careful with them."

He then set his sights on the Argentine ships, analyzing them in detail. "They don't seem to be heavily armored and have too few guns for their strength to be air defense or ship-to-ship combat, a torpedo boat perhaps? It wouldn't be very impressive if it weren't for that ridiculous cadence and accuracy that the reports say. I would consider those reports as bullshit if it weren't for the fact that they were able to defeat a squadron of Parlpadian wyverns. With so few anti-aircraft guns it was impossible for the Argentines to survive if the report were not correct." Sipping coffee again as he came to a conclusion. "If the Argentines have that accuracy and cadence with bigger ships and guns then they would be able to stand up to our fleet. We must be more careful than the Parlpadians."

As he was finishing his report on the naval capabilities of the three nations, an officer entered his office.

"Leclerc, we must review our weapons stocks to determine what weaponry is safe to send overseas."

"Depending on where we send it, are we going to support some other nation outside the civilized area such as Altaras or one with the technological capability to reverse engineer?"

"We will send soldiers and equipment to the Order of the defenders, apparently the demons are giving more trouble than expected." replied the officer.

Hm... We can't send something too obsolete either, this is a great opportunity to test our new infantry weapons and mechanized armor. We could take the risk and bring modern weaponry." Myrus proposed.

"While Mirishial might not be interested in taking our weapons for themselves due to their preference to magic and Parlpadia might not even understand our best equipment, the real problem is Leiforia and Gra Valkas. They do have the ability to understand our weapons and replicate them, I will send your proposal to the council but I am not sure if they will accept it."

"Very well, in the meantime we should keep an eye on Philiades, Parlpadia is the target of many interesting nations that could be hostile or friendly to us."

Jin-Hark Louria Kingdom.

Hundreds of people had arrived from Argentina to Rodenius territory for research purposes. Among them students of history, anthropology and sociology had traveled in order to learn about medieval societies on the continent.

Of course, the real motive of the Argentine government for sending them was to get rid of as many social studies students as possible so that they would not make demonstrations due to the few resources that the universities were going to receive that year, thus temporarily getting rid of a destabilizing element.

"Tsk, although little time has passed our presence is already changing these societies." Said a student while seeing a wealthy family from the capital wearing modern clothes, in the city you could see people selling and buying churros, cotton candy or choripanes, there were also some products such as bicycles on the streets or soda cans...

"It was to be expected, the gendarmes let us go beyond the capital where there is no wealthy class in full westernization, we are missing out on so many things while the modernity gene expands little by little." An anthropology professor replied.

"And I thought I was going to be able to complete my thesis on the functioning of the medieval feudal system, but I can't know anything here." spoke another student, this time of history.

The disappointment of all was palpable, the Argentine government had them well guarded to avoid a tragedy so they could only go to places where there was Argentine influence.

"Awful, we technically traveled back in time and could see first hand the things that only appear in books! What a wasted opportunity!"

"I heard from the gendarmes that another nation was discovered recently, they say it's a carbon copy of Feudal Japan!"

"And we here stuck in the capital, I was lucky that the guilds in Jin-Hark weren't wiped out like in Qua-Toyne so I can work on my thesis on urban life."

"Yes, at least we have that. These guilds simply lack anti-symitism and would be exactly the same as the ones in our world."

"Well, rasism to demi-humans exists, so does that mean the furros are the Jews of this world?"

"I think that would be a good title for my thesis."

The history students who were speaking began to laugh.

"There should be some way we can go to Fenn before someone comes up with a Meiji restoration but at this rate...we're only going to be able to document the rise of the anime."

"Well... I think I have a way to be able to travel to Fenn..." One of the anthropology students commented, gaining everyone's attention. "I was showing my cell phone to some locals and some nobles offered me huge amounts of gold. If we sold some we could afford a ship secretly bound for Fenn, bribe the local guards to keep quiet and have a considerable amount in Fenn to live on without worrying about food."

"Well, cell phones in this part of the world aren't useful because there's no internet or signal, so it's essentially handheld cameras." Pondered one of the teachers. "Very well, those who are interested in visiting feudal Japan can travel, but it is necessary for some people to stay in Jin-Hark in case something happens in Fenn, it would be bad if no one knew where we are if something like an earthquake happens and we need help to get back."

Altaras Kingdom, capital city of Le Brias.

Victory celebrations were taking place in Altaras, wyverns and airplanes were flying over the capital in formations. King Taara XIV was on the balcony of his palace in front of all his people.

"My faithful subjects! Many thought it impossible, but we have succeeded in striking a blow against the tyrants of Parlpadia! We were able to defend ourselves and fight back against the most powerful fleet of the third civilization!" The entire crowd was beginning to shout in jubilation and support for their monarch. "They insulted us, humiliated us, trampled us, but no more! We have said enough! We will never again submit to another nation! This is our land and we will defend it tooth and nail from foreign aggressors!"

The nationalist fervor of this speech was contradicted by reality, to obtain the support of Mu the king of Altaras had to cede major concessions to the export of magic stones and fishing exploitation in their seas, Now Mu would possess 70% of the production of the mines and could not sell to the second civilization. In fact, King Taara would have accepted the Parlpadian ultimatum if it were not for the fact that he loved his daughter and would not tolerate her enslavement.

"The fallen during the battle are the greatest heroes ever seen in our nation, they gave their lives so that all of us can live free from the tyranny and oppression coming from the Parlpadian yoke. Their sacrifice was not in vain! Altaras and his allies will rise to victory against the forces of the evil slavering third civilization! We are not alone! The Falklanders, who have destroyed the port of Esthirant, have come to our aid thanks to the valiant efforts of Princess Lumies, my daughter! Together we will strike Parlpadia where it hurts the most, their pride!"

People began to celebrate at the new news, a wave of jubilation and Jingoistic fervor seized the capital, all the fears they once had when learning about the war with the superpower disappeared thanks to the victory and was replaced by an anti-Parlpadian furor, they were now prepared for war.

When the king left the balcony, a party started in the streets. However, no one was celebrating in the council chamber yet, the king entered the council chamber and everyone bowed.

"I am grateful that you saved my daughter and came to our aid in our worst moment, Mr. Frank."The king shakes hands with the English diplomat.

"You don't have to thank me, we're both looking for the same thing. Punish Parlpadia."

Soon everyone went to the table, where a map of the third civilization and its surroundings was expanded.

"Thanks to the fact that you destroyed the main enemy port, it will be impossible for the Parlpadians to prepare a fleet of that size in the capital, which is good since they will have to resort to a port much further from our territory if they want to launch a powerful fleet... or prepare several small fleets to meet on the high seas on a specific date." Explained the head of the Altarian Navy.

"Each of those scenarios has its advantages and disadvantages for us." Said the captain of HMS Ambush. "First of all if they decide to unify their fleet in a far away port to move forward together then it will be easier for us to destroy their dragon carriers as in the previous battle, however..."

"However, it is likely that our navy will not be able to cope with this new fleet, even if we manage to win, it is likely that we will suffer damage from which we will not be able to recover." The king spoke, who could see what would happen if they lost.

"On the other hand, if they divide their navy into different fleets…" The head of the navy was talking now. "We could hunt them down one by one by taking advantage of our superior speed and maneuverability."

"However, that would make it more difficult for our submarine to detect the dragon carriers, and since you plan to go to them before they meet, it is likely that you will not be able to count on air support." The captain of the submarine replied.

"There must be a way to go on the offensive." Said Frank, who didn't seem to like a defensive strategy.

"An attack on the capital would be suicide, even with the help of your submarine we would have waves of wyvern overlords burning down every ship and knocking all our forces out of the sky." Replied the head of the army.

"We don't have to attack the capital." The chief of the navy seemed to have a plan, he used his finger on a point on the map where a city was located. "The city of Duro is the largest industrial center of the empire and is completely unprotected, this is because in the eastern part of the empire there is nothing but water or some uncivilized country much smaller than us."

"Although now they have Argentina in the east…" Frank said to himself.

"However, it will be an exhausting trip and there is no base where you could repair the boats or shelter from the weather."The captain of the submarine seemed worried.

"But there is someone who would help us who is in the east!" The king said with a twinkle in his eye. "We can use the port of Nishinomiyako is able to shelter our fleet, in addition the city of Fenn suffered an unjustified attack by Parlpadia so it is likely that they will let us use their ports as a base of operations!" Pointing to Fenn's Island

"That's a good plan, however we won't be able to keep Hard and High at the same time." Frank was looking at Fenn's location on the map.

"The objective will be to plunder the city, dismantle and destroy its industry inflicting as much damage as possible, take everything we can and, in case of damage, go to Fenn and then again to Altaras. We will not only damage their pride but we will also deal a serious blow to the Philippadian economy." The army chief had a satisfied smile on his face.

"I will start building relationships with my counterpart the Sword King Shihan. Maybe we can get a new ally." The king rises and so the council of war dissolves.
