Standing in front of my work desk, I can't help but massage my temple while thinking about the troublesome situation that I am in right now.
"You see, Ms. Theia Aran here said that they need someone who knows the world well, and remembering that you've been in here the longest, I accidentally said your name..."
"... And because of that, they want me to be their guide to some faraway forest that they claim to have some artifact?"
"We are sure that it has the artifact that we're searching for. And you're not coming with us for free, we're going to pay you enough to make it worth it for guiding us."
Just listening to what she was saying is already making my body feel tired.
"Sorry, but I'll have to refuse. I have some stuff that I'm taking care of here."
"Are you sure, Resha? They're offering a huge amount of credits and you can forget about work for now if you go to them."
"I don't lack credits and the work is not the problem. I'm taking care of Lottie and her parents right now."
Seeing me refusing as hard as I can, Daren sighs and decides to give up convincing me. Turning my head to the black haired woman, I can't help but feel that the oncoming days would be tiring as she has the look of someone that will try to get what she wants.
Theia Aran kept visiting the Teleportation Hub daily always asking me to be her guide to the ruins that they needed to go to. Refusing every time she asked, I continued my daily routine without getting bothered about her.
Every day I kept refusing and refusing until I slowly became curious about where she wanted to go. As Daren said, I was a wanderer and explored the whole world for a long time. A world that was protected by the Authority of Protection, a world where its technological advancement was restricted to protect the beings that were living in it.
Witnessing various scenery, cultures, and lives. I was able to decide that this was the right world for me to rest.
'I'm tired.'
Thinking about everything made me feel my exhaustion catching up to me.
After a few days of trying to persuade me, she finally gave up and was able to find someone who knew the place where she was going.
Before their group left for the place where the artifact was hidden, the little girl, whom I found out was an elf, and a man with red skin and a big body with horns, whom she introduced as their group's adviser, gave me a gift as their apology for bothering me for the past week.
Seeing that they would force me to take it if I refused, I gratefully accepted the gift.
Noticing that it was food and sweets, I shared it with Lottie for her to enjoy. Seeing her smile as she ate the sweets made me glad that I accepted the gift.
Days passed by as the peaceful days came back, I was able to take some rest.
I was back to my usual routine of being bored behind the desk as I waited for people who wanted to send messages to the station above.
Watching as people enter and leave the building through the portal, I start humming a random song that I can barely remember to ease my boredom. As I was spacing out, I felt someone looking at me making me stop.

"Ah..."
Seeing a girl with a hat full of colorful feathers, I notice her carrying a guitar as she looks at me with eyes that want to hear more.
"... Is there something that I can help you with, miss?"
Asking the girl in universal language, I see her flinching as if realizing that she was just standing there listening without knowing when she looks flustered and becomes determined suddenly.
"Ah... Sorry. I was just fascinated with the song that you were humming. It sounded so familiar that I couldn't help but continue to listen to it! Can you teach me where you heard it? Oh. I'm a bard and right now I'm traveling to other planets to listen to other kinds of songs and stories!"
Hearing her talk so fast made me have a hard time understanding her.
"I apologize, I barely remember the song and can't remember where I heard it."
Hearing what I said, the determination in her eyes dims as she looks down in disappointment.
"Oh... I see... I'm sorry for bothering you."
Seeing her disappointed made me feel bad. Seeing her walk away in disappointment, I can't help but feel an inexplicable sense of familiarity watching her.
"Miss, wait a second. I don't mind humming the whole song so you can learn it, maybe you can use that to ask around where it came from."
"Ah... Really?! Thank you!"
Hearing her excited voice made me smile as she approached me and with excitement.
I started humming while waiting for people who wanted to use the communication device. As time passed, I didn't notice some people slowly gathering as they listened, I started singing other songs instead of humming making the girl take out her guitar and play it along happily as she heard more songs while recording them in a crystal.
Noticing that the sky was tinged in orange, I found out that the sun was already setting. I looked around to see that some people were around us as if enjoying the songs that I was singing.
"Didn't know that you have a good voice even while being lazy, Resha."
"Yeah, and the little miss as well. She did a good job going along the songs that you were singing."
Smiling wryly, I can't help but feel embarrassed as they praise me.
"It's getting late now, miss. Thank you for going along with me so I didn't get bored earlier."
"No no no, I should be thanking you, mister. I was able to listen to various kinds of songs! Just hearing from you already made this trip to this planet, worth it!"
"I see. I'm glad."
"Again, thank you! I'll go find myself an inn before it gets late, thank you again!"
Being energetic even when she's been playing for a long time, I wave my hand as she leaves the building making the people who have been listening disperse.
"I'm surprised that you didn't choose to be a bard instead, Resha. Though some of those songs that you were singing feel weird it still feels natural."
"Of course, it would feel weird. Those songs came from different planets. They never translated it to universal language to keep those listening know what their culture is."
"With how good it was after you translated it, I'm now curious at how they perform that on their planet."
Waving at me as he goes back to his office, I start cleaning around the desk to make sure that there's no problem.
"They will be happy if they heard that."
Finishing up the clean up, I notice a commotion outside.
Leaving the desk as I'm done, I walk out to see a group of people carrying an injured man towards the clinic. Looking at the injured man properly, I recognized him as one of the kids that I mentored before I retired from being an instructor at the adventurer's guild.
Seeing how injured he was, I opened a small hole in the air and pulled out a pill as I approached them.
"You guys, let him swallow this, or else he's not going to make it to the clinic."
Pushing out the others slightly, I was able to approach the man.
"Karn, open your mouth and swallow this."
Looking at me while having a pale face, his eyes light up a bit as he recognizes me.
Seeing him try his best to open his mouth weakly, I grab his jaw and shove the pill inside his mouth forcefully to help him swallow it. After swallowing it, his pained breath slowly calms down as color gradually comes back to his face.
"Te... acher..."
"Rest for now, Karn. You can talk later once you recover enough."
Looking at me as he tries to talk, I ask him to rest for now while looking at how serious his injury is.
"Tea... cher... fore... st... ru... ins..."
Ignoring what I said, he tries his best to speak as he looks at me intensely before he passes out from blood loss. Listening to what he said, I can't help but freeze as realization creeps into my head.
Turning around, I see Daren looking at the crowd wondering what's going on.
"Daren! Take Lottie home for today, I need to go somewhere!"
"W-wait, what's going on? Where are you going, Resh-?!"
Not bothering to explain, I stood up and jumped over the crowd towards a roof and started running through the roofs. I use my Strength to spread in my body to move faster as I pass the gate.
