Chapter 10

Staring at the night sky on the roof of the palace, I was able to relax and enjoy my day as the day when I leave the planet nears.

Informing Varda and the others in the royal family about it felt harder than I thought. Seeing the light in his eyes dim as I talked about it, I knew he was not expecting me to leave as one of the oldest being in the world.

"… Granda…"

"Hmm?"

Feeling a sudden presence appear beside me as a childlike voice calls out to me, I look in the direction where the voice came from to see a girl looking at me with an expressionless eye. Sitting up, I pat the girl's head as she hugs me.

"It looks like little Karina's concept became better than I didn't even detect her beside me, huh."

"… Nn."

Hugging me tightly as she nods, I smile bitterly knowing she must be one of the people most affected by my announcement.

Staying at the Hub Town, I was only able to get news about the happenings in the imperial city once a year. Through that, I found out that Varda was forced to have multiple wives because of the nobles who kept pestering him that there needed to be more descendants to avoid the royal family from getting wiped out in case of a disaster.

Not able to refuse it any longer, Varda took in multiple women from the nobles who followed him before the empire was built. Surprisingly, Varda took in only five women excluding his first wife. Loving six women equally was something that he was able to accomplish.

Through those six wives of his, he was able to have ten children, seven of them being boys and three of them being girls.

Grava was born from first from his first wife and Fil came in second from his third wife. Everyone was happy until the sixth wife gave birth. She gave birth to Karina while she was suffering from a serious illness that took her life as soon as she saw Karina come out as a healthy baby.

Visiting me with his wives and children, I was able to spend some time with Varda after a long time. There he asked me to take care of his wives along with Karina and Fil while he dealt with the people planning to usurp the throne that started appearing.

Not minding it, I took them in as it was also an opportunity for me to spend some time with his family.

Karina was the one who became attached to me the most through that time as she became older. After a few years, Varda finally dealt with the rebellion.

It was also that day that the whole imperial family decided to visit me once a year so they could introduce their future children to me.

"Aslan is living happily in the Hub Town with his wife and daughter. Though Lottie is just like you when you were a kid."

Patting her head as I talk about Aslan, her first son, and telling her stories about her granddaughter, Charlotte.

Nodding as she kept listening while responding from time to time as I continued talking, I couldn't help feeling nostalgic remembering the days when Karina was just beside me on the roof of my house while telling her stories when I was still traveling the stars.

As the night deepened, I decided to go back to my room after sending Karina back to her room.

Entering the room, I was surprised to see that it looked almost the same, except it got more spacious compared to before. Looking at the bookshelves, taking out one of the books only to see that it was the diary that I was writing in a thousand years ago.

This narrative has been purloined without the author's approval. Report any appearances on Amazon.

Pulling out a random book in a different spot, I noticed that it was the spear art I made when I was teaching Dainsel and the others who joined us in the battles against the last remnants of God Eaters on the planet.

Pulling out another book, I can't help but laugh as the book was a record that someone made when we were trying our hardest to make a fortress. Reading the contents made me remember the time it took us ages to finish a proper fortress as our base of operation just because none of us had any knowledge of building.

"I guess I spent a long time in this world without knowing. I'll miss this."

Muttering those words, I returned the books to the bookshelf. Looking out the window, I admire the town that's still bustling even when it's almost midnight.

A world where there's barely any technology in it has a different feeling compared to those that I traveled to when I was still chasing the followers of the God Eaters. Worlds that got different atmospheres because of how advanced they were and worlds that were just starting to advance their technology.

This world became something that I started calling home after my original world disappeared.

Sitting on the chair, I pull out the crystal from the ruins of my storage space. Watching it glow warmly while holding it made me feel an immense amount of guilt and pain, as well as yearning for the end of all those emotions.

Gazing at the warm glow of the crystal made my eyelids grow heavier as I slowly fell asleep.

-Karina Auro-

Cradling my son as I watched the fountain on a bench, I felt empty when I found out that Granda was leaving the planet. Feel the slight sunlight that slips through the leaves of the tree.

Being together with Granda the longest, I knew that he was going to leave the planet someday. However, I was expecting him to leave after I was gone. With his lifespan being so long, everyone in the family knew that outliving us was a matter of fact.

"Are you really going to continue feeling sad just because great-grandfather announced that he was leaving?"

Hearing a voice beside me, a man is casually sitting beside me out of nowhere without any sound or presence to signify that he is approaching.

"… Alfa…"

Glaring at him while holding my son tight, he smiles at me brightly.

"Don't glare at me like that, big sis. It's not like I will do anything to you or Sieg, that will make Great Grandfather hate me if I did that."

Shaking his head as he raised his hands, I went back to staring at the fountain. Feeling his stare disappear as he stares at the fountain as well silently.

"… And like how Great Grandfather wants, we need the family to be harmonious. Well, not like I do anything out of line but just pull some little tricks here and there."

Chuckling as he talks, he stretches as he leans on the bench. Just hearing his voice annoys me but I knew that he was feeling down like me after finding out.

Being the youngest and a problem child in the family, he was almost tricked by other people who wanted to usurp the throne. After getting influenced by the ambition of those who want to take over the throne, he tries to harm the others only for Granda to appear and stop him.

No one knows how Granda dealt with him but after Father pulled out the roots of the rebellion before it started, he came back to the palace as if nothing happened. Instead, he changed and only did tricks that would barely harm or injure any people around us.

"Great Grandfather is about to leave along with that Adventurer Crew that he rescued. You should go or you will regret it."

Turning around towards him, Alfa was nowhere to be seen anywhere as if he was never beside me.

Holding Sieg tightly as I resolve myself, I stand up and turn in the direction of the Arfa stable.

"Let's go say goodbye to Granda, Sieg."

Taking a step, I put more strength in my legs as I jump over the buildings while using my Concept of Soundless to cover me and Sieg. Jumping through the roofs of the buildings, I moved through the town silently.

In just a matter of minutes, I reached the Arfa stable I started running silently through the stables without anyone noticing me.

Slowing down as I reach the landing area, I look at the middle of the field to see a young Arfa lying down on the field along with Granda's back as he talks to Father.

Seeing that most of the family except Alfa are gathered, I can't help but sigh knowing that he should be watching from afar instead of saying farewell to Granda along with the others.

Walking towards them, Granda suddenly turned around to look straight at me with a smile even with the Concept of Soundless covering my presence. Father follows his gaze and frowns as he stares in my direction.

Removing the effect of the Concept of Soundless, Father's face showed surprise before smiling as well as they started approaching us.

"You're finally here, Karina. I knew asking Alfa to pick you up was the right thing."

Hearing Granda mention asking Alfa, I can't help but smile slightly as Granda and Fifth Mother were the only ones who could ask him to do something. Even when he was a problematic younger brother, he didn't have the heart to reject Granda and Fifth Mother's request.

Trying my best to talk, I was able to say my goodbye to Granda properly while Father looked at us with a shocked face.

After finishing his goodbye to the family, he climbed the Arfa's back.

"Please take care of yourself, Grandfather. And if you can, please tell Aslan to come visit sometimes."

"Sure."

As soon as he said that, the Arfa stood up and spread its wings as it started flying towards the Hub Town.

"Come back soon, Granda."
