Chapter 1

Looking outside of the window, I watch as people walk by the streets as they are illuminated by the street lamps. Looking up at the night sky outside the window, I lean on the chair to admire the glittering night sky.

As I look at the night sky, my eyelids start drooping down as I doze off only to be jolted awake by a knock on the desk making me remember about my job. Turning around, I saw a group of people wearing a much different outfit compared to the people outside standing in front of the desk that I work on.

"Is... it ok to register for us right now or should we just return tomorrow?"

"Isn't that a bit too late now, Leader? And-"

"Well, what can I do? Not like I can just decide to just go straight outside without us getting registered here. Anyways, is it ok for us to get registered now or should we come back tomorrow?"

Feeling speechless while looking at the black-haired woman who knocked on the desk as one of the people behind her spoke up.

"... Did you check which desk this is first before asking...?"

After hearing what I said, the woman looked up and back to me only to look up once again.

"...So..."

"The registration desk is the one on the right side after you get out of the teleporter room."

"... Leader, please just shut up."

Looking at them walk towards the opposite side, I felt amused with how rowdy they were compared to the quiet building.

"Uhm... sorry for disturbing you. Our Leader is a bit impulsive."

Hearing a voice in front of me, I look down to see a girl looking apologetic to me.

"Oh, don't worry about that. This is the first time you guys came in here, and you lot are not the only ones who mistakes this for the registration desk."

"Uh... eh... that's... I'm glad...? Thank you for your understanding, I'll go back to my group now."

Watching her walk back to her group and seeing one of them talk to her, I chuckle as I notice that the person is massaging their head while looking stressed.

Looking at the time, I start cleaning up and arranging the desk for the next person for the shift.

Feeling someone staring at me, I look behind me to see a small head with a colorful eye staring at me. Smiling at the small head, I gesture at it to go around the entrance.

Watching the small head disappear from the window, I finish up my cleanup and start waiting for the next shift while relaxing on the chair.

Letting out a yawn, I look at the entrance as a little girl enters and looks over in my direction. As soon as she sees me, she runs at me while going around the desk and stretches her arm open while having an expressionless face. I smile as I pick her up and place her on my lap.

"Seems like our little Lottie came to pick me up pretty early."

"Nn."

Seeing her nod her head, I start patting her head while waiting for my shift to end. Looking around the building I notice that the group earlier is gone making me realize that the peace in the building is back.

"You can go leave early today, Resha. Seeing that little Lottie is pretty early, it would be pretty boring for her to wait here with you. Knowing Natu, he's going to be late for his shift again."

Putting a cup of hot chocolate on the table, A man with red skin and black horn looks at Lottie warmly as she takes the cup and blows on it to cool it down.

"Are you sure, Daren? Someone might come here to send a message at the station above."

"Just go, I'll take care of it if someone comes. Seeing that it's about to reach 7 pm, I doubt that someone will come to use the other complicated device."

"Then I'll take my leave once Lottie finishes up the hot chocolate."

"Good."

Going around the desk, he takes a seat at the corner while watching Lottie slowly drink her cup of hot chocolate with a face full of warmth.

After finishing up her cup of hot chocolate, I bid my farewell to Daren while carrying Lottie in my arms.

"How's your school today, Lottie?"

Feeling her suddenly flinch at my question, I look at her to see her frowning as she thinks what to say making me smile. Seeing her always having an expressionless face, her showing a different expression is rare. A face that she does when she doesn’t know how to describe her day.

"Peaceful?"

Saying a single word, her frowning face went back to her usual expressionless one.

"Just peaceful? Did you make some new friends?"

Shaking her head, she hugs my neck as if she's already done getting questioned making me smile wryly from her actions.

"Ah... Lottie!"

Hearing a shout behind us, I felt Lottie raise her arm making me turn around. A little girl with blonde hair and wings on her back is looking at us while smiling along with a gentle looking woman with a wing on her back as well.

"Hello, Lottie's uncle!"

"Good evening, Mr. Resha."

"Hi Milly, and good evening to you as well, Mrs. Crystal."

After talking with Mrs. Crystal and letting Lottie play with her friend for a while, we went back to Lottie's house. Greeting her parents and eating dinner at their place, I was able to go back to my house before midnight.

Taking some medicine drink from the cold storage, I sit on the porch of my house, I look at the night sky to admire the stars as I suddenly feel my body feel exhausted and heavy. Seeing the vast starry sky made me relax and reminisce about my time on the planet.

Drinking the medicine, I felt a cold feeling spread through my body making my body feel refreshed. Lying down on the porch, I reach out to the starry sky.

"Just how much longer do I have to wait...?"

Muttering those words, I started dozing off while feeling the cold breeze of the night.
