Chapter 17

Pulling out a bottle of mead from my spatial storage, the elevator door opened up to show a spacious office-like room that contained a desk and a chair in the middle.

Stepping inside the room, the view of the planet outside the window of the office amazed me.

"You finally came out of your hiding hole, Resha."

The chair suddenly spun to show a handsome demon wearing a suit with one broken horn looking in my direction with a grin.

Riflaro, a demon god of wealth, a being that doesn't belong to any pantheon of gods. Seeing him grinning made me unable to stop myself from doing the same as I started walking towards the table.

Waving his hand, a chair appears beside the table as he gestures for me to take a seat.

"Seriously you still like to show off even though you're only using a clone of yours."

Taking a seat, I place down the bottle of mead before getting snatched away instantly.

"Oh! It's been ages since I last drank one of your creations. Vrinhal was always guarding your vault that no one was able to even try to attempt unlocking it. And just so you know, maybe this is my main body."

"As if. You're not even half as good as Canos in hiding your presence."

"Tsk. This is why I hate you, you don't even fall for my tricks. Though I'll forgive just because you brought out one of your creations."

Seeing him excitedly pour some mead into a mug made of out a horn that appeared out of nowhere, he started enjoying the smell before drinking it while enjoying the taste.

"Oh! This one tastes different. Pretty refreshing compared to the heavy-tasting ones that you give out."

"It was intentional that's why. And, let's stop beating around the bush, why did you invite me?"

Seeing him still drinking while ignoring what I said made me realize that his habit of enjoying something first before doing some serious business is still present.

Turning my gaze outside his office's window, I can't help but admire the combination of green and blue of the planet. Moving my gaze up, a shining star captured my attention.

"I've been staring at that star while waiting, you know."

Facing the window as well, Riflaro silently sips his mead somberly.

"That war took away something precious from us. Both from our stupidity, though at least you can still retrieve yours."

Remembering what happened that time made me take a deep breath. Just from a slight distraction, both of us paid dearly for that.

"And till this day, I still regret that I was afraid of using everything."

Drinking what's remaining in the bottle in one go, he turns towards me with a smile as if the somber atmosphere from earlier was just a lie. Something that he easily does after spending most of his life doing business.

"Now onto serious business! Based on what I heard when you were catching some gossip from one of my workers, that Princess of Illusion girl acting like that is pretty suspicious. Though, she might just have found someone that she fell for so if you meet her, find out which it is."

"You're just giving me some random job… well, I'll do that because I'm curious."

"And there's been talks about some guilds becoming suspicious in Alkan Galaxy. There might be something going on in there related to what you were going to talk about with Elder Hastur. As for this…"

Opening one of his drawers, he started rummaging for something before pulling out a small box. Seeing the crest on it made me wince.

"The Myriad Sky Pantheon wanted me to give this to you. I kept telling them to give it to you in person but it seems like they are still scared even though you're pitifully weak now."

"… They really act childish sometimes even when they have Star Catcher among them."

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"I would be surprised if they didn't feel scared of you after what you did."

Pulling the box towards me, a miniature formation suddenly lit up. Activating my concept, I poured a tiny amount into it before it made a clicking sound.

Opening the box, I was surprised as a small pill that I was familiar with was inside.

"This… they really are extravagant to gift something like this as an apology."

"Let me see, let me see."

Riflaro left his chair as he moved beside me to look at the contents of the box.

"Sky soul refining pill? They really are too rich for people looking like they came from a poor family."

Looking at the bracelet Shu'ath gave me, I sent a wave of mana inside it. After a few seconds, the bracelet suddenly squirmed around before two tentacles came out and transformed into an eye and a mouth.

"You haven't even left the planet for a day yet and you already called. This better be something important."

"Hoh, it's been a while since we last met, Miss Shu'ath."

Shu'ath's eye turned towards Riflaro before it made a nodding gesture as a greeting. Seeing that scene made me feel something off before dismissing those thoughts.

"Check the box. Those from the Myriad Sky Pantheon sent it as an apology after I settled down on the planet."

Turning her gaze toward the box, a tentacle grew out of the bracelet again, and grabbed the small pill inside.

"… Consume this thing when your soul crystal is in danger of shattering that way it will be more effective."

Placing down the pill inside the box, she closed it before a magic circle replaced the formation that was locking the box earlier. Another magic circle covered the box making the energy surrounding it get purified before disappearing.

"Summon me once you find something again."

Reverting into a normal metal bracelet before I was able to say my thanks. Riflaro and I stared at each other before I took the box and stored it in my spatial storage.

"Seems like you will be going to Elder Hastur now?"

"It seems so."

Placing a few more bottles of alcohol on the table.

"I'll be giving you these, better drink it sparingly unless you have a lot of time to search for me while I'm searching out."

"Hoho! You really know the way to my heart, Resha. Don't worry, I'll at least send some of my workers to you in case I find some clue about her location."

"That'll help a lot."

Knowing that one of the richest gods is helping me made me feel relief. Saying my goodbye to him, I started walking towards the elevator.

"Resha."

Hearing him call my name made me halt my steps.

"Don't fight them alone, you have your friends behind you so call for them… Well, I don't know about the others but I sure am going to help you bash their skulls."

I can't help but laugh as his serious tone suddenly disappeared instantly after saying something moving.

"Yeah yeah, I'll do that."

Waving my hand towards him, I entered the elevator turning around, I saw him looking at the bottles with his goofy smile before the elevator door closed.

"Damn handsome bastard."

I can't help but smile wryly at the thought of this guy being a god even though he was so carefree. A god that was so well-liked even though he was the one in control of the currency in the universe.

Forgetting about Riflaro's carefree behavior, I can't help but think of the problems that he passed to me without care. Knowing that he is serious under the guise of being carefree, his mentioning some guilds made me worried.

Unlike Pantheons which mostly have gods that deal closely with 'Concepts' unlike mortals, who have multiple paths in Concepts, only have gods in their upper echelon. Guilds focus on mortals that have potential, and Guilds that capture Riflaro's attention are the big ones that have multiple beings that were able to reach the fourth stage of concepts as their upper management.

Without a doubt, Riflaro already knew that those beings from the previous war already escaped their seal made him alert.

'… Those parasites really should just die.'

Deciding that I should just forget about our talks earlier for now. The elevator finally opened I left the private section of the space station, looking around the bustling space station, and decided to just take a bite before finding Theia Aran's group.

Arriving at the market area in the space station, I can't help but be surprised with the amount of people in the area compared to the one in the Hub Town only for me to remember how strict the paperwork is to enter the planet.

"Is that you, Sir Resha?"

Turning around to look behind me, I can't help but be surprised to see the elf from Theia Aran's group. Wearing clothes different from the ones when I met her on the planet, she approached me.

"Is your talk with the executive already done? We were surprised when one of the employees in here asked us to wait for some days because someone was waiting for you."

"We're already done. I'm just here to take a bite before finding your group."

"Oh… uhh… Sir Resha, can I ask you for a favor?"

Seeing her becoming nervous suddenly made me curious only for the life force that I noticed before to distract me. An unusual cut to the flow of her life force caught my attention even when I suppressed my sight to see a being's life force made my curiosity unbearable to endure.
