Chapter 3.5 - Karin Caesar's POV

My son, my little Neil is born. He was born with my red hair and his dad’s green emerald eyes. My son seems to always understand me, like when he was just born, I was extremely tired, at that time I was positive that he patted my head to tell me to sleep but when I think about it now it must of been my imagination although it did startle me.

Neil is a very fast learner. He learnt how to crawl at the age of 3 months. During this time he crawled everywhere, every time I wasn’t watching he vanishes so I had to go searching all over the place. Each time I find him, he was always looking around the house, it’s like he was exploring.

There was one time Neil was watching his father skinning the animals and looked like he was in deep thought, he then frowned. A baby at the age of 4 months was frowning; I wonder what he was thinking at that time?

One day when I went into the room I saw Neil falling off the chair, my heart thudded against my chest like a jackhammer, instinct kicked in and I ran towards him. Knowing he was injured I yelled at him but seeing him cry I calmed down. To reassure myself I used my healing spell to cure him. The scrape on his knee instantly cured and the look on his face at that moment was priceless. His jaw hung open as he stared down at his healed knee in awe.

The favourite place Neil likes around the house is the library. At first he took out some books and flipped through them but obviously he didn’t know how to read yet as he was only 6 months old. He shoved the book to me so I asked him if he want to read it. He nodded. I was astonished he knew what I was talking about, my son has to be a genius. I read him the books that he brings me and he never got bored of them. He didn’t move around or get distracted by anything, he just listened quietly.

When Neil took his first step we were completely dumbfounded, he was only 10 months old on top of that he didn’t need any assistance at all. He learnt how to run around the same time and ever since then he runs around the house every day as well as doing some odd movements.

Neil was full of surprises, at the age of 1 he said his first words, and it came so naturally like he already knew how to talk. Sometimes he looks mature for his age, one time I saw him grabbing a book to dinner so I took it away, he left and went to get another one. I talked to Lance about Neil’s development and we both came to a conclusion that our boy is a genius. His mind grew so fast that I’m afraid he will not fit in with others.

At the age of one and a half Neil does not tell me to read to him anymore instead I see him opening the books from the selves himself and just sits there for hours reading. He learns so fast that i'm not even surprised anymore. He is a genius.

There was a disturbance at a restaurant when we were having dinner and Lance had a duel with one of the drunken man. Lance was showing a bad example. Why would he fight inside the restaurant, he should have fought outside and away from my Neil. The violence is going to affect him.

NO!! My son got affected by his muscle headed father. At the age of 3...3! He asked if he could learn swordsmanship. Obviously I refused since he is so smart; he could have become a scholar instead of a brute but I can’t convince him, his eyes held a resilient determination. Instead I made a condition, since there is little chance he would have mana the condition was in my favour but if he does have mana it would be alright either way as he would be able to heal himself if injured.

During this week Neil has been spending most of the time in his room, although he still helps me with gardening, he spends hours in his room. I wonder what he is doing that would require such privacy…
