Chapter 05: Agatha

Chapter 05: Agatha

Time stopped. All sense failed. Unable to move so much as where I was looking voices came to life just out of my peripheral vison,

My mind felt like it could shatter as the first voice spoke. "This is the guy you choose?! He can hardly even think for ten seconds before wanting to be emo I hate it."

the next voice making me feel small and weak like a grain of sand before infinity, "He probably doesn't even know what 'Paramore' means and you expect him to be able to understand what great destiny he has laid out before him?"

intense jealousy and rage washed over me as another newcomer spoke, "It's not her fault entirely how could we want more from a half breed who welcomes being a slave?"

A familiar calming smooth voice spoke louder and more powerful then the previous speakers, "One simple reason. I believe in him. Besides he won't stay a slave for long, trust me."

the third jealous voice spoke again, "Trust you? well... I believe you can go fuck yourself, that's the most bullsh-"

"SILENCE." purple burning eyes appeared in front my unmoving body, slowly hovering to the staff then enveloping it with their fires. "This will be the one and only time I save you, if you are to be my equal I... you. Must be able to accept that true power comes from within you, please grow in strength... Someone... You need to reach me as soon as possible."

Time kicked back in the weapon coated entirely in purple flame, as if by instinct the staff demanded to be used. [temporary ???? tier boost] [spell available ]. Agatha turned towards me relief on her face. Missing her arm and her leg entirely frostbitten and purple. THOOM.

the calming voice bellowed, "NOW JAYCE. TRUST ME."

The purple flames crept from the hand on the staff to encasing me entirely, speaking aloud, ""

I always hated leaving Jayce to meditate while I got to go exploring through the depths but we both needed to eat, and he needed to get his class sooner rather than later. For both our sakes. Going about business as usual the sun only risen for less than two hours, Spring mornings meant the schools of tuna would be migrating through a narrow pass with large glaciers cutting off their escape, a few kilometers out. Stomach growling obnoxiously for the entire swim out to the hunting grounds not wanting to be rushed this early while also giving Jayce ample time to meditate. Swimming fast enough to be mistaken for a swordfish I ran into the usual groups of seals or families of orcas, stopping to play with the young calves and twirl around playing tag, the seals giving me a run for my money with how quickly they could maneuver and adjust their bodies. Further from the shore orca calves I would let win to see how they would excitedly nod their massive heads each time they booped me. Under the waves my top speed was much higher however the massive migration of fish weren't going anywhere so I lazily took in the sights of the ocean continuing through the semi calm seas.

The waters off the coast past the Arctic Desert were wild and untamed, the further out the more dangerous the hunts became. With one exception, the circle of hell. A two hundred kilometer drop off of the ocean floor becoming a valley with no ending. Magic was abundant with so much qualitative purity the enchanted gems that grew there were unmatched as far as I knew. Such power was basically a bright spotlight in the pitch-black countryside commanding all manner of animal and beast to seek it out. The combination of space and life magical affinities give monstrous creatures the time and means to grow in strength and size to unnatural degrees. One day, this will be my proving ground to cement myself as a [True Storm Valkyrie] Teacher was the creator of the class and so created the conditions on which it could be earned.

The sheer amount of tuna this day was unlike anything I had ever seen. From above the surface thousands of birds ranging from humanoid size to as small as a hand dove into the mass of fish to pick one out . Smaller birds waiting, bobbing with the tides at the surface to eat any discarded meat or sinew on the water. Under the water a strange truce was made with all sorts of marine predators. Large sharks sped into the ball of fish that seemed to shift and move like one singular organism. Sea Lions contorting their bodies with fluid like ease to snatch any stranglers at weird unconceivable angles. The same family of orcas would use group tactics to trick the tuna into separating from the larger community to let their young practice hunting. Such an exuberant display of life unbound by the normal rules was a spectacle, making me reminisce on the days spent learning how to fight from the splendor of marine combat and hunting.

Spending hours catching as many fish as I possibly could before returning to the glacial wall and Jayce. Diving deeper on my return to enjoy the seafloors ecosystem with beautiful icicles raining down from the thick ice above water also known as "fingers of death" spread out far and wide under neath the ice to look like a mass storm of lightning bolts held in place. Powerful currents fought me as I kept going deeper. A resounding ear-piercing shockwave was released through the water passing over then through me. The sea floor beneath me completely disappeared, in its place a bottomless pit appeared beneath me warm water floated up from this newly appeared chasm of endless depth making the opposing concepts of warmth and chill begin to make the waters much more turbulant. Eardrum rupturing roars and chittering sounds blasted out causing my ears to painfully pop and bleed into the water.

Bringing my hands over my ears muted the sound, in contrast to the bitter cold water. warm blood escaped between my fingers into the ocean. From within the massive trench a slight whipping movement caught my eye. As if the speaker was not underwater "Agatha" was whispered just behind my head. turning behind me with a start a massive ten-meter mako shark was moving at ambush speed directly towards me. Using a text box appeared in front of me [Gate Guardian- Lvl 32]. Smiling, I raised my hands in front of me and cast the water around me shivered with the gleam of magic, covering me with a black metal breastplate, boots and vambraces. Purple chainmail enveloping every curve of my hourglass muscle filled body from neck down. A large black great sword was created in my waiting hands. Charging the shark, the beast was outmatched in speed. Waiting for the creature to open it's mouth to bite, I spun using the waters resistance to whirlpool with me while moving using my weapon as a rudder to quickly change direction while in the water. Rotating the great sword over my head following with a downward slash into its soulless black eye pushing further into the body I flexed my arms and wrists to hold it in place while cutting a meter deep into the shark using its own speed to continue the attack until its now unmoving tail flew past me.

[Slain: Gate Guardian Lvl 32- experience gained]

Slaying such a massive creature in one hit was nothing new to me. Teleporting sea floor however was. Deciding between investigating the chasm or retrieving the shark's body for dinner was an easy decision as I grabbed the body pushing my great sword through its tail then using my chainmail covered hand to defend from the sharpness of the sword and returned to the surface to see what the hell was going on. Upon breaching the water line, treading water I looked around and could still see the Arctic Desert in the far distance meaning I wasn't what was teleported. Making my way quickly back to the safety of the land mass I realized Jayce wasn't where I left him, in fact the entire cave wasn't where I left it. Worried I turned back towards the sea to see where he could have gone.

"oh... fuck..."

Deep in the distance, dark storm clouds stretched over the horizon with a wave easily 150 meters tall amassing and only growing covering from one end of the horizon to the other, 100 or so kilometers away.

"Retrieve my mistresses' inamorato. Now child." the same voice spoke.

After depressingly cutting through the shark's tail and watching breakfast float to the now non existent sea floor, a bright neon blue trail glowed in the sea itself leading to a vast glacier in the far distance, halfway between the wave and where I currently was hanging onto the ice platform. Kicking off the ice I moved at max speed towards the glacier, leaping into the air like a dolphin, since rhythmically flying into the air, then diving back into the water was faster than fighting against the high-density turbulant water.
