Siren
Monster Level - III / V
Soul Type - Composite
Intelligence - Humanoid
Strength - Weak
Magic - Strong
Rarity - Uncommon
Sirens appear like very fancy harpies at first glance, with wings at their arms, hips, and head. However they have humanoid legs and feet, while strangely lacking the extra gripping talons on the arm wings. This leaves sirens with almost no ability to carefully manipulate objects. They make up for this deficiency with their unique magical song and ability to work with other monsters. In addition despite their bird like appearance, sirens favor water labyrinths and are perfectly capable of swimming and singing underwater.
The monster's most unique feature is their song magic, which becomes stronger the more sirens there are in a chorus. A single siren can only conjure up small ice spells. A duet meanwhile can boost the strength of nearby monsters. A trio gains the ability to silence other sounds in the area of their song. A quartet gains access to much more dangerous ice and water spells. And finally a full eight siren chorus gives them their most deadly skill, a powerful lure than draws in humans and leaves them helpless. As if that weren't annoying enough, other monsters seem to enjoy the presence of sirens and will not harm the creatures.
The methods of dealing with sirens are simple if dangerous. Earplugs or silence fields prevent their charm song from affection people, and strangely weaken their spells. The danger comes from willingly making yourself deaf in the middle of a dangerous labyrinth. Solo hunters should stay away from siren areas as it will be too easy to be ambushed by the other monsters which are almost certainly present.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
After that you just stab or shoot them. They're fairly fragile and have no real defenses.

Early research suggested sirens might be fey, since they do not pursue humans. However it was later discovered by tamers that the reason sirens don't blunder into traps like other monsters is because of their complete confidence in their voice. Even solo sirens will assume their song can lure in victims, and so running will only make them sing louder.
Merge
Benefits : Perfect Pitch, Water Breathing
Weaknesses : Molting, Fragile Bones
A siren merge's most noticeable changes are the wings. The merge gets the head and hip wings of the siren, while also adding a feather fringe along the arms and back. In addition siren merges seem to have more variety in the shifts they can force with their desires for an 'ideal' form. Usually those shifts are limited to natural human limits, but siren merges can get hair and eye colors completely outside human norms, and shift their bodies considerably as well. This makes siren merges a popular 'upper middle class' merge.
There's other benefits too of course. They gain the siren's water breathing ability, and a strong voice alongside perfect pitch. While they lack mimicry skills or enhanced vocal range, it's still a great benefit for a singer both casual or professional.
The downsides are twofold. There's a minor molting issue, which many feathered forms have. More troubling is the weakness of the bones for their wings. It's easy for the head or hip wings to get broken, leading a lot of pain and several medical trips. Another reason this merge is favored by those who are upper middle class. People who rely on frequent physical labor should avoid this merge unless they've stumbled into wealth.

While siren merges can't mimic the unique spells sirens use with their voice, the perfect pitch they gain allows them to more easily cast normal sound based spells. Siren merges are some of the more common mage tower 'transfer students,' and frequently do quite well if they get past the theory courses.
