Small Galaxy: Chapter 35 The True Battle. PT2

Savage looked around at his nervous command crew and gave them a lighthearted smile before turning to his own mind and contacting Aurelius. "...Arch Primarch, sir? We are going to need reinforcements at the Kineia system... I'm about to pull... some really stupid shit. I can only hope that we succeed with it, but even if we do... There's still a Priest here and we will be crippled. There's a high chance that my fleet will sustain massive casualties and be unable to support the ground troops we just sent."

Aurelius pulled up a link with the Dusk's tactical map and confirmed his situation within seconds before swiping it away and answering. "Primarch Savage. Do your best to survive, I will send reinforcements to your location. They will be prepped and ready to assist within seven minutes. You only have to survive on your own for seven minutes."

Savage nodded his head stiffly, "Yes sir... I think we can manage that as long as I pull off this plan."

One of the command crew yelled out, "Primarch, sir! The Azarians closed the gap! The fleet is about to engage in close combat!" Savage gripped his armrests hard enough to crack them as he looked down at the tactical map. The thousands upon thousands of red dots had begun to overwhelm the green dots. Seconds later the first green dot winked out of existence.

He called out to his crew, "What's the status on the warp drive?! We need to get rid of this damn Warlord before we lose our brothers and sisters! We can't let the Azarians have the time to consume their souls!"

One of the command crew checked a data pad and looked up nervously, "There's approximately one minute left until it's loaded and ready to fire!"

Savage tapped into the cameras of the fleet, watching as the Hunter-Killers darted between Azarians as they unleashed hell before eventually getting caught by one of the multitudes of tentacles. Watching as the destroyers tried to cover the Battlecruisers as they mowed the Azarians down by the hundreds within seconds. Destroyers being overwhelmed in the yellow tide of flesh before being torn apart, leaving them hanging in the void and leaving the Battlecruisers vulnerable.

Finally, he looked around the cameras of his own ship, Hundreds of Azarians were making it through the hail of point defense fire and landing on his ship with just enough time to deal some damage before they get cored by a shell.

"Fuck... They are unrelenting... The largest invasion we've ever seen for some backwater alien world... What are the chances we drew the short straw? Or is this happening everywhere?" he sighed heavily before finally pulling the command crew's attention.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

"We should only have a few seconds left before the warp drive is loaded. We've lost several ships on the other side of the horde, and our Hunter-killer squadrons are being swatted out of the sky due to the sheer number of Azarians. In these last seconds, we are going to support our brothers as much as possible. Evacuate all crewmembers to the center of the ship and focus fire on the Azarians' flank. Let the ones attacking us continue. It'll take a bit for them to reach us."

The command crew got to work relaying the message to evacuate and barricade the center of the ship. If the Azarians' forced their way in they would be met with fire from the crew.

The backline of the horde.

The Warlord watched in satisfaction as the lessers it was commanding actually followed its orders. Even with the failures, the Warlord had managed to destroy several of the demon ships. 'The Lord Disciple will be pleased. Even though I let slip that group of tiny ships, I've still managed to command the downfall of an entire Demon fleet. Not even the Lord Disciple can complain about that.'

The Warlord stared at the massive ship that had spawned the smaller ones and smiled. "The Demon's lead ship appears to have let down their outer defenses. Finish them off and let the smaller Demons feel fear! Let them despair! We will revel in their wails of pain!"

The Azarians let off the pressure on the rest of the fleet, opting to swarm the Dusk and break the Terran morale at the Warlords order. Azarians quickly occupied every available meter of hull, tearing it to shreds in an attempt to break into the behemoth ship.

Through the mass of Azarian bodies, a hole formed in the front of the ship, as if the hull simply turned to dust. Inside this hole were an array of guns that began firing toward the Warlord, with one just a bit later than the others. 'Hmpf. Those puny rocks will barely even scratch me, but I won't give them the satisfaction of wounding me in their death throes.'

The Warlord looked at the small number of asteroids it collected and flashed a feral smile, revealing its horrifying fanged maw. With hardly a thought, the Warlord offhandedly tossed the three asteroids it held toward the Dusk.

It leaned forward, watching with glee as its asteroids collided with the Terran slugs. The asteroids exploded in a shower of superheated rock and the Warlord let loose a burst of raucous laughter that rang through the minds of the Azarians.

Less than a second later, the Warlord felt a tiny pinprick. Then, the solar system gained a new sun for a moment as the warp drive detonated. For a few long seconds, the blinding blue light was all that could be seen.

The Azarian horde's backline had been completely eliminated, along with the Warlord.

On the Dusk.

Savage stood up and yelled, "FUCK YEAH! EAT SHIT CTHULHU! THOUGHT YOU COULD OUTTHROW THE FUCKING ROCK THROWERS!? WELL, FUCK YOU!" he sat back down heavily, heaving a sigh of relief.

"Now... We've gotta take care of the little shitlings that boarded our beautiful girl... The reinforcements will be here soon enough to take care of the rest now that the swarm is going to be disoriented as hell."
