Small Galaxy: Chapter 20 Basillius, The Walking Neutron Bomb.

As Basillius was beginning to create a rift Amaranth stopped him, "Before you go, you should acclimate to the authority of death. Not only has your vessel vastly increased allowing greater magiks but you have also gained the authority to an entire law of nature. Any of the lower dimensional races could be killed with but a thought and a tiny bit of the veils energies. You need to make sure you learn how to use this before you go back."

Basillius stared at her in shock before slowly looking down at his hands and sighing. "Fuck... That's... That's not a power anyone should have. Not even a god..."

Amaranth nodded her head in approval, "That's exactly what Lunisia and I told dad. This is also why he gave me the authority of death and her the authority of life. We were the only two who truly respected the lives of the lower beings in our family. Mael really wanted the authority though, hence his war and my state back then. If you think that one being should not lord over death then do not use it to kill. Learn how to wield authority and guide the souls of the dead after we repair the veil. I failed my job when I fell under Mael's spell. Because I did not guide the souls through the veil it has turned into...this."

Basillius groaned, "I am just one man... Ugh... I have to learn how to use it so I don't accidentally kill anyone. What do I need to do?"

Amaranth shrugged her shoulders. "No clue. It just naturally worked for me how I wanted it to. You, however, have a different mind from my own. Thus, there's no saying that you could prevent yourself from accidentally thinking that something shouldn't be around while using veil energy. Depending on how powerful the thought and power you're using you could kill off an entire universe. Though, you don't have the capacity for that yet. As of now, you would be limited to a planet or two."

Basillius's eye twitched and he looked at Amaranth with a look that just screamed 'what the actual fuck' before actually yelling, "What in the actual fuck do you mean!? Just a planet or two?! What happens if I have to fight the Azarians around literally any living creature?! I'm a walking disaster!"

Amaranth clicked her tongue at him, "That's why I told you not to go yet! Learn to use it well! The authority granted you godhood that will allow you to use the veils energy infinitely even in the lower realms! It makes you more powerful! You don't have to go back here to recharge as you're constantly connected! You just have to get used to using the power before you go out there and it will be fine!"

Basillius shook his head and took a deep breath, centering himself. "Sorry, I lost my cool. Though I really would have appreciated a heads-up on all of this before you did it."

She gave him an apologetic smile, "I will keep that in mind..."

He sat down heavily and focused his mind on the core of energy within him. As he steeped his mind into the core the authority came into his perception. He tried to focus on it but he found every time he attempted to he would only catch fleeting glimpses of the laws within the authority.

After a few days of constantly trying to catch glimpses of the fleeting laws, he had finally pieced together an incredibly basic understanding of them. "I think I can stop myself from accidentally killing people now. Though I have to completely shut off my ability to draw on the authority. I may eventually learn more, but for now, I want to go check on things over in my universe."

Amaranth nodded her head, "So long as you're sure."

Basillius extended his hands and let the energy flow into the spell. Five flickering green flames alighted on his fingertips and he pulled apart the veil between dimensions. "I don't even need the chants anymore at all. I can use my full power freely as if I don't have anything tying me down now."

Amaranth smiled, "That will hold true even in this lower dimension. However, it will only be so easy for you because you were born there. Your universe in particular is rather hard on us gods for some reason, though it has no effect on you as you were born there. Though now that we are tied together on the level of the soul I may be able to go into your universe with minimal detriment."

Basillius raised an eyebrow at that, "Is that why neither you, nor Mael ever personally left the rifts?" She simply nodded in reply.

He made sure to thoroughly memorize that particular weakness as he finished the rift revealing a stunned mix of Xenos and Humans on the bridge of the -Emperors Glory-.

Just after Haruhi delivered her little speech, the Atteni, Tarma's crew, and Mizan's crew all began feverishly talking to each other and attempting to talk over one another as they asked Haruhi questions.

The discordant chorus of voices grated on Haruhi's nerves and she let out an ear-piercing scream in her natural voice. The second silence descended on them ten flickering green flames popped into existence behind them. Tarma felt a familiar chill and turned to the source only to see an even more terrifying visage than before.

The group from the GC was silent as they stared into the eyes of death. Every fiber of their being was screaming to them that they needed to escape but their legs had frozen in place. Aurelius was taken aback for a moment before he cleared his throat and snapped out. "ATTENTION!!! His Majesty has finally returned victoriously from battle! Form up and salute, soldiers!"

As soon as his speech finished he gave a flourishing bow to Basillius as he slowly stepped through the rift. As Basillius saluted him back he straightened up and whispered to Basillius, "My liege, I see that you've had some... changes. Are you... Are you going to finally come out?"

Basillius brought his hand up to his forehead creating a familiar 'ding' before he stared down at Aurelius with a look that was crossed between confusion, disappointment, and him trying to stifle a laugh. "Aurelius... Do you... Do you even know what you just asked me?"

Aurelius quirked an eyebrow at him, "I'm asking if you are finally going to come out and reveal to the Empire that you are a god and hopefully unban th-... Unban the... thing..."

Basillius sighed, "No. I'm still just a man. A very tired one at that. And no. I will not be unbanning the worship of me. Though I do have a bit of an announcement to make." with that said he waved at the rift. Amaranth slowly stepped through the rift, "Oh yeah, I can feel the weakening. Though it's nowhere near to what it was before. I can do it."

Now, it was the Human's turn to be shocked. Catherine jumped up and sprinted over to Basillius, "UNCLE BASSI! No way! You finally did it huh! I've been telling you that you needed to get a girlfriend for a while now but you would always tell me that wasn't possible! Looks like you just needed to meet the right girl after all! And don't try to tell me that you two aren't a thing either! I saw how you two just looked at each other!"

Amaranth's face grew redder and redder but her expression only grew more proud and regal, as if it hadn't embarrassed her to be called out. Basillius patted her head as if she was some overly excited child, "Yep, you told me alright. Meet aunty Amaranth. She's the goddess of death."

Amaranth quickly interjected, "Not anymore! Mr. 'Not god' of death."

At that statement, a fanatical light flashed in the eyes of the Humans around. Aurelius moreso than most. Tears started streaming down his eyes and his knees buckled, dropping him into a kneeling position. "Finally... You not only found an Empress... But an Empress who made our wildest dreams come true... Lady Amaranth! Allow this lowly man to express his thanks and his wish that you take care of our lord!"

Basillius slowly put his face into his hands and groaned at the display. Amaranth, however, was extremely pleased. "Indeed! I've seen you in his memories, though I didn't have much of an impression of you through the fleeting thoughts. Seeing you in person like this I can see that you are a wonderful subject of Basillius's. I assure you that I will take care of him and I receive your thanks well."

Even the other Humans started crying tears of joy as several in the crowd shouted, "He's finally ascended! He's a true god now! I can't wait to see him beat the shit out of the Azarians! Haha! I bet he can just snap them away now! All Terran kind can finally be secure with his protection!"

Meanwhile, Basillius was just imagining how hard it would be to stop them from erecting churches and statues in his name now that an actual goddess was calling him a god.
