Small Galaxy: Chapter 24 The 1ST Grand Fleet of Terra Arrives.

Basillius sighed as he put down his datapad. I'll have to get a team on this one. They are going to need to completely rebuild your entire... well, everything dealing with any kind of connection actually. Your cyber sec is something that a kid could hack with primitive computers... Anyway, enough complaining from me I suppose. All I need from you all now is for you to let your people know we are here and grant my main fleet some clearance. Lightning shoots off from the little rifts we create for travel so we need a fair bit of space."

Azariah nodded her head, "We can get the clearance. Also, our cyber security isn't that bad. At least not by our community standards. We are a fairly unified people so we don't have that many uses for more firewalls. Crime is especially low out of our respect for the goddess."

Basillius raised an eyebrow, "Huh well ain't that awful utopian... Still, no foreign wars? Nothing for preventing an enemy from hacking?"

Azariah coughed a little, "W-well... We have had a few wars... One fairly recently against the Razerian Alliance, though it was essentially just the Razerians themselves. Their alliance isn't exactly cohesive. The devouring swarm is so shelled up that it's rare to even catch a glimpse of them. The two times they engaged us in battle it was our complete defeat. The Vespa keep themselves locked away in their gilded palaces and worry more about their own disgustingly decadent lifestyle than anything else."

Basillius considered the information for a moment before sighing. "So you've had wars... and you still have adblockers as your major firewalls. I can almost guarantee that they've hacked into your system and use it to spy on you. They wouldn't do anything major for fear that you might wisen up and actually work on getting security. After all, it was one race battling seventeen other collective races. They must have used superior information warfare to keep you at bay."

Azariah herself let a heavy sigh out. "So that's why they seemed to be able to tell the future. Well... You will have my thanks for rebuilding our networks and your fleet is approved. Here are the nearest coordinates that fit your fleet's prerequisites." She handed him a small device that projected every bit of detailed information on the coordinates he could possibly ask for.

Basillius took a quick glance through the information and called Aurelius who immediately picked up, "Lord Basillius! What can I do for you, sir?"

"I need you to bring the fleet to this set of coordinates. Also, prepare a suitable selection of engineers and scientists from every walk of life. Just giving them the data to pour over would take forever. Make sure your team can bring these little guys up to speed within a week. Mael won't wait that long so we are going to have to do most of the heavy lifting until your team gets them up to snuff."

Aurelius snapped off a salute to the air, "It will be done. The fleet will be there in seconds as we were already prepared to move on your signal."

The communication cut out and immediately after Basillius could feel a tear in the universe begin opening. He turned to Amaranth. "I've gotten more sensitive to these things now? I can feel the universe bending, warping, and tearing open... It's... a novel experience."

She chuckled at him, "Well of course! You are a god now. It's only natural for you to feel the very laws of the universe you're in on a far deeper level than you ever would have before."

Basillius just grunted in response.

Meanwhile, on another part of the planet, Captain Vrillex was throwing Raiala a birthday party at an open bar on a resort island with a wonderful view of the night sky. He gazed up at the sky dotted with a myriad of stars with his bleary, drunken gaze and gave a weak smile as the Terrans came to mind. As he lost himself in his thoughts he noticed the birth of a new, bright red star.

The red star spiderwebbed like broken glass as what Vrillex knew to be lightning spewed forth uncontrollably. His eyes went wide and he rubbed them frantically in the hopes that it was some drunken delusion. However, the more he rubbed them the more he realized it was real. The realization was like a bucket of ice water dumped over him. He ran inside and frantically yelled out "THE TERRANS ARE HERE!!!!" over and over until the horrifying sound that they all recognized came roaring out of the heavens.

Vrillex's entire crew felt a cold sweat drip down their backs as the sound filled their surroundings. A deep, rumbling roar, not loud enough to cause pain, but loud enough that not a single being could miss it. Vrillex grabbed Raiala and picked her up before trying to jog while holding the drunken woman. His crew dragged behind with panic as they tried to get their bearings.

He only had to make it to his ship, if he could make it to the High Council in time, they might yet be saved. That's when he looked up at the dot and saw that the spider webbing had receded, but there were more dots winking into existence everywhere around that first dot. Vrillex stopped and gasped. "A full invasion force... This world is doomed, I must evacuate the council immediately," He said as he picked up the pace as far as he was comfortable with.

All seven crewmembers were staring up as the night sky became significantly brighter. The Terran fleet was moving closer, and at a pace that would catch them completely flat-footed. Once they were at the ship, Vrillex set the drunken birthday girl down and bolted inside to start the ship. two minutes later the crew (minus Raiala) were at all of their stations and ready to liftoff. Vrillex gunned the engines to max dodging the air traffic from the panicked civilians who were trying to get as far away as they could. "Fuck! This is my fault! I must have led them here! Fucking shit!"

His crew gazed at him with panic-stricken faces as he weaved through the hail of outgoing traffic like a needle through a storm. They eyed the gleaming silver dot in the distance with some trepidation as they imagined what would happen to them if they left too late.

Back in the Council chambers, Basillius decided to get the talks about having Catherine take the seat of the Terran Councilor rolling. "So, Azariah. You said that we were to be granted a seat on the Council. I would like to elect Catherine DuLacy. You had your first contact with her, and she absolutely loves you all... Though, admittedly maybe a bit too much. However, she is incredibly intelligent and would be able to ensure that our relations go smoothly. To keep her on track, I would also like to bring in assistants for her. Are these terms acceptable?"

Azariah seemed to consider Catherine for a moment before nodding her head, "If she is as you say, then I don't see why not. Though I will point out that she did not seem so... Diplomatically inclined on first contact. But, if it is to be your will that she works to redeem herself on that front. So be it."

Catherine immediately beamed and started almost literally jumping for joy as she squeezed out a muted, "Yes! yes! yes!" and pumped her fist.
