Small Galaxy: Chapter 22 The Galactic Compact High Council. PT.2

A council member that was shrouded in the darkness yelled, "Heretical nonsense! There's absolutely no way an actual god or goddess would simply show up in front of us here! Especially not one of death! It makes no sense whatsoever! This is obviously a ploy set by the Terran monstrosities!"

Malenth who had been prostrating before Basillius turned his withered eyes over towards the sound and smiled, "Ah esteemed Councilor Venn... Do you doubt my eyes? You know well that my eyes were blessed by those Myriad Hells. I may not be able to see anything in this plane of existence properly any longer, but I can clearly see into the Hells and make out the energies and laws of hell as a result. These two clearly have an abundance of said energies and laws. I could tell at first glance that this man was at least an apostle. They are telling the truth."

Venn stared into the milky green eyes of the Moguran Councilor with disgust. "I will never understand why we let you death cultists join the GC... You would have been much better off with those Razerian scum."

Azariah barked out harshly towards Venn, "Councilor Venn! I will not abide by such ridiculous and disgusting comments within these hallowed chambers! I too am a follower of Lunisia, but I find your comment to be nothing but divisive and cruel! I know that your race is prone to saying and doing things that they don't mean out of fear... but you've gone truly far this time, Venn."

Venn looked around at all the sharp gazes around him and started to tremble in a mixture of shame and fear. "I-I... I am just afraid that with the actual god of death here people will shun Lunisia's light! She is our beacon in the great void that leads us to a good afterlife! What if him showing up breaks our journey back to Lunisia's embrace? I... I just fear for us... All of us."

Basillius let out a deep sigh that resounded throughout the silver chamber before looking at Venn with pity. "Listen here Rabb-... Venn. I am not going to be trying to convert anyone to any other religion, especially not one worshipping me. My own people have been trying that for centuries now to no avail, at least not publicly. So no, you won't have anything to fear about me taking over your religion. Now please, quiet the fuck down. The longer we spend talking about dumb shit like this, the more time Mael has to literally scour worlds of life."

This shut up everyone in the room. All of the Councilors had shocked or sad expressions. Catherine slowly walked up from the rift behind Basillius and gave him a stern look. "Now why'd you have to make all the fluffers sad! There's no need to worry them with all of this. I know you can fight off that baddie no matter where he shows up. I know you'll repair the veil one day too."

Basillius gave her a soft smile and rolled his eyes, "Sorry for making the fluffy ones sad Cath. Thanks for saddling me with more work too. Now I not only have to stop an interdimensional invasion from the god of time while managing an intergalactic Empire... I also have to repair the entire veil as well..."

Tarma and the crew stepped out from behind the two giants and Tarma coughed into his hand. "Hello, fellow Councilors. I have returned from my mission safely... Yet, I was unable to attain results due to... circumstances between gods. As such, I am bringing my opinion to the fore here and now. I have spent a small amount of time with these Terrans, but I can assure you that they are not evil. They were compassionate even in the face of an attack from a god. Seeing that the Emperor himself was willing to personally sacrifice himself for some unknowns that showed up of their own accord such as I and Mizan... I believe it impossible to dislike the man."

Azariah breathed a sigh of relief. "Tarma... Thank the goddess you are alright. We saw the footage of their battle and feared the worst. We also saw the Terran take the aforementioned attack. I also believed this to be sufficient evidence of the Terran compassion, while the previous fight was proof of the Terran might."

Tarma gave her a strange look, "You saw the fight? Was it through Mizan's ship?"

Azariah nodded her head in response and Tarma's look became even more strange. "So you're saying that you all saw all of that as well, including the fact that he risked himself to save a Fellis... And you are all still like this? This stubborn and inflexible? My people are known for their hard-headedness, but you all seem to have decided to surpass my people in this aspect. I can smell the scent of fear all around this room. It's not just Venn. How many of you have been sitting back in the cover of the darkness without speaking up simply because you were afraid of him? How many of you were looking unfavorably upon an alliance with the Terrans simply because they are strong? Hmph. Cowardice. At the very least come up here and introduce yourselves to Basillius and display that we aren't meek little creatures undeserving of an alliance."

As soon as Tarma made his point a snake similar to a python with a larger body slithered its way over to Basillius. "Thank you for your words Tarma. They were good for waking up many of us. Ahem... My name is Rezla. I am the High Councilor of the Sithis. I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. The video, your entrance, and then the strange conversations that seemed to flip everywhere were very... confusing to me. I meant no disrespect."

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

Basillius gave her a smile and nodded in thanks, "Thank you, Rezla. I will admit. It was kind of hectic when I got here and my entrance itself was... less than desirable for me as well. I hope that we can form this alliance soon."

Rezla bowed her head before slithering off to the side and nodding towards one of the booths. What looked like an upscaled bearded dragon in white robes depicting Lunisia stepped up towards Basillius with a shaky tremble to his legs, "I am called Grokt'Lek of the Rok'Ta. I apologize for my fear, it is not directed towards you so much as it is the... well... cold feeling you give off. I look favorably upon this alliance." with that he quickly bowed his head and walked away.

Soon after a bipedal hyena in what could only be described as something a flight attendant would've worn in the 21st century walked straight up to Basillius, staring him in the eye. The hyena narrowed her eyes at Basillius and then flattened her ears and barred her teeth before looking down and kneeling to Basillius. "My name is Gracie. I am pleased to make your acquaintance, oh powerful one. The Hetanians will lend you their claw, and I hope that you will lend yours in return." she said, as she stood up to her full height.

Basillius couldn't un-see it. He definitely saw it and it would be in his mind forever, the hyena was sporting quite the tent as she spoke to him. "Ah... um, yes. We will be lending you manpower as well as technology. We have to get you up.... uhhhh... get you to an acceptable level of military might... it was a pleasu-.... it was really nice meeting you, Gracie." As she walked away and the next one began to walk up he was still trying to make sense of the whole introduction with Gracie seemed like everything she did was a contradiction up until the very end.

A fennec dressed in a bright red fuzzy gambeson with animated cartoons of himself doing dances stepped up to Basillius with an elegant stride. The fennec swished its tail in front of its face slowly as it sauntered to Basillius, as it reached Basillius it did a spin and flourished its arm as it took a bow. "I am the esteemed Sal! I am most pleased to meet such another magnificent male specimen such as yourself! You just exude 'Manliness', it gives me shivers! I will admit, I was slightly afraid of you at first. But you have shown yourself to have a refined personality beneath that deathly and menacing exterior. Will you be arming my species with greater knowledge? If so, that would be, *kisses fingers* magnificent!" he said, as he flicked his oversized ears.

Basillius was just staring at this tiny fox in utter confusion. He had already gotten used to Saren, but this personality and Saren's were like night and day. "Well, thank you for the compliments... You are quite the uhhh... specimen, yourself. Very outgoing, certainly. I look forward to the coming cultural and scientific exchanges, I will make sure to send engineers and scientists to assist you in anything you need."

Saren poked at Basillius' leg, "Don't take him the wrong way, Sal may be a bit eccentric but his skills are why he's here. Many of his political opponents have fallen due to underestimating him. He takes our people's future quite seriously."

Basillius nodded at him, somewhat relieved that the space zootopia wasn't as weird as he thought it was. He looked back up to see a Meerkat in resplendent golden robes walking up to him. "Hello there, I am personally pleased to meet you. Though, I will freely admit that I was originally terrified of you. When you warped in and these fools started talking about worshipping you, well, I thought the world had gone mad. You seem sensible, however, so I humbly apologize for my misconceptions. May we take each other, hand in hand from this point forward... Oh right, my name is Ment, Grand chancellor of the Ketti empire." he said, taking a slight bow.

Basillius was pleasantly surprised by how Ment talked to him and he gave Ment a relieved smile, "I too, apologize for my abrupt intrusion. As for the alliance, I will again, do my utmost to ensure you are all strong enough to fight the Azarians and protect yourselves."

The next one in line floated towards Basillius in a tank of water Basillius noted that it bore an uncanny resemblance to a tiger shark. "My name is Grek Taka of the Shak'Uru. Our people are fearsome warriors so I can appreciate the martial appearance of your fleets, as well as yourself. Your people and my own will undoubtedly get along. I feel the power of the hunt coursing through your veins."

Basillius smiled at him, "Thank you for the compliment. I'll make sure to supply you with some suits that will allow you to walk around without that bowl."

The fish tank slowly floated back as the next in line revealed itself. Basillius was watching with curiosity as the next in line walked forward with metal steps. A dolphin, wearing a body suit that was hooked up to some cybernetic legs. It stopped a couple of feet in front of Basillius and put its flippers together. "My name is Lela of the Fel. My people are ready to mobilize and fight whenever you are ready. Hopefully, our little alliance will be fruitful." she said, before turning and walking away, without waiting for a response.

"Nice to meet you too...? Well, whatever. I did need to speed this up a bit."

The next in line was sauntering up while staring Basillius in the eye. Basillius couldn't believe his eyes. The one incoming was a Lemur with a green and yellow crown. The Lemur sauntered up to Basillius and spun twice before gracefully ending in a bow. " King Julian of all Lulu kind, at your service. You should come and experience one of the festivals my people throw sometime. They happen once every few hours so just stop by and have some fun! We really like to move it to the beat of the music! " he said, with a mad glint in his eye.

Basillius let his jaw hang open for a second. He thought to himself. 'What were the fucking chances of that? A kid's movie from the early 2000s got it right? What even is this? We literally have to be living one big cosmic joke.' Basillius cleared his throat and bowed to the tiny creature while trying not to laugh. "Well met Julian... We uhh, we love to party as well. I am certain some of my people would love to experience your parties."
