Chapter 26 - Memories

Chapter 26 - Memories

After searching for five minutes he located a cloth shop. From there he bought a black robe which cost 35 silver. Its quality was not that good, but Leo did not mind as it was destined to be covered in blood. The clothes were of a much better fit to him than the ones Gerard had given him.

Leo did not spend too much time in the shop he left as soon as he bought the black dress. His next aim was to locate a medical shop.

After another 5 minutes of searching, he found an old shop made of wood that looked like bamboo sticks. The inside of the shop was filled with various herbs all neatly kept inside baskets. There were some on the floor while others were hung with a thin rope from the ceiling. All the herbs had a dark green color to them and the smell was unlike anything else he had smelled in this world before.

Towards the end with his back facing the wall and sitting on a chair was a man with a bowl made of stone and an oval rock which he used to grind the dark green herbs. After the herbs were crushed he took a small circular white container and opened it in half, then he places the crushed herbs in it and closed the container. The container in his hands shined for five seconds before dying out.

“An Elemental user?” Leo wondered since what the man used was magic, it was only logical to assume it.

When the man saw Leo approaching him, he looked towards Leo.

“Do you have the pill that can be crushed into powder and placed on wounds?” Leo asked the man. He took the decision to buy this pill because he had seen its effects on himself and Xander also this was the only medical pill he knew of.

The man’s right eyebrow went up as he got up from the chair and placed the bowl down. He then walked towards the back where a small room stood. After 30 seconds the man came out with a small clear container. He then gave it to Leo.

Inside the container were 10 white pills “These are called ‘White Tulip Healing Pills‘ I make them myself I do not have the pills you are looking for, however these work in the same way and are more natural.”

Leo found no other pill shop in the area so he decided to buy these “How much is it?”

“Each cost 10 silver so that’s about 100 silver.”

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

Leo did not feel like spending 100 silver for the pills as he had no idea how effective they were “I’ll take 5 for now.”

The man took the container back from Leo and took out five pills then he gave the rest to Leo who gave him 50 silver.

He already used 85 silver from the mission reward which meant he was left with 65 silver plus the money he had before.

Leo now had nothing to do, so he decided he would look around as he was at the back end of the village.

Orange and red covered the entire sky. The cold wind blew past his skin and clothes. The sound was minimal in the area as there were fewer people present.

Leo walked out of the back gate and entered a new area.

What lay before him was a massive farmland. There were countless crops he had never seen before. Some were green while others were brown. They were separated by lines that were dug out so water could flow. Leo guessed the water was being pulled from a nearby river.

There were many animals that were kept inside wooden fences. All the animals were of various shapes and sizes. He saw one with three horns protruding from its head and with a body like a buffalo it moved its tail left and right as it fed on a stack of grass near it. Then there were smaller ones as well these ran in large groups. They had light gray skin with round faces.

As he walked through the place where animals were kept he noticed a peculiar one. It belonged to the first species of animals he saw with three horns and body like a buffalo. It was trying to reach a green fruit that was outside the fence. It tried its best, however, it could not fit through the fence and was unable to get the fruit it so badly wanted.

Feeling pity for the poor animal Leo took the fruit. The fruit felt hard to his touch it felt like an orange to Leo, but at the same time, it did not look like an orange. It was green with a black stem and small holes on its surface. When he offered the fruit to the animal It swiftly picked up the fruit with its square teeth and began eating the fruit as its tailed moved left to right.

Sounds of laughter filled his ears. Turning his head to look at the source Leo saw that it was caused by children playing with the small animals he had seen before. They all looked happy even the animals looked happy, however, seeing this scene ignited memories of his past life. A memory he so badly wanted to forget, but could not, no matter how hard he tried.

He had no parents nor any siblings for as long as he could remember. He had grown up in an old orphanage. The caretakers never cared for any of the children present there so all of them were left to manage on their own.

Leo back then was bright and fun loving. He really loved to mess with others. All the children in the orphanage were really close with each other. They would help and play with each other always.

The old and broken corridors were filled with the laughter of these children who managed to find happiness even when everything around them looked bleak. They were like the stars that shined in the night sky.

But the world is cruel it will never tolerate happiness that is why one day it all vanished.
