“Check out this card.”
Roxy held her new adventurers card in her hands. It shone a brilliant green in the light.
“Roxy… Rank E?”
“Don’t worry I can go on higher level quests if I join a higher level party. This way I can rank up faster too. I just signed up after all.”
“So about before…”
Aqua spoke up.
“Yes?”
“What is your plan then?”
“Hahaha… Well there is none! I’m not even sure these rainbow rabbits even exist!”
They both stood shocked for a second.
“Why would we fail this quest for nothing then?”
A huge smirk was on her face. To which Ray replied with a confused face.
“Do you see the quest?”
“Yeah?”
“Look who it’s from. It has the biggest trading company in Alcard’s seal on it. That’s the Chrysalis Merchant Company”
“Chrysalis Merchant Company?!?”
“You know of it?”
“I didn’t think I’d hear the name again so soon.”
“So you're in?”
“Definitely. There’s someone I need to talk to anyway.”
Ray seemed to pick it up faster than Aqua.
“So we just gained the contempt of a huge company for what?”
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“No Aqua, we’ll get the money if it in fact, doesn't exist.”
“You guys want to make a fake rainbow rabbit hide?”
“It’s not fake if it never existed anyway.”
“If anything we’re giving it life.”
“Right…”
“First let’s see if this is possible. Let’s meet whoever made this request and see if they know it’s impossible.”
In roughly the center of the market was a large building with a line reaching outside the store.
“That can’t be it, right?”
“That’s it.”
Ray looked at the sign on the front of the building.
“Oh… well, who wants to wait in the line!”
“We’re all waiting!”
Aqua crushed his hope. His face was filled with disappointment.
“Let me see the quest.”
Roxy handed it to Ray as he took off and passed his cloak to her. He made his way to the front of the line.
“What are you-?”
His demeanour changed as he spoke to the guard at the front of the building.
“Hello sir, I have an inquiry about this quest I’ve taken on. Would it be possible for me and my comrades to have an audience with whoever made this request?”
The guard looked him and the quest up and down, locking his eyes onto the golden axe at Rays back.
“Yes yes! Please follow me!”
He bowed twice while Ray made a hand signal to come over.
“See that? Pretty cool right.”
“Wow, you acted like an actual adventurer there for a second.”
“Hey!”
While Aqua was teasing Ray, Roxy was lost in thought.
“Did you always have that axe?”
When she took a closer look, she saw the detail on the axe, the intricate carvings surrounding a green gemstone in the center. Ray took his cloak back and put it on.
“I guess I didn’t at one point.”
“Where did you get it from? It looks expensive… Maybe if you sell it we can-”
“-I was given this. I’m sorry but it’s something that can’t be sold.”
“Is that why I’ve never seen you use it?”
“No, it’s more simple than that. I can’t.”
“You can’t?”
“Not anymore. We all got secrets, right?”
“We're here!”
After going up two sets of stairs they were at a door. The guard knocked on the door.
“There are some adventurers here to talk to you about a quest.”
“Come in!”
They opened the door and the guard left. Inside was a woman with long white hair reaching below her shoulders and cloudy blue eyes. The two pointy striped snow white ears on her head shot up at them.
