Now at the guild, they were to head to the guild masters office, only one goal in mind, to find Roxy. They walked up to the receptionist. She had brown hair and eyes and a welcoming expression on her face.
“Hey, can we meet the guild master? He said to come and meet him.”
“Oh, you must be Ray and Aqua then. Everyone heard what you did earlier. Thank you both. He’s upstairs to the right.”
“I guess we’re famous now.”
“It still doesn't feel real.”
They knocked on the door and a voice came from inside.
“Come in!”
As they opened the door they could see piles of paperwork on his desk which he quickly put away.
“Ray and Aqua! I was just expecting you to come. So, before you ask anything I have to ask you. Would you like to both become rank B adventurers?”
“Isn’t it a long process to even become rank C?”
“Yeah, we don’t have the time to rank that high, sorry.”
“No, I'm not asking you to work all the way to it.”
“Huh?”
“I want to promote you both straight from E to B. Only if you want to sign up to be an adventurer of course.”
“I think it could be very useful in lots of things.”
“True, well, we have no reason not to accept, but what’s the catch?”
“Haha, sharp too? Well the job is simple, just go to the weapons shop down the street and pick something up. Tell them the guild master sent you, they’ll know what I mean.”
“And it’s not something extremely dangerous, right?”
“Don’t worry I wouldn’t do that… At least not for your first quest.”
“Well what do you say we sign up, Ray?”
“I don’t have a reason to not accept. I’m in.”
“Great, all you have to do is go to reception and they will hook you up.”
They went downstairs and talked to the reception lady.
“We’d like to become adventurers.”
“Alright, who’s first?”
“I’ll go.”
“First you have to put your hand on this magic crystal ball and pour your magic into it, it will show you what affinities you have for magic.”
“Like this?”
Aqua put her hand on the ball, it faded from a grey to a deep blue.
“Wow, is this… Pure water? And a deep blue at that.”
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
“I can only use water, so…”
“Beautiful.”
The lady put a card onto the crystal ball, which then sucked the magic out of it, turning the card a deep ocean blue.
“So A-Q-U-A, right?”
“Okay, it’s should be-”
“Wait a second!”
The guild master appeared from the stairs with a pen still in his hand.
“Just in time… Make them both rank B!”
“Yes sir.”
She then proceeded to stamp the letter B in red onto the card, while the guild master went back upstairs.
“You seem to really respect him.”
“I do. He tries his hardest to keep everyone in good spirits, even if it's too much sometimes, you have to like that about him…There we go.”
“Thank you.”
“You're most welcome. And you sir?”
When Ray put his hand onto the crystal ball, slowly but surely each corner lit up with each respective element's colour.
“All 6? Not bad quality either.”
She tapped the card again, this time turning it a shade of light grey. She repeated the same steps for each card.
“Ok, everything should be sorted now. Welcome to the guild!”
At the only nearby weapons shop, it looked a little run down from the outside. As they went in they could see an old man working with hot metal and a young woman repairing the hilt of a sword.
“I guess they just don’t have time to clean the place.”
The young woman stopped what she was doing and ran to the counter.
“What are you in for, adventurers? Repairs? New equipment?”
“We’re here on a quest, the guild master sent us to pick up something…”
“Did he tell you what?”
“No…”
“Typical of that guy, alright well I know what he means anyways.”
She went to the back and grabbed a sword still in its sheath.
“For Ray.”
He picked up the sword.
“Thanks for your help.”
“No problem, but if you really wanted to show your appreciation you could buy something! Haha…”
They made their way back up to the guild masters office. They opened the door.
“That was quick!”
“Well here’s your sword.”
“It’s not my sword…”
“Huh?”
“I saw your sword broke in the battle yesterday. Thought that the shining new class B adventurer needed a working weapon, so I got another one for you. Free of charge.”
“Wow, thanks. I’ll have to try it out.”
“It's good quality stuff, you’ll see. But I still owe you something… Who did you want to find?”
“Her name is Roxy, she’s my sister. She’s really smart, the same height as me… Green hair, green eyes… She should be in this city.”
“Hmm, do you know what she’s doing at the moment?”
“She was always fascinated by technology… Maybe she’s working in a magic workshop?”
He brought out a small map of the city and started scanning it. He encircled two spots on the map with a pen.
“I’d say one of these two are major possibilities. I know most people in this city, but to thoroughly check it would take a while.”
“So she is at one of these?”
“It’s worth a try right now, I know you don’t have any spare time.”
“Ok, Ray, let's split up and search each one.”
“Where are we meeting after?”
“We’ll just go to the other location if she’s not there. If we don’t see eachother again, we’ll meet back at the room.”
“Alright, sounds good.”
They departed from each other. Best case they would meet again soon, with Roxy in tow.
