Aqua yawned.
“We should get a room somewhere.”
“Yeah, you must be tired after using all that magic earlier.”
“What about you? After killing that many skeletons you must be exhausted.”
“It’s been a long time since I’ve done anything like that.”
“Oh, you mentioned your experience while we were planning. You mean you’ve done that before?”
“Eh, not to this scale.”
“Hmm… I see…”
She seemed curious.
“Look, there’s an inn right here.”
“Come on then!”
They walked in the front door.
“Hello! And welcome to our inn.”
An old man was manning the reception.
“Hi, do you have any open rooms?”
“Sorry miss, after the lich king's invasion earlier, it seems all of our rooms have been taken by other travelling adventurers such as yourselves.”
“Oh, that’s okay, thanks anyway.”
They both walked out and kept walking along the road.
“Did you hear he called us adventurers?”
Aqua seemed giddy about it.
“I don’t blame him, we did just fight the lich king after all.”
“True. Well, let’s try another inn.”
After trying another few inns, only to be met by a disapproving response each time, they sat on a bench outside. It was now dusk. They were only able to see thanks to the street lights.
“What now? It seems like they are all full.”
“We just have to keep trying, unless you want to sleep on the street.”
“I'm good just waiting.”
“...What’s Roxy like anyway?”
“Well, when we split up, she said she would get rich and get a place for herself. She said we could come see her if we were lost on what to do. I guess that’s partly why I’m going to see her. She’s smart, kind, and cheerful. I know she will know what to do.”
“Wow, you trust her that much?”
“I think we all do. I know she can help us after all.”
“...I should have really asked this by now, but how many sisters do you have?”
“Well, there’s Roxy, Luna, Reina, Airi, Elza, and me.”
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
"There’s four more?!?”
“Sorry, I thought I would have told you already…”
“I’ve already committed this far, guess I’ll be in this for a while.”
“Let’s make it a good journey… Wait. There!”
The moment was ruined by the rush of not wanting to sleep on the street. A man and women walked out of an inn in the corner of their eyes.
“Quick! Before it’s taken.”
They both sprinted to the front door and breathing heavily they said-
“A room please!”
“Certainly. A double has just been freed, so while we clean it please wait a moment.”
They high fived each other in relief.
“Two meals? And how long will your stay be?”
“Yes, how long should we stay here, Ray?”
“Two days for now, we can always book another few days if we need.”
“Certainly sir, that will be 2 silver and 20 copper.”
Ray put the money on the table and they were each handed a key.
“Please sit down and eat something, by the time you're finished the room should be ready.”
They sat down at a table.
“What’s today's meal?”
A waitress that looked like the man at the front desk’s daughter responded.
“It’s pork soup with sides today. Should I get some for you both?”
They now headed upstairs after that giant meal.
“Ah, I’m stuffed.”
“That was surprisingly good for an inn.”
“Yeah, they could have been just a restaurant and I would have been satisfied.”
As they got near a door Ray said-
“So which room do you have? The one next door?”
“208. This one.”
“There must be two beds inside.”
As they opened the door they realised what had happened at the same time. Their awkward faces showed it.
“Those two were-”
“-a couple.”
“That’s what he meant by double.”
In the room there was only one double bed in the center of the room. They turned to each other.
“Well, I can try to find another inn?.”
“No-no, I can’t do that to you. This is definitely the only free room, we checked almost all of them.”
Aqua looked flustered as she spoke again.
“It’s to save money!”
“Huh?”
“This is cheaper than two seperate beds after all.”
Her red face was in contrast to her blue hair. She patted down the bed.
“Come on, it’s not like we haven't… slept next to each other before.”
“Not the same bed though.”
They got into bed… and tried to sleep. In the morning Ray woke up first. He felt something to his right, only to see Aqua latched onto his right arm. She started to move. As she looked up she saw what she had done. Anyone could tell she was about to break.
“Ray I… I!-”
She sat up but realised he was already asleep.
"Whew."
Even though he was turned away, his eyes were still open. He faked waking up after.
"Morning."
"Ah… Did you… uhm…"
"Did I what? I was just asleep."
"Oh, nothing!"
"So, you wanna get back to it?"
"To what?"
"Finding your sister?"
"Yes! Let's go to the guild then, Sal said he could help!"
