Chapter 12. What's left.

Chapter 12. What's left.

The first thing I did was dismember and decapitate myself a few times. I spread the various body parts around everywhere. Some of me I put in refrigerators, freezers and others just lying about on the floor. All decently hidden, of course.

If I were to have all of me obliterated again, I'd at least have a chance to come back again.

Second order of business, well... I don’t really know. I need to figure out what happened.

I went to the Euclid wing. This whole facility felt like a ghost town, there was nobody around... Not even anomalies.

None I could see at least...

The Euclid wing looked, well, burnt. I’m guessing someone detonated an incendiary bomb here in a last-ditch effort to stop what I'm guessing to be some SCP-610. I saw a few charred corpses on the ground, some of them were covered in burnt 610 flesh. Well, that explains that.

I made my way over to the break room. The emergency access card was probably already stolen by looters, but who knows. Not many knew of the safe, after all.

In front of the door there was a clod of 610 flesh, completely blocking my path into the room. Hmm. That definitely complicates matters. The Keter wing arsenal should have some incendiary equipment... if that’s also not looted.

I began making my way over to the Keter wing. I tried to keep an eye on the various corpses to see if they had any guns on them, but all of them were already frisked clean. There wasn’t even a single bullet on any of them.

When I was in the middle of looting a dead security guard, I heard a scream coming from somewhere down another hallway. That way led to the aquarium and cafeteria. I flipped the guard over on his back and to my surprise, he had a gun on him! It was loaded too, I ejected the magazine and found 3 bullets in it.

That’ll do nicely. I cocked the pistol, chambering a round before taking the holster off the guard as well, equipping it myself. I decided to ignore the scream for now, as whoever yelled is probably already dead.

I continued making my way over to the Keter wing. The Keter wing looked almost untouched, there were no bodies or 610 anywhere. The only thing that was out of place was the containment chamber of 682, which was entirely blown open. So, he’s on the loose too. I hope we’re still on decent terms.

I looked at the arsenal door panel, and of course it had a keycard lock on it. I cursed as I had no idea where I might find a keycard. I turned around and looked to the main lounge again. Maybe I can find something in one of the office rooms?

I had gone around basically everywhere I could think of except for the aquarium and cafeteria. I went through the higher-ups' offices. They were all empty.

I don’t know where I'd even begin to look...

Oh! I know. Maybe 079 can help me? We didn’t exactly end off on the best note last time but considering he’s not inhabiting every screen in this facility I’ll assume someone has plugged him out. Maybe I'll gain his trust by letting him into the main systems again...?

I went back to the Euclid wing yet again, looking at the elevator systems. 079’s containment is still on the second floor, so I'll take the elevator there.

I opened the elevator which thankfully did not have a keycard lock, pressing floor 2 on the button panel.

“Floor 2, SCP-079 containment.”

I stepped out of the elevator and into the containment cell of 079. He was still in his cage, but as I'd suspected someone plugged him out.

I went over to the cage. It’s locked with a keycard lock, but that wouldn’t stop me. I went back to the entrance of the cell, walking into the little control booth attached to the containment cell.

There was a lever there, held upright by a severed hand. I looked to the floor and found the source, a D-class probably trying to open the cage without the right clearance.

I looked up at the roof and saw the perpetrator. A laser turret had been mounted on the ceiling, pointing straight down positioned around about elbow-height.

I placed my hand upon a fingerprint reader beside the lever, making sure not to touch the severed limb.

“Identification accepted. Have a nice day, Researcher.”

I removed my hand from the fingerprint scanner and pulled the lever downward. A buzz sounded and the cage opened.

I stepped out of the booth, walking to the cage. The screen of 079 was still completely blank. I bent down to pick up the cable to the anomaly when I suddenly felt a terrifying presence coming from behind me.

I turned around and pulled out my gun, just in time to spot a shadowy figure in the SCP-079 control booth. They pulled the lever and dashed for the elevator, not giving me a second to look at their face. I shot my gun, hitting their leg just before the elevator doors closed.

I ran as quickly as I could, but it wasn’t fast enough and the cage door closed in my face, locking with a click.

Well, fuck me then. I guess I better pray and hope I can befriend 079 or I'm never getting out of here...
