I yawned as I made lunch. Today was Wednesday, so it was a hamburger helper day. the red meat sizzled and a few specs of grease popped as I dropped the whole package into my hot pan full of onions and assorted veggies.
I absently used my giant spoon to savage the meat and mix the stuff together as the most-watched the news. A redhead in a yellow jumpsuit was screaming into the mic as the cameraman shifted from her to half a dozen GMs shooting at four Titans.
Turns out that a mobile suit wasn’t better than the Titans, but a two could take one down. Huh. I didn’t really know how to feel considering that the world has been going down the toilet for the last few weeks.
Yesterday was the first sightings of Titans, the mega-human monsters that ate other people had shown up in Australia. Along with giant mechas, like the FranXX, and various military goods.
The Titan threat was being managed on the whole. No one knew how it all occurred, just that it was a thing. The UN has stated that it has to do with the miasma of darkness that swelled up after sunset.
April O’Neal continued to commentate as the GMs made short work of the flesh only monsters. The camera returned to her smiling face as she thanked the Principality of Zeon and their armed forces of ZAFT.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Yeah. I watched anime. I knew that there were red flags all over the damned place. Hence why I was going to stay right where I was.
Sure. I was broke, jobless, and practically uneducated. I wasn’t going to leave the safety of the city though.
I scanned enough mega-threads to know that we were all in deep shit. Whatever was causing this was probably related to a world-ending event.
“This just in!” April firmly said as her eyes stared into the camera. “A gigantic meteor has been spotted heading towards the Earth!”
The news was horrific. The crap image showed a fuzzy patch of darkness, but there were helpful red highlights as they showed that the super rock was like roughly 8k in diameter.
Awesome. I wondered who was going to deal with it first. Justice League? Avengers? Gun Buster? Sailor Moon?
I returned to my pan and smiled as the scent of cooked beef and pork wafted up and through my senses. This was going to be good!
I added the seasoning, the pasta, the milk, and water. I stirred the set together and set it to medium-low and simmer for a while.
The doorbell rang as I covered up my pot.
I stared at the front door. I wasn’t expecting anyone. I turned off the heat as I made my way to the front door.
I swear to the gods if this is migi or something, I will kill them!
I opened the door and stared. She stared back and smiled as she pushed up her sunglasses.
Red beret and jacket, black shirt, short pencil skirt. The small cross glinted in the noon light while her brown eyes bore into mine and her purple hair fluttered in the wind.
Huh. You think I was being racist, but these girls and boys coming to life didn’t resemble their 2d versions. Oh, they looked the same, but not identical. Odd.
“Hello, I am Misato Katsuragi. Come with me if you want to live!”
I blinked at her.
“Haaah?”
