Chapter 7: Tsunami on the Horizon

Chapter 7: Tsunami on the Horizon

Panic widened in ripples as Mira and her team were trying to save as many people as possible. Relentless tremors-the fulminating threat of tsunami-turned every single moment into a great, engulfing, contrary-to-expectation run.

Lila, try to reach the coastal emergency services!" Mira yelled over the bedlam, trying not to lose her head in the middle of it all. "They need to know!"

"I'm trying!" Lila shouted back as her fingers moved furiously over her device, trying to hack into the emergency systems.

Victor and Amir helped coordinate the evacuation, guiding groups of people toward higher grounds. "This way! Keep moving!" Victor implored, his voice firm, though his face was etched with fear.

Mira watched as families ran, clutched their belongings, and desperately looked for safety. She just could not get that feeling of urgency; they had to warn the whole coastline before it got too late.

Lila, have you gotten through?" Mira asked, her heart racing as she saw the wave in the distance, towering higher with every passing second.

"Almost! Just a few more seconds!" Lila replied, her eyes darting across the screen.

The shaking ground, once more, exploded into a mass hysteria of screams and stumbles. Mira stared in horror as the tsunami surge came closer and closer, its monstrous wave glowing with an ominous light under the dull illumination.

"We need to go!" Amir shouted, pointing toward the rising water. "Now!

With the team's help, the last of the evacuees were being ushered toward a nearby hill, a makeshift refuge from the wave. Turning to Lila, Mira felt her heart quicken. "Did you get the warning out?"

"Was just sent! They should be airing it now!" Lila replied, her eyes on the screen. Suddenly, power flickered and all their devices went dead. "No! Not now!

"We gotta know the warning got through!" Victor exclaimed, his hand tightening on Mira's shoulder. "Now we have to save who we can."

As they crested the top of the hill, Mira turned back toward the city. The tsunami reached the shore-a wall of water smashing out everything in its path-buildings buckled, and screams from afar heard as mayhem ensued.

It was amidst this chaos that finally, a ray of hope crept in when rescue services started to arrive because of Lila's broadcast earlier. Helicopters whirring over their heads, the rescue teams ran down towards the shore, ready to help whoever might have been caught in the deluge.

"We can't just watch!" Amir yelled out over the din. "We have to help!

Mira nodded as her heart sprinted with the urge to do something different. They coordinated with the rescue teams, giving information on survivors trapped in the wreckage.

It was only at night that the real devastations of the tsunami showed: the entire city was submerged in water. Mira felt overwhelmed with her loss, yet at the same time, they knew they had saved lives. They had worked with rescue operatives to pull surviving people from the rubble and console those who suffered.

But amidst all these works, the feeling of dread crept into Mira. "What if this isn't the end? What if they have more in store?" she whispered.

Well, right then, Lila's device came back online and beeped a notification. "Guys, you gotta see this!"

The screen was displaying another message from the Collective, this detailing a much more catastrophic plan entitled "Project Hydra," which was aimed at

using advanced weather manipulation technology in a series of extreme weather events around the world.
