Chapter 2
Las Vegas
-Main POV: Misha-
Misha cracks open her eyes as a door slams shut. She quickly takes stock of her surroundings. She was sitting on a couch in a dimly lit room. There is a bed made up with dark red silk sheets in the corner of the room. A man is bent over in front of her, shaking his deep red thong clad ass at her.
"WHAT THE FUCK?!" She yells as she tries to push him away from her, only to realize her hands are handcuffed behind her to a bar on the couch. Her heart begins to race as her mind tries to sort through how the hell she got here.
The man turns around slowly. "I was told to dance for- WHAT THE FUCK, WHERE DID YOU GO?!"
"Where the fuck could I go with these handcuffs on? Let me go!"
The man’s tan skin instantly pales and he jumps back. He quickly runs to the door.
"Wait! Stop! Uncuff me first!" Misha struggles against the cuffs as he runs out of the room, screaming, "Ghost! This bitch is a ghost!"
"A ghost?" She looked around the room but didn't see or hear any sign of a ghost. She pulls at the handcuffs again, angling her body to try to see if they are the type to have a release hook. They aren't. They require a key. Or a lock pick that, of course, she didn't have. Well, not on her anyway.
A few moments go by with Misha continuing to try to escape her bonds. The man returns, still pale as a ghost himself, with a laughing male security guard. "..is a ghost! I swear!"
Misha stills as the muscled security guard glances around the room. "All I see is an empty room. You're losing your shit, Peter,"
"There are no fucking ghosts here. Just let me go!" Misha groans out, completely done with their prank.
The security guard tenses up even as he grabs Peter's wrist when the mostly naked man tries to run out the door again.
"Where did you hide the recorder? I'm not fucking falling for this shit again!" The buff security guard yells.
"I-I-I d-d-idn't," Peter stammers out. "I sw-sw-swear! This isn't a prank!"
"I'm so fucking done with y'alls prank! Release me from these handcuffs, you idiots! I'm not a goddess damned ghost!" Misha screams.
The security guard lets go of Peter as he steps closer. Peter, of course, runs out of the room like the smart coward he is.
"If you're not a ghost recording then answer this: what's two plus two?" The security guard asked with a smirk, clearly proud of himself for finding something they wouldn't have thought to put on a ghost recording.
"Two plus two equals fish. You have got to be the most retarded calvary of all time," Misha states, feeling a headache coming on.
"Calm down and stop being so rude. Or I'll walk away and you can try to convince someone else that you, an invisible woman, are not a ghost. Maybe I'll send Peter back in.," He smiles broadly at the idea, mentally patting himself on the back.
Misha takes a deep breath and blows it out slowly. "Fine. I'm sorry, okay? I'm just really upset and freaked out and I don't even know how I got here! The last thing I remember is getting my ass handed to me by a guy that looked like Vin Diesel," A tear runs down her cheek and she wipes it away on her shoulder, glad for the first time that he couldn't see her.
The security guard takes a few steps closer, looking around the room. He had no idea where she was. "Just remain calm and we'll figure this out together,"
Misha takes a few deep breaths to calm herself down. She slowly becomes visible as she calms down.
The man stares at her, wide eyed. "Oh wow. You're real. I'm not going insane," He breathes a sigh of relief.
"You can see me?" Misha asks, relief settling over her.
"Yes. You're so beautiful," he breathes out.
"Thanks. I'm also trapped," She pulls on the cuffs for emphasis, feeling her blood begin to boil again.
"Your eyes!" He jumps back and takes a few steps back. His own eyes are wide.
"Wait! Please let me go!" Misha cries.
"Yes, ma'am. It's just your eyes… never mind," he mumbles as he comes closer again.
"Thanks, I've been told my eyes are breathtaking. Would you please wait until after I'm free to wax poetic about me?" Misha says sarcastically.
"Sorry miss. Let's get you uncuffed," He says, clearly insulted. He walks the rest of the way up to her and looks at the handcuffs. "Any idea where the key is?"
"If I knew where it was, I would already be out of here," Misha states impatiently.
"Okay. I'll go ask Peter then," The security guard says and walks out the door. He returns a few minutes later with the key and unlocks the handcuffs.
"Thank you," Misha says, rubbing her wrists and standing up.
"You're welcome. Peter said that a beautiful woman with green eyes and long golden blonde curls had brought you here. He said she was a friend of yours playing a birthday prank on you," The security guard said, raising his eyebrow at her friend's idea of a prank.
"Evee!" Misha seethed, getting so angry that she became invisible again. The security guard tensed up and started backing away to the door as his brown eyes darted around the room.
"Thanks again. I need to go kick my friend's ass now," Misha says as she heads out the door herself, gently bumping the man's shoulder as she passes him to let him know where her invisible self was.
Misha walks down a long dimly lit hall and into the strip club's main room. Colored lights flashed overhead and dance music filled the room. Everywhere people laughed and talked and danced, some fully clothed while others were almost nude.
Misha kept walking, narrowly dodging the dancers, until she found the table in the far back corner. Phoenix and Trinity sat against the far wall, facing Misha. Kat sat against the side wall and Evee sat with her back to Misha.
"Evee, I'm going to fucking kill you!" Misha shrieked as she ran the rest of the way to the table. Evee turned to her and raised her hands as Kat laughed and Trinity raised her eyebrows. Phoenix just sat back, looking bored.
"Hey Mish! Happy birth-" Misha's fist connected with Evee's jaw and cut off her sentence. Misha continued slamming her fists into Evee, repeatedly. Evee smiled broadly, blood leaking down her face, her eyes glittering with mischief.
"This is so much fun! Are you having fun, Mish?" Evee squealed between hits. Her arms still raised high, delivering no blows of her own.
"I don't even have a word foul enough to call you! I cannot believe you!" Misha screeches as she continues her assault.
"You're a big girl now, honey. That means you have some tough lessons to learn. We'll start with this little nugget: You get one more hit, then I'm fighting back," Evee said evenly. Misha continues landing blows, not heeding her warning.
"Vee, don't-" Kat began as Evee's eyes turned from emerald green to glacier blue, her imagination magic already weaving into fruition. A vibrant oak tree rips up through the floor behind Misha, quickly growing until it hits the ceiling. A patch of bark cracks off and falls to the floor with a thud, revealing an angry face beneath like something out of Scooby Doo.
The tree roars and swings a branch down, connecting with Misha and throwing her across the room. Misha slides across their table and slams into the wall between Trinity and Phoenix. Drywall rains down onto them from the hole her body made.
"Hey bitch! Watch yourself!" Trinity yells, reflexively motioning her hand away from her body as Phoenix takes a sip from her drink with an amused look on her face. A wind grabs hold of Misha and tosses her into Evee, knocking them both to the floor. Without missing a beat Misha slams her fist into Evee.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Can't fight your battles hand to hand, Vee? Are you too scared?" Misha taunts.
Evee giggles, hands covering her mouth in a way that makes her look far too innocent. "I'm not scared, but you, my dear, are about to be!"
The tree cackles as its branch reaches down and grabs Misha's ankle. It tosses her from one limb to another then another, each higher than the last. Misha shrieks, her acrophobia kicking in immediately.
"Excuse me, ladies!" A feminine voice shouts, somehow slurring words in a way that only she could make sound attractive. They look to see a petite woman with perfectly straight, short, jet black hair and eyes like a colorful nebula. The heavily intoxicated woman swayed on her feet. "You are destroying my club. No one destroys this bitch but me!" Ms. Drunk says as she snaps her fingers.
The girls see a bright light flash then they find themselves free falling from the sky. Kat, Trinity, and Phoenix land on a glacier. The angry tree lands beside them. Misha and Evee, however, land in the freezing cold water but soon surface, gasping for air. The angry tree wraps its branches around itself as it shivers silently while patiently awaiting Evee's orders.
"Goddess damn it! It's so fucking cold!" Phoenix screams. She transforms into a fiery phoenix and immediately flies up so she doesn't melt the ice that Kat and Trinity still occupy.
"You think you're cold? Come take a dip, sweetheart!" Evee yells as Phoenix. Phoenix responds by throwing a fireball at her, narrowly missing her. Evee sighs as the flame hisses and extinguishes in the water. Phoenix throws another, this one hitting her in the shoulder.
"Ow!" Evee cries out as she dips under the water. She comes up wearing a deeply hurt expression on her face. It was hard to tell if she made the face about the water temperature or because Phoenix hit her.
Kat flicks her wrist, creating a wave that carries Misha up onto the glacier. She sits and wraps her arms around herself, glaring at Evee silently. Evee smiles back at her as a narwhal appears beside Evee and she climbs on it.
"Where the fuck are we?" Misha asks.
"My guess would be Antarctica," Trinity answers.
"I can't believe that bitch kicked us out of the club!" Evee yells.
"You two assbutts should have taken it outside!" Kat yells at Evee
"She started it," Evee mutters.
"I started it? No, you started it with your nasty prank, you skank!" Misha yells, her eyes flickering violet as her anger rises.
"Oh look, we have a fucking poet!" Kat says sarcastically, getting defensive of Evee despite everything that may have been Evee's fault.
"It was funny. Get over it!" Evee yells back at Misha.
"Fuck you! I'm not going to just get over it. You think everything is so fucking funny, but you went too far this time! They thought I was a fucking ghost!" Misha screeches.
"Wait. What?" Evee asks, completely confused.
"Like you didn't know how freaked out they'd be by an invisible woman. Go fuck yourself, Evee!" Misha yells and turns her back to Evee, signaling that she was done talking to her.
"Oops," Kat mutters under her breath as Evee says, "Invisible? I didn't make you invisible,"
Trinity throws a smirk at Kat. Kat reaches into her pocket portal and grabs out a blunt. She then signals to Phoenix for a light, flicking her thumb as if she had an invisible lighter. Phoenix shoots a thin stream of fire for her to light off of, only barely melting a puddle into the ice beside Kat.
Misha turns back towards Evee, her eyes now a solid violet from her rage. "Do not lie to me, Evee! Beyond all else, that is the worst thing you could ever do!"
"Misha, your eyes!" Evee gasps.
"Don't try to change the subject! I am beyond pissed at you!" Misha glares.
"No, seriously, dude! They are violet!" Evee says as her own eyes grow wide. Trinity and Kat step beside Evee to see.
"Oh, wow!" Kat says as Trinity raises her eyebrow at Phoenix.
-I didn't do it.- Phoenix projects into their minds.
"Guys, you're freaking me out!" Misha says as she runs her fingers through her hair nervously.
-I think we should figure this out somewhere that's warmer.- Phoenix mentally shouts.
"I vote we go back and kick that bitch's ass!" Evee says excitedly, slamming one fist into her other hand.
"Can't. I've already tried to open a portal back to the club. It's warded. A strong one that's going to take a while to break, even for me and Phoenix," Trinity states.
"Well I want to go somewhere that's warm and dry. Now," Evee says and turns to Kat expectantly.
"Agreed. Let's get the fuck out of here!" Kat says as she raises her hands.
Trinity grabs Kat's hands before she can start to open a portal. "I've got it! I still don't trust yours!" she says to Kat.
"Are you fucking serious? It's been like two thousand Goddess damned years! Get over it already!" Kat yells at Trinity.
"No! I'll never get over it!" Trinity says as she caresses her hair.
"Phoenix grew it back every time, you whiney hoe!" Kat rolls her eyes, then continues, "Whatever, just open it already. It's too damn cold here to argue, even for me,"
Trinity mutters about the principle of the matter, still caressing her hair, then turns to Phoenix with another means of transportation on her mind. She speaks telepathically only to Phoenix and Phoenix flies back down. She instantly transforms back into her human form.
"Everyone hold hands. Now! It's colder than this witch's tit here!" Phoenix states hurriedly.
They all grab hands, except Evee who grabs Kat's hand and puts her other hand on her angry tree, leaving Misha with one hand grasping Phoenix's and her other outstretched toward Evee.
"Seriously? You're not keeping the damn tree!" Kat rolls her eyes.
"But. Please?" Evee whines while making the biggest puppy dog eyes.
"What do creepy trees even eat?" Kat asks, exasperated.
"I don't know. Probably people breathe like regular trees," Evee twirls a strand of her hair, doing her dumb blonde impression.
"It probably eats like kittens or something! You can't keep it, Vee!" Kat pales.
"But it's my baby! I can't just leave it here in the cold! It hasn't hurt anyone! Well, except Misha but that really doesn't count because Bark was just defending me!" Evee babbles, trying to convince them even as she shapes Bark's character with her power of imagination.
"Phoenix!" Kat says, pinching the bridge of her nose. "She's named it. Do something!"
"Okay, Vee. Why don't you erase it and we can discuss this later? You can always make it again," Phoenix says as calmly as she can muster in the cold weather.
"But I don't want to kill Bark, a new tree wouldn't be the same! That would be like killing Bear then giving you a new black cat!" Evee cries, tears welling in her eyes.
Phoenix flares a hot white at the thought of something happening to her familiar but quickly gets control of herself. She steps out of the puddle she just melted into the ice.
"But it eats kittens, Evee! I'm not helping feed it kittens!" Kat yells, sticking to her absurd assumption.
"It doesn't eat kittens!" Evee rolls her eyes. "Misha, just grab Bark's branch,"
"No! It's creepy and it wants to kill me!" Misha yells.
"Come on, Mish! Bark was just protecting me!" Evee insists.
"Fine, whatever, hope you know what I'm doing," Misha says as she extends her hand. Bark hisses at her like a cat and Misha jumps back. "What the fuck Evee? Why did your freak tree just hiss at me?"
Evee glares at Kat. "This is your fault! All your talk of kittens made this happen! My tree had better not eat kittens or I'm going to make something that eats dragons!"
"You wouldn't dare! You had better not feed my dragons to anything! Ever!" Kat said seriously, then continued when Evee giggled, "I'm serious, Evee. That's not funny,"
Evee rolls her eyes then closes them. She imagines that Bark is willing to let Misha touch it. She opens her eyes. "Try again, Mish,"
Misha tries again and receives another hiss. Misha jumps back and puts Phoenix between her and the angry tree.
"You're losing control of your creation, Vee," Kat states.
"Naw, Bark just REALLY does not like Misha. You give it a try Kat," Evee says.
"Fine, but if it hisses at me, I'm killing it," Kat says as she walks over to Bark, not giving Evee a chance to reply. She places her hand on Bark and Bark purrs. Evee smiles, victorious.
"Now that we have that settled, let's go!" Phoenix demands. Everyone grabs hands again.
The girls blink and find themselves in a warmer but exceptionally rank smelling alley. Misha, Kat, and Evee simultaneously crinkle their noses at the foul smell of rotten food and urine.
"Could have given us a warning!" Evee gags. Misha pinches her nose and tries to shoo away the smell with her other hand.
"It's easier to break the ward the closer you are to it. This was the closest place that I could think of. Don't ask why I've been here before or I'll have to kill you," Trinity states.
"You could have at least told us to hold our breath. Something!" Kat says.
Trinity rolls her eyes as she pulls fresh air around them creating a bubble like a comforting blanket. Misha and Evee shiver from the new air, both still soaking wet.
"Y'all are some whiny little pains in my ass. Here, let me dry y'all," Trinity puckers her lips andblows air at them. A strong wind whips at them until they are dry.
"I give the best blow jobs!" Trinity exclaims with a grin.
"Hell yeah you do, baby!" Phoenix says with a wink, clearly debating turning herself into a guy.
"Ew!" Kat, Evee, and Misha exclaimed at the same time. Misha continues, "It's like imagining our parents having sex! I need brain bleach!"
"I can help you with that!" Evee says as she rubs her hands together gleefully.
"No! Last time you did that I lost three years and I still haven't found all of my gold!" Kat says with a wince.
"Come on! That was over a century ago! I've gotten so much better at it since then!" Evee whines.
Wow, I still can't believe how casually they say things like centuries ago. I wonder if I'll live to be as old as them. If I do, I hope I find my mate like Phoenix and Trinity. Misha thinks but doesn't say aloud.
"Evee, no. Now shut up about it. I mean, you haven't even noticed how messy your hair is," Kat says, distracting Evee from her bad idea.
Evee promptly reaches up to find that her hair is in one tangled mess across her shoulders. Kat snickers in amusement as Evee begins to use magic to untangle her golden blond locks from one another. After a minute of watching, Kat laughs again and tosses in a bit of her own magic to speed up the process. It was untangled completely in a few seconds.
"Your blow job was sloppy, Trin. Gotta work on better angles," Kat says with a mischievous grin in Trinity's direction.
"Only because I decided to do it that way, young one. I have to keep you on your toes somehow," Trinity replies with a smirk, her title as Queen of Air undisputed.
Misha and Evee both step back, not wanting to be in the middle of the two witches if they fight. Everyone knows they both have tempers.
"Awww thanks, Trin! I feel so old sometimes but to hear that from you makes the ice chip right off my cold heart!" Kat responds in a sugary voice.
Phoenix makes small sparks of fire at Kat's comment that implies her mate is old. Trinity blows it in Kats direction as a challenge as some of it singes her hair.
Kat grins widely, extinguishing her hair with a blink of her eyes, water traveling straight down her hair to the tips. "You sure you want to do this, Trin? I don't want to mess up that pretty face. Goddess knows Phoenix will kill me."
"You bet your sweet ass I will," Phoenix says, glaring at Kat.
Trinity's head whips around to her mate so fast you can hear it like a whip. "Excuse me?! Sweet ass?!! Are you trying to get her actually fucked up right now? I was just playing but now I might actually kill her," Trinity says in all seriousness.
"C'mon babe, I didn't mean it like that!" Phoenix says as she throws her hands up in the air.
Misha releases a little bit of her love power, just enough to remind all three of them that they love each other and that Kat is their sister witch. All three visibly calm down but then turn to glare at Misha, knowing exactly what she did. Misha rolls her eyes at them.
"You're not killing each other on my birthday. I'm going to go do something fun now. Y'all have ruined enough of my day," with that said, Misha turns and walks towards the exit of the alley.
"But I thought we were going to go beat that bitch’s ass?" Evee whines.
"Y'all have fun with that," Misha calls over her shoulder as she continues walking.
Evee imagines her tree in her bedroom and it disappears. Then she quickly catches up to Misha. Kat throws her hands up in the air in exasperation for Evee not having done that earlier. Evee was a stubborn earth witch though, and often forgetful on top of that. Kat usually found that amusing, but sometimes it was just down right aggravating.
"Your birthday prank wasn't supposed to be like that. I don't know why you were invisible but I didn't do that. You were just supposed to get a lap dance and then released. Maybe it's a new power developing. Like your eyes turning violet," Evee says, clearly having completely forgotten about the charm Kat had placed on Misha's dress.
"We can talk about this later. I'm going to drink my first legal drink. Then my second and my third and so on until I can't remember shit," Misha replies, not slowing down for the others to catch up.
"I'm game. But if you can't out drink me, I'll never let you live it down!" Evee says with a wide grin.
Kat, Phoenix, and Trinity catch up. "We're in too. And we'll behave. Mostly," Kat says.
"Fine. But just know that y'all will feel my wrath tomorrow for your shenanigans," Misha says.
"I can't wait!" Evee says sincerely, with a huge smile.
"Weirdo," Misha mutters.
The girls go club hopping, drinking enough to give a mortal alcohol poisoning, and the night goes on without incident. Misha refuses any lap dances, just as her sister witches knew she would.
"Come on, the dragons just arrived to take us home," Kat says as the last bar closes. They walk around to the back of the building where the dragons are waiting and climb on. The dragons immediately take flight. Evee holds on to Misha, keeping her from drunkenly falling off.
As they soar along, Kat has a secretive smirk on her face. She and her dragons have one more surprise up their sleeves to make Misha's birthday even better. She nods to Syghe and Nayne, who bring the formation together for the group. They rearrange some of the younger ones who had joined for this specific moment- to make Misha's birthday the best they could.
Their loose flight pattern goes from a V formation with Taryan in the front, holding Evee and Misha, to him in the center with the rest of the dragons circling and diving around them. As Kyrie gets into place on Misha's left, Kat calls to her, "Misha! I know the beginning of your birthday sucked but HAPPY 21st!"
On hearing the signal, the younglings quickly dropped and took the lead while starting the show. They dove through the clouds to push and change the forms. The dragons holding passengers grouped tightly together, then shoot straight up as high as they can. Once up almost to the atmosphere, they all slowly break off and start their dives to give the younglings enough time.
The group executes a spectacular barrel roll then triple flip before righting themselves and diving at each other. At Lanette's signal, who is playing sentinel for the artists’ work, Kat signals Nayne and Kyrie who then light the sky up with small fireballs while Kat casts a spell to make them change colors. As they did this, the younglings' work could be properly appreciated. The clouds spelled out in beautiful sky calligraphy 'Happy 21st Birthday Misha! We love you!'
Misha smiles as she drifts off to sleep, contently nestled between Evee and Taryan.
