Desire: Pitch Night Forest, Chapter 4

“The first quest is to create a permanent residence of 2000 people and the second quest is to become king of two thousand people.”

Quest added: Permanent Home: Create a settlement with over 2000 people

Quest added: Become King: Rule over 2000 people

“Now that your quests have been added I would like you the humans to remember me as a generous god!” She bellowed into the crowd. “Unlike other gods” She grumbled.

“So, I will give you a reward of two questions for me, but these questions can also be requests I just dont need to grant them is all. Take your time and think about it this could be very important to your development”

Without hesitation Tom who is standing beside Henry raises his voice and shouts, “Can you give us maps for our interfaces?”

“I will agree to your request but there are a few stipulations. The first is that it will be confined to human territory.”

After creation spoke those words many people noticed the map added to their interface but it was grayed out with the exception of the location they were in. The map was drawn in the style of the explorers of the 1800’s with many small details outlined for the readers. There were also many small gasps at the mention of human territory implying others existed.

“As you can see only the area you are in is presented to you therefore you must discover the rest like true explorers.”

Henry had noticed his map had been completely empty but also very large, to the point he was able to move it around and zoom in and out of it. But, while he was questioning, wondering if others were also just as large.

Creation looked into the crowd and said in a very soft voice,“My little conqueror, you have a special power, you must claim everything you want to see.”

Another quest pops up for Henry

Quest Added: Map conqueror stage one: Explore and conquer the human territory

Henry quickly realized that she said all of this for just him to hear it, and nobody else had even noticed creation looking at Henry.

This was all until she spoke up again in a loud but not yelling tone, “My little conqueror I just want you to know you're not special here!”

This caused Henry to visibly gulp and while the crowd broke out into more discussion a shorter man spoke up taking the final question they were given, “I understand that this whole system is based on our desire and I'm guessing it gets stronger with our desire.”

Creation gave a small nod acknowledging the man's statement, “But how in hell are we supposed to beat creatures like those red demons without killing off most of our population for just one? For crying out loud I can see at least 5 of them in the distance.”

“I accept your second question, but my answer has a few parts. First of all pure training such as running and muscle training will show more effects, this is in hopes to push your human genome. Secondly, killing, accomplishing feats and pushing your level will make you stronger and while the three don't necessarily go hand in hand necessarily they will make you stronger respectively. And, lastly, what you had already mentioned.”

With her speech completed, Creation flew away wasting no time on the people below her.

After a few moments of silence, one of the men pondering creation's words spoke up, “When she says killing can make us stronger, I wonder if she's referring to scavenging the bodies of the enemies we kill?”

Stolen story; please report.

Everyone thought about what the man had said but suddenly realized the implications of what it meant.

They all began to run towards the corpse of the Long Armed Red Demon to scavenge it but were grossly disappointed to notice it had disappeared.

As they were walking away from the location one of them pointed out the sheer number of creatures they could see in the plains.

Henry spoke up to the crowd during the silence while they all took in the scenery, most of them couldn't take it in when they were first placed here, “I suggest we head into the forest to our left.”

Everyone turned their attention to the dark dreary forest that encompassed the entire left side of their field of view. The forest had enormous trees with trunks multiple grown men could wrap around, but its foliage also didn't lose to many jungle trees completely covering the forest floor in darkness. The forest's trees were also equipped with many vines accompanied with its very uneven ground that made it almost seem like a jungle gym.

Many people were torn between the two as the plains had not offered much protection from field of view as they were extremely open for tens kilometers on end only stopped by mountains in the distance. They were at least able to see attacks as they came though in this plain, something that would prove to be much more difficult in the forest.

After a few minutes of discussion they would decide to head into the forest, as being anywhere in the same line of sight as those demons would make it difficult for many to sleep at all.

When they walk into the forest all of them notice their map update, the plains had not been added but this forest was.

Pitch Night Forest

This was the name everyone had seen above this location, everyone except Henry.

After finding a suitable spot to make camp everyone starts to make camp, while Henry notices some were exceptionally fast including Tom. It must be the desire to create Henry thought to himself remembering one of Toms powers being the power to create quickly.

At the end of the night as everyone sat by campfires Tom walked over to Henry and handed him a hatchet. Henry was a bit surprised, while they had talked a few times he didn't believe Tom owed him anything so he couldn't understand the sentiment.

Tom noticing Henry’s confused look just laughs

“I saw you still carrying your barely functioning kitchen knife, so I decided to replace it. Don't worry, one of my abilities is to make anything quickly.” With Henry finally wiping the confused look off of his face Tom gives him a small wink.

*One Week Later*

The camp had been built up a sizable amount with all of the creators in the camp. Making it seem like a real fort, they had also begun to make weapons and tools for everyone to further their battle prowess, but despite all of this they hadn't encountered one enemy yet.

Henry woke up to do his normal routine, he was tasked with standing in the front gate of their camp. During this time he also exercises as much as he could already, noticing some strength differences in his body.

Henry had one of the most boring jobs in the camp, but on this day he had heard some rustling in the nearby bushes.

A small human appeared from them.

This was the first new person they saw that wasn't from their group, making them quite cautious at his arrival.

The man requests to speak with their group, where he is then placed in the middle of a circle of people all surrounding him while he talks.

These people had been kept on the edge constantly waiting to be attacked but never getting attacked. Their blood boiling due to keeping themselves on the edge of battle to always be ready.

As the man stood in the middle of this deadly circle he calmly opened his arms and said, “I come from another group of humans who have survived the trial. We are looking to expand and hit the 2000 people limit to complete our first major quest.”

With a silence looming over them he bent down on his knees to show his sincerity and asked them, “Please merge groups with ours.”

The group after talking for a short while had come to a conclusion that what that man had proposed was a good idea.

With the agreement reached they exchanged some base info about camp sizes and their experiences. With the man telling them that they had been the 8th fastest settlement to achieve victory over a creature. He then explained there had been a silverback alpha ape. The man was clearly trying to boast not realizing their group had been 3rd.

With the pleasantries finished the group of close to a thousand began to follow the small man to his camp.
