Desire: Enemies of a God, Chapter 6

After the long journey for Henry, nature had not moved a single step. As the arrogance of a god flowed through his veins keeping him rooted in place.

As Henry took his final step, his vision went truly red even with his single eye open, but he heard a faint noise come from a shrill voice beside him, “I claim you.”

Unbeknownst to Henry, Nature had begun visibly wilting. This was accompanied by Henries veins doubling in girth due to Nature's power being absorbed by Henry.

With his energy slowly coming back Henries' vision slowly stabilized until he was able to see what was in front of him again. What Henry saw caused him to visibly smile, this was the first time he had seen his Desire powers work.

As everyone began to rejoice, their short victory came to a grueling end, when they heard the same calm voice but this time it returned with more viciousness to it. “Okay, enough playing around this clone has very limited power due to the circumstances here but it should be enough to deal with you still.”

Henry was somewhat surprised but expected Nature to come back. How could a god like being be killed from a single ax swing he thought. While in thought he suddenly felt vines from the ground attempt to pull him away, and remove his ax.

These vines were accompanied by Nature's calm demeanor as he believed this to be a fluke; the boy only absorbed 4% of this weak clone's power; what more could he do. But as his vines pulled he noticed the boy nor the ax had moved no matter how much power he put into it. He noticed Henry's veins pop even more until he heard 3 dreaded words.

“I claim you.”

Henry hadn't been sure what to do in this scenario; he could feel the vines gripping tighter and tighter; his only plan had been to mimic the voice he heard earlier. After repeating those same words, his mind had gone blank, in an almost comatose state where he could see still but felt like he had no control over his body.

Without his knowledge as to why he felt power continuously pour into his body, giving him more and more strength to hold onto the ax in Natures body.

While Henry was oblivious Nature kept hearing the three words that made him furious yet powerless.

“I claim you.”

“I claim you.”

“I claim …”

All of this came as an extreme surprise to Nature, having dealt with the previous group and most of this group he had a pretty accurate gauge for their power. Along with them being new to Second Plane he figured there was no way his desire had evolved to overpower a god, even if it was just a weak clone.

Henry was able to tell why but he could see Natures face in anguish, alongside the power that was streaming into his body at a consistent rate he knew he was winning this battle.

While this was going on spectators were in awe, many had seen Henry around but never noticed him to be very special. He was just somebody who was acquainted with Tom, one of the best crafters. This was all until now were many of them were growing extremely faint and weak with many already collapse and others on the way, like a beacon of hope Henry began to scream ‘“I claim you!”’ And suddenly Nature began to wilt before their eyes, all of this combined with Henry's veins turning more and more green along with some being able to see his pupils turn green, they were not sure if Henry was some kind of monster.

Henry opened his hazy eyes trying to rub them with his hands until he remembered his hands were holding onto his ax.

As his vision stabilized he was able to see again and to his surprise was able to hear again too. Looking up at Nature he could see the deities wilted form in front of him, an almost cathartic view.

With the green in his veins slowly receding into his body as he absorbed the power.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Nature's face showed itself in the vines again with very little power. He only managed a few words no longer in his calm tone, “Little conquer you have made the enemy of a god, I cannot harm you now but i have temples everywhere and followers along with them.”

The remaining survivors felt the vines lose their power freeing them in the process. Many of them had been on the verge of life and death ready to collapse at any second. Besides them there was also a small minority group of people who were able to adapt to nature, giving them a very earthy feel.

With the deed done Henry slumped against a wall his vision had been blurred with notifications earlier but he moved them aside.

Henry slowly opened his eyes again, noticing everyone standing around him.

“Uhhh guess we should probably go huh.”

Tom slowly approached him to give him a hand, “ye know you can't keep passing out all the time.”

Henry chuckled, and began to read over his new abilities

Minor nature control

Nature God's eyes

Henry was pleased with his new abilities, especially Nature Gods Eyes. As he walked out of the temple he got one more notification.

Land Claimed: Nature Gods Temple

This notification came as a surprise to Henry, which he followed up by checking his map and noticing the first area actually open for him to see.

As they were all regrouping trying to count their losses two men and one woman walked up to Henry. The tallest of the three began to speak, “We have a message for you.”

The three began to speak in unison, “You have made an enemy of a primordial desire, watch your back kid.”

This message caused the stumbling Henry to go on guard and grip his ax tighter as he waited for the three to attack him.

Once they finished their message they regained some of their normal aura and told him, “We have no desire to hurt you as of now, but.” The man turned to his comrades, and they gave him a small nod, “Our brains are telling us we need to go south, we just wanted to inform you that is where we believe nature resides.”

Henry nodded, making a mental note of the danger the south holds.

Once they finished counting their losses many grew very upset as they had lost a lot of precious manpower in this dangerous world. The one common conscientiousness was their anger for the short old man and his group.
