Desire: An unknown land and a trek into the woods, Chapter 7

**An unknown land**

Cough Cough

“What's wrong, Nature?” A soothing voice calls out. Nature looks up, this man is clearly worried about him, in this realm of power people didn't tend to help each other nor even bat an eye at injury unless they knew they could take advantage of the situation. But, nature knew genuine worry was never in this man's eye, pure greed lurked behind every gesture.

“Hello, Pax I’m sorry you had to see me like this” Nature smiled back at the man. Pax was the desire for Peace one of the 4 cardinal desires.

“How did you end up like”

Nature came extremely close to Pax’s ear and whispered, “whilst it may have been an extremely weak avatar I had sent, I have birthed a new god killer, do not spread this news if you value what he can obtain us.”

Pax’s face had changed for a brief second from kindness and sympathy to a lust for this god killer. Everyone here knew that a god killer was a bountiful treasure whether for his killer, his protector or his overseer they all stood to gain from him.

After his momentary slip up he took a few steps back, and gave a light bow, “I'll make sure he gets all of the proper treatment when the time comes”

Nature walked away in the opposite direction still looking at the blood on his hand that spilled this deep secret he meant to keep. He knew from the moment he was defeated he shouldn't have told anyone but the worst pair of eyes was now on him.

Once they finished counting their losses many grew very upset as they had lost a lot of precious manpower in this dangerous world. The one common conscientiousness was their anger for the short old man and his group.

While their anger had swelled they knew they had to begin making their way back to their camp, a long journey that may pose more difficulties with less members.

As they were about to leave the area of the temple the three nature assimilators suddenly felt their senses tingle. “Everyone please watch out, the three of us felt a warning from the forests of enemies nearby.”

Henry had felt a similar feeling but knew it hadn't come from Nature's warning but something deeper inside of him.

The group began to get anxious, they had just finished surviving the nature gods forced assimilation and now had to deal with their first wild enemy in weeks. They began to get into the formations they created while in wait with Tom and the archers in the very back. Tom had used a melee weapon but was the only spell caster hence his protection.

While the tension had risen, many began to breathe roughly and loudly through their makeshift helmets. Most of them had been expecting a beast as strong as the red demon or at least in its level. They were quickly disappointed when they heard the tall male nature assimilator sigh and say, "ahh it's just an ape, it seems like he was trying to sneak up on us but noticed our hostility to it."

While the group let out a long sigh. They hadn't noticed Henry clenching his ax with white knuckles bearing through. The nature assimilators had been able to notice one small ape sneaking in the trees, Henry had what felt like a perception of everything in the area. To him the world had turned white and he could make out every living thing in a much darker color. Within this view behind the ape stood an enormous group of apes that seemed to lose interest in his group

With the sudden terror gone Henry feels the need to test his current power with his added nature control.

After attempting to channel it he thinks to himself, how would somebody control their desire for nature if they got it externally not necessarily from desiring nature. But, with his brief thought about it, his mind was filled with thoughts about controlling nature and slowly the nature in front of him began to move. First, it was small leaves then branches with his best finisher, being able to slightly twist the trees and move the roots.

Lame power Henry thinks to himself as he accepts what he was given. With, only a slight hint of envy of the nature assimilators for the power they were able to acquire.

After taking the 2 day trek back to their camp the people in Henry’s group were hit with a sudden realization.

The situation in front of Henry had not seemed that dire to him as he didnt feel too much connection to what they had built up; many of the surviving people had felt destroyed. The little bit of safety and substance they had built around themselves was either destroyed or ransacked.

And for the second time the rage building up within their people was starting to come out, some were crying, some had begun to hit things, but the conclusion they came to was an all out war against this other camp. An idea Henry had believed to be quite poor in their current circumstances.

This war driven thought process was only driven further by one man reaching into his pocket and pulling something out. “Haha those fools left behind the map they used to get here. We can use it to get to their camp.”

With their plan set they decided to make camp, Henry and the nature assimilators began by using their power to set up defenses and shelters out of the trees and other various foliage. This temporary camp would buy Henry time to hopefully calm everyone down; he wasn't fueled by rage or vengeance; he was able to keep a level head and thought this was all for naught. But for some reason he never spoke out against the plans, a strange inner force similar to not being able to bite down on your own tongue pushed inside of Henry.

“Phew, that takes a lot of concentration”, Henry said while looking towards the Nature assimilators.

The three of them gave him a light hearted smile, “It was definitely something” the shorter man had laughed, while moving a few more large trees.

Dejected, Henry decided to look at what he gained from claiming the Desire of Natures Temple on his map

Nature command Minor - medium

All watching eyes of a conqueror have been placed on your territory - you may see all those who are in it

These two lines answered many questions for Henry such as, why he was able to see all of those apes earlier, when they were getting ambushed secondly it helped him learn how abilities are distinguished.

With this knowledge in mind Henry figures out that the more territory he can control the stronger he can become in this unforgiving world.

“Tom tom, please I need a flag, any kind will do, just trust me”, and as Henry had no clue what constituted a flag he decided to ask Tom for help.

Tom had almost giggled this weirdo goes from being aloof to killing a Desire and now begging at his feet to make a flag out of nowhere. “You really are a weird guy you know that”, he sighed as he grabbed a few small pieces of cloth from his pocket, a stick and a piece of wood. “I’m not really sure if this is what you needed but anything constitutes a flag if it wants to represent it as.”

After thanking Tom Henry began making preparations to set out for a short while alone, he hadn't wanted anyone to know about his power and its abilities, this was especially true after Creation had pointed out a hint there was another conqueror amongst his group. His power essentially lets him spy on everyone's location at any given time. A truly useful ability for beating his enemies; and currently escaping the camp unnoticed.
