Chapter 5

The night of the Halloween Party had arrived. Polly wanted to make sure everything went well and that Dolly had a good time. She wasn't just meeting her friends tonight but this was also going to be her first time at an event like this in a while. Polly to Dolly's pick to pick up her friend. Polly told her she would give her a ride on her motorcycle but Dolly insisted that she and Polly get a ride there together from Rylan. Seeing how it was no problem for Rylan, Polly decided to go along with it and they drove to the Halloween Party.

Polly was dressed as a zombie with a black cape. She was an undead superhero.

Dolly was dressed as the grim reaper complete with a scythe. She looked at Polly. "You really chose to be a superhero for Halloween?" She asked with a chuckle. "Aren't you that every day?"

"I'm a different kind of superhero tonight," Polly said l "I was killed but I rose from the dead because the quest for justice never stops, even in death."

"That still sounds a lot like you," Dolly laughed. "You're supposed to be different for Halloween."

"This is different enough for me," Polly laughed as well. She looked up ahead, "We're almost there!"

Dolly smiled when she heard Polly say that. She knew without a doubt that there would be people there who would judge them if they saw their faces but she was not going to let them ruin her favorite holiday, especially when she was meeting with potential new friends. The artist knew how much Polly had been looking forward to this and like Polly for her, Dolly wanted the night to go great for her blonde friend, Polly had done so much for her just by being around and Dolly wanted to enjoy this night with her.

Rylan stopped right at the entrance of the party.

"Thanks, Rylan!" Both women said as they got out of the car.

Rylan smiled at them. "My pleasure."

"Enjoy your time with the others back home," Dolly said.

Rylan nodded and drove off. Polly and Dolly looked at each other and walked to the entrance where Filbert was waiting for them.

"Where have you guys been?" Filbert asked, dressed as a vampire.. "You were gone so long that Henry and Megan already took off."

"That's okay, we'll find them," Polly said.

Filbert nodded, his eyes turning their attention to the artist. "Nice costume, Dolly."

"Thanks," Dolly said. "I like yours too."

"Shall we go on ahead?" Filbert asked. The two women nodded and the three of them started to walk around the parties.

They were various games and activities around. All kinds of Jack-O-Lanterns were around the party. There was a haunted house with caution keep out tape with people in a line to go inside. Skeletons were also all around the party, some of them were hanging. Speaking of skeletons to pumpkins, there were also balloons of them, along with witches, vampires, and zombies.

"Polly!" A voice could be heard calling towards the blonde. Polly looked to see Henry, who was wearing a knight costume come running towards her.

"You two finally made it!" Henry said.

"Yep," Polly said. She put a hand on Dolly's shoulder. "Henry, I'd like you to meet Dolly."

Henry smiled at the artist, "Good to meet you. Polly's been talking a lot about you." He held out a hand.

Dolly shook his hand. "I've heard things about you two. Seems like they were true."

"All good things, right?" Henry asked.

Dolly chuckled. "Right."

"So you're the famous artist that Polly keeps talking about," Megan walked up to Dolly in her Devil costume. She smirked at the woman in front of her. "Name's Megan. Your stuff is sick."

"Thanks," Dolly said.

"The grim reaper," Megan looked over Dolly's costume. "That's right up my alley. You're definitely alright."

Dolly let out another chuckle. "You don't seem so bad yourself there."

"How's about drawing me and Henry here?" Megan wraps an arm around Henry, "We've already seen Polly and Filbert. We'd love to see what you can do with us."

Henry smiled at Dolly. "Would be cool."

Dolly took out a sketchpad and said, "Coming right up."

Megan kept her arm around Henry as Dolly drew the two of them. Filbert smiled at the sight and leaned closer to Polly.

"Things seem to be going pretty good so far," he said.

"Just like I knew they would," Polly said.

"Good idea in this being the place for them to finally meet," Filbert said.

Polly giggled. "It was actually your idea remember? And you're right. It was a good one."

"Let's just hope no idiots ends up ruining it," Filbert groaned.

"Everyone's doing their own thing are this party," Polly said. "It's Halloween, I don't think people are gonna wanna spend it on giving us a hard time."

"You would think is anyway," Filbert sighed.

Polly took off her mask and put a gentle hand on his shoulder with a smile. "It's fine, Filbert. I'm fine, Dolly's fine. We're all going to have a great time tonight."

Filbert saw the reassurance in her eyes and that was enough for him to give his own smile and nod. "You're right. I gotta stop worrying."

"Exactly," Polly chuckled as she out her mask back on.

Dolly finished the drawing and showed it to the others, "How's that?"

"Hey Megan, who's the handsome guy in the picture with you?" Henry asked her with a smirk.

"I think you may have had a little too much candy there," Megan joked.

Henry laughed. "Ouch."

"Which one of you wants the picture?" Dolly asked the two.

"I'll take it," Megan said, getting the picture from Dolly. "I am the one who asked for it after all."

Polly looked around the party as they talked. "They really went all out on the decorations this year."

"I'll say," Dolly said, her eyes scanning all the decorations around them. "Might draw another picture later."

"Yeah, save that for later," Filbert said. "Right now we've got games to play."

Megan smirks as she spots something. She turns to the group. "Up for a game of Trick or Drink?"

"Megan, you know I don't like alcohol," Polly said.

Megan shook her head. "No alcohol. Just some nice colored drinks and so well...tricks."

"I'm kind of curious," Dolly said.

"Follow me then," Megan replied. She led the group to a station where a couple of guys were drinking from cups. One guy finished the whole thing while the other spit it up.

"Sick!" He yelled, looking down at the worms that he had just spit out of his mouth. The other guy laughed.

Dolly and Megan also laughed. Filbert shuddered.

"The thought of worms going in my mouth is just...ugh," Filbert.

"You're gonna have to execute the possibly because we're next!" Megan said, grabbing Filbert's arm and pulling him closer.

"I think I'll pass on this one," Henry said. He looked over and saw another game taking place. "I think they're paying charades over there."

"That sounds more fun," Polly smiled. "Come on, Dolly."

Dolly followed after the two. There was a woman in front of a group of people trying to get them to guess what she was.

"A ghost!" One guy said.

"A vampire!" A woman shouted.

"Werewolf!" Henry guessed

The woman in front grinned at him, "You got it! Who wants to go next?"

"I'll go next," Dolly said, much to the surprise of Polly. The artist got up in front and started making gestures with her body that Polly could tell was something getting split in half. The others, including Henry, weren't exactly sure what she was trying to be.

"Uh....could you give us a hint?" One guy asked.

"That's not how the game works," Dolly told him. "This is an easy one. All you have to do is think for a second and you'll get it."

She continued her gestures as the people around her continued to think about what she was trying to imitate.

Dolly chuckled, "It's really not that hard people. You like horror movies, right?l

"Oooh, I get it!" The woman who was in front before said, You're a psycho killer!"

"Close but no," Dolly said. Polly looked at her for a few more moments before making her guess.

"You're the victim and you're getting cut in half by..." Polly tried to think.

"Yes?" Dolly asked.

"A chainsaw?" Polly asked.

"You got it!" Dolly said. "I knew you'd get it, Polly!"

"How were we supposed to know that?!" A guy asked.

"You were supposed to be something scary!" Another gut said.

"Oh, and getting cut in half by a chainsaw isn't scary?" Dolly asked.

"I can't believe I didn't get that," Henry faceplamed.

Polly chuckled and patted him on the back. "Hey, don't be hard on yourself. I had to do some thinking before got it too."

"She really got us," Henry chuckled as well. He then checked his phone and saw that he had gotten a text. He read it. "Villie's here. She wants to know where we are."

"Why don't you go find her?" Polly suggested. "I'm sure you two will be able to catch up with us."

Henry smiled and nodded. "Right." He then left and began searching for his girlfriend.

"I see you've been having a good time,' A voice told Henry.

The cop sighed, knowing that this was the voice of his partner Malcolm, and judging by the tone, he knew talking to him wasn't going to be fun. He turned to him. "What do you want Malcolm?"

Malcolm, who was dressed as a pirate, narrowed his eyes at him. "What? A man can try and talk to his partner?"

Henry crossed his arms as he narrowed his eyes back at him. "Not when he knows that he's just going to talk bad his friend again."

"The freak is bad news," Malcolm told him. Henry rolled his eyes. "You can roll your eyes if you want, but it's true. And I think I can finally prove it to you."

"Oh yeah?" Henry asked. "How do you think so?"

"You know that Matteo guy that was attacked?" Malcolm took a sip of the drink he had in his hand after drinking that. "Well get this, the freak came to his room and bothered him and his girl, and before he was attacked the two of them had a run in with her when she was bothering them ar he park."

"She wasn't bothering them," Henry said. "She was helping Daphne by stopping the guy who tried to take her purse."

"How do you know?" Malcom asked. "Where you there?"

"I didn't have to be," Henry said. "That's what Polly told me and she wouldn't lie."

"So you claim," Malcolm sipped his drink once again. "You think she's good but anyone who hides behind a mask all the time has to be hiding something."

"You know damn well why she wears her mask," Henry said. "Where exactly are you going with this? I'm trying to find my girlfriend."

"I was getting to that if you let me," Malcolm replied. "I talked with Matteo's girl and we both think that the freak might have had something to do with the attack.

"What?!" Henry couldn't believe the audacity of the man in front of him. To accuse Polly, the nicest person he's ever met, of doing something like that without any proof left the cop in complete disbelief. It was time like these when he got where Filbert was coming from when he got angry and went on one of his rants about people like this. "That's bullshit! She would never do anything like that. All she did was try and help those two and I'm sure that's why she was in Matteo's room. Just because you don't like Polly doesn't give you the right to make stuff up like that about her."

"You're so sure I'm making this stuff up," Malcolm said with a glare. "How are you so sure the nice girl thing is all an act?"

"How are you so sure it is?" Henry asked. "Remember, if it wasn't for her, you would've been dead ten times over."

Malcolm growled and just stormed off. Henry shook his head. That guy really had some nerve acting the way he did towards Polly after all she's done. He didn't want to just stand around and think about that and keep Villie waiting so he continued on his way to find her.

Polly and Dolly had been having a great time at the party. They played some more games and it went great, just as Pollt had hoped. They didn't have any giving them a hard time because of their costumes. They were free to just have a good time and seeing Dolly doing just that, Polly couldn't have been happier.

"So what do you wanna do next?" Polly asked Dolly as the two walked around.

Dolly looked around trying to figure out what she wanted to do next. "I don't know. There's a lot of other good ones we still haven't tried."

"Hey, you two!" Megan's voice called as she came to the two with Filbert. "Where have you been?"

"We were just playing some games," Polly said.

"So were we," Megan said, "We were wondering where you guys ran off too.

"Yeah," Filbert said. "Aren't we all supposed to be hanging out together?" He looked around realizing someone was missing. "Where's Henry?"

"Right here!" Henry said, walking up with a red-haired woman who was wearing a queen costume.

"Oh hey, Vicky," Filbert said, "When did you get here?"

"A while ago," Villie said. "Ans it's Villie."

Filbert chuckled, "Oh right."

"So now that the gang's all back together, what are we doing next?" Megan asked.

Polly was about to say something when Dolly grabbed her shoulder and pointed to people gathered around a big jar of candy corn.

"Ooh, that's a great idea, Dolly!" Polly said. "Let's go guess how much candy corn is in the jar guys."

The group made their way to the jar. The guy running it smiled at them.

"You guys wanna try your hand at guessing his much candy corn in in the car?" The guy asked.

"I'm gonna guess 1000," Henry said

"2000," Filbert said.

Villie rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. She didn't really care of games like these but she figured she might as well try. "2500."

"Sorry guys, but none of you got it right so far," The guy said. He looked at the remaining three. "How about you three? Think you can guess."

Megan smirked and looked at Filbert, Henry, and Villie. "You guys might have been guessing a little too high. I'm gonna say 860."

"You've got to be kidding me!" Filbert said. "There's way more than that!"

"I'm afraid you're wrong too," The guy told Megan.

"4300!" Polly and Dolly guessed at the same time.

The guy pointed at them with a huge grin on his face. "You guys got it!" He handed them a big shack of candy. "Here's your prize. You two will have to share but something tells me you guys won't mind."

"A little too high, huh?" Filbert crossed his eyes as he gave Megan a look.

Megan chuckled and held her hands up. "Hey, I've been wrong before."

"I guess we'll be carrying this around for the rest of the night," Polly said.

"Guess so," Dolly responded, happy to have something to share with her friend.

"Hey!" A voice yelled at the group. Daphne, who like Villie was dressed as a Queen, made her way over to them with a couple of friends by her side.

"You again," Dolly said in a quiet annoyed voice.

Filbert glared at Daphne. "What do you want?"

"What do I want?!" Daphne snapped. "I want that freak arrested!"

"I think I can guess what," Henry said, crossing his arms.

"If you can then do your job!" Daphne barked at him.

"Wait, what's going on?" Polly asked.

"A certain partner of mine has her thinking that you had something to do with Matteo being attacked."

"You've got to be kidding me!" Filbert said. "That's absolutely ridiculous!" He glared at Daphne again. "Get out of here! You're the only one looking like a freak here!"

Daphne ignored him, instead focusing all of her attention on Polly. "And you had the nerve to show up in his room and pretend you wanted to "help"!" She walked closer and started poking Polly. "You listen and you listen-ack!"

Daphne stopped and let out a cry of pain as her arm had been grabbed and twisted by Dolly. Daphne's friends went wide-eyed

Polly was also shocked by this. "Dolly!"

Dolly put more pressure on Daphne's arms as she twisted in, making it more painful. "It's rude to ruin someone's good time at a party with your dumb allegations. You have no proof that Polly had anything to do with what happened to your boyfriend and I'm not just going to let you treat her as if she did."

"Dolly, let her go," Henry said.

"Why?" Dolly asked, twisting Daphne's arm even more in anger. Why was Henry stepping in and telling her to stop. "So she can keep being mean to Polly even though all she's done is try and help her?"

"I don't like it anymore than you don't but this is not the way to handle it," Henry replied.

"You sure about that Henry?" Because I'm sure having a good time." Filbert smirked.

"Ditto," Megan agreed with a smirk of her own.

Henry frowned at them. "Not helping you two."

"He's right, Dolly," Polly said, grabbing the hand of Dolly's that was twisting Daphne's arm. "I appreciate what you're trying to do but this isn't going to help anything. Please let her go."

Dolly sighed and released Daphne, not without pushing her, causing Daphne's two friends to have to catch her.

"Well that was fun, but I think you better scram before your pretty little head gets taken off," Megan laughed.

Daphne held her arm as she glared at the group. "This isn't over! You hear me?! I'll make you pay for this and for Matteo! He was supposed to be my king tonight and he can't be here with me because of you! You'll all pay!"

"Oh look there's the maze," Megan said, pointing at the maze. "Come on guys why don't we go try it out."

The group walked away from Daphne and to the maze.

NN

The rest of the night had gone well. The group had went through the maze, played more games, and had eaten some good food but after a while, they decided to call it a night. Filbert, Megan, Henry, and even Villie all were given some candy from the shack. Henry and Villie headed home, and Megan offered Filbert the chance to stay at her place, which he took because Polly was going with Dolly.

After the group had separated, Polly and Dolly were picked up but Rylan and taken by the the mansion. They entered through the door with Rylan.

"I'm glad you two had a good time," Rylan said.

"We really did," Polly said. "The night went even better than I'd hoped for the most part."

Dolly took her mask off and walked past Polly with a grin on her face.

"I know what I want to paint next," Dolly told her and she immediately started working on the art. "Feel free to watch TV until I'm done."

Polly smiled and took the shack to the TV. She ate a couple more pieces of candy as she watched a movie.

"Polly!" Dolly called her after a while. "It's finished!"

Polly got yo and went to check out Dolly's newest art piece. She smiled when she saw it was a painting of the entire group in their costume.

"Oh, Dolly..." Polly said. "I think this might be my favorite of yours yet."

"It's certainly a favorite of mine," Dolly turned to her with a smile. "I'd give it to you but I actually want to keep it and hang it in my room."

Polly was touched when she heard that. She went up to Dolly and hugged her. A blush came on the artist's face. Little did she know that the blonde was blushing as well. Dolly returned the two and the two of them stayed there for a bit before releasing it.

"Wanna watch some more movies?" Dolly asked her.

"Of course," Polly replied with a smile.

The two of them went back to the couch just another monster movie was coming on. The two ate candy and watched the movie and Dolly had put her hand on Polly's shoulder, causing them both to blush again a bit. The two enjoyed the rest of their night together.
