"So, he actually did it." Zeke sighed to the librarian, "The man did it, he's actually dating the villainess." The librarian dropped her books, "What? That was unexpected, yet, expected at the same time."
"I know right miss librarian."
"My name's Alex remember."
Zeke tried to remember her name but forgot again, he's actually the reason why everyone calls Achilles Hero.
"Miss librarian, what do you do during your free time."
"Oh, asking me to a date huh?"
"No, I'm just bored now that nothing's going on." Alex basically sulked at this indirect rejection,
"When I'm bored, I read books and think about how nice it is to be in a relationship." Alex said trying to drive the point home, "So what you're trying to say is, I should get into a relationship, just like Hero?" he questioned, Alex nodded her head furiously, "You're so right!" Zeke said standing up,
"Well if you want to be in a relationship so bad why don't you go out with me?" Alex asked; however, Zeke was already long gone.
"It shouldn't be so hard to get a girl to like me." Zeke said walking down the street. All the girls had their eyes on him, however whenever Zeke looked there way, they would instantly turn their head away from him. "None of the girls seem interested in me." he sighed. "Look there's the hot elf like boy." one of the random girls said, "Isn't he so attractive?" another squealed, Zeke heard that and looked around, "I wonder who they're talking about?" he shrugged and moved forward.
Zeke spotted a girl who was standing alone by herself,
"Hey you, tell me. Am I attractive?" Zeke asked clutching her hands, the girl felt like flowers were blooming around the young man, and she could basically hear the saxophone playing.
"I-you me ahhhhhhhh." she shouted running away embarrassed that she couldn't form a proper sentence, "I knew it, I'm the ugliest in the group. No wonder Hero has lots of fans." he sulked kicking a rock down the path like he usually does. "It's not as easy as I thought, getting a girlfriend."
"I'm more cut out for fighting evil and giving Hero advice." Zeke reached into his pocket and pulled out a coin, he thought about getting a real job for one quick second before shoving the thought to the side, unfortunately for Zeke now that that thought was planted into his mind, he can't get rid of it. "Maybe Librarian will let me work for her?" He thought, "It would be a great distraction and I would make some cash."
He hurried back to Alex's store and slammed the door open, startling Alex who ended up dropping her book again. "Zeke! Can't you enter like a normal person?"
You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
"No time to talk, hire me please."
"What no."
"Why?"
"B-because." Alex tried to find a reason but couldn't, she doesn't want to be in an area with her crush for all periods of the day, it's just embarrassing for her to think of.
"Come on you can't think of a reason, just let me work here, you know how graceful I am, plus I'm silent when I'm not purposefully bothering you, besides I worked here before remember." Alex couldn't deny it, he was right, and plus the last time he worked here they had record breaking sale, it would be great for business.
"Okay fine. Uniforms in the back, you're going to work here for the day."
One of the customers heard this, she rushed out of the store and down the road spreading the news to others, who spread the news to others. Soon the store was packed to the brim with men who wanted to see the Hero's sidekick, and girls who had a crush on the Hero's sidekick.
"What's it like fighting against Iris."
"It's fun, though I don't think she's going to cause any more problems."
"Whoa, what makes you think that?"
"Just a hunch."
The men practically squealed at what they assume was a cool one liner. Zeke deadpanned at their excitement, though he was happy that so many people looked up to him, he's even surprise he has girl fans, 'unfortunately they aren't romantically interested in me.' he placed more books on the shelf, 'and I don't think I would date them even if they were.' He placed the last books on the shelf and served the last customers. When he cleaned and closed up, he walked in the back where Alex was having a cup of tea. "I forgot how much work it is working here."
"More work than fighting a dragon?"
"Way more work than fighting a dragon." they both laughed before Zeke got up to pour himself a cup of tea. Due to exhaustion his arms were kind of shaky, so he accidentally wasted some on his hand,
"Zeke are you okay, that teas hot?" Alex asked rushing to his side, she thanked God they were in the break room and reached into the sink to pull out a damp towel, "Oh I'm alright it's nothing." he responded not noticing the burn until she pointed it out, "no you aren't your skin's starting to peel." she responded worried, she sat him down and looked for a first aid kit. Zeke felt something bubble up within him, he never knew how nice it felt for someone to worry for him. He held a light smile on his face.
Iris and Hero sat back-to-back on the couch.
"We weren't in this chapter." Hero pointed out.
"Really!?"
