Chapter 40

Brad looked at me and said “I have no reason to fight you anymore. He is defeated and my contract with him allows me to back down now.” Alfred was still on the ground on his knees listening to us. I said “What are you going to do with him?” while pointing at Herch. He said “I have nothing against him. I have also no reason to keep you from killing him. So you can do to him whatever you want” Alfred opened his mouth but no sound came out. I said to him “If you like you can take him and sell him as a slave.” He turned to me “What use can he have? I don’t think he would survive even two days in a salt mine.” I said to him “You think too innocently, I believe some old rich woman or worse for him some men might like him for their bedrooms.” Herch looked at me terrified but he didn’t speak. Brad pulled him from his blond hair to make him stand. Looked at his face and teeth like looking at a horse. He said “Yes you are right. Right kind of people might pay good money for this pretty creature.”

I turned to Herch and said “Do you know, if you did let Tom go in his wedding none of this would happen. I don’t know who made you like this but you are insane, you thought you can do whatever you want to whomever you want. I am going to ask you once Herch, do you prefer to live as a slave or die?”  He started to understand his position, he started to understand he was noting. He started to beg “Oh kind sir, lord, master, please let me live” he was crying. “Let me live master” may be in his small head; he thought he could somehow save himself and return to his land as a Baron. No problem for me. I really didn’t care about the people. Like I said before I believe evil can only exist if people don’t resist it. I believe people who are ruled by tyrants deserve it, or even with their compliance they create tyrants.

Although I believed his people deserved a leader like him I wanted to give them a chance. I brought out the papers and inks I carried for a long time. I started to write an agreement saying Alfred Herch leaving his land to Marcus Steel, to make it extra believable I explained in the document he saw her sister as a traitor too. I needed to get rid of Gloria to make this agreement unchallenged. So I asked Brad “As you know there are many believers of Altus in this land now. If you agree to fight with me against Gloria I can make you this land bishop and you can teach the right way of believing in Altus to these people. He scratched his black beard and said “I think you have a good plan.” I said “Yes I do” He said “If you tell me what it is, maybe I agree.” After I told him about my battle plan he instantly agreed with a huge grin.

I write the agreement making Brad as the Bishop of the land of Herch. Alfred brought out his seal and sealed and signed the deal. I am not the kind of person who backs off his promises so I was going to let Alfred live as a slave.
