Emilia was shaking like a leaf in fear. Are these humans the original owners of the castle? Are they from the auction house? Bandits? There were endless possibilities.
Emilia suddenly realized how alone she truly was in this world since she automatically assumed anyone coming to her front door had hostile intentions.
Although she knew these humans were weak from their aura’s, she absolutely refused to resort to violence. She had never been in a fight her entire life and the thought of hurting someone was too scary. She had a soft heart.
Quickly thinking things through Emilia got to work. Although she didn’t wish to fight, she had the power of information on her side! Knowledge is power as they say…
[Summon Book] ‘Grimoire for the spell Appraisal’
Above Emilia’s head, a portal to an endless library dimension opened. A moment later a black book fell out into Emilia’s hands.
Emilia then flicked the book open to the first page and all the information poured out from the book and entered in between her eyebrows. A slight headache followed the enormous amount of information. Luckily Emilia’s INT and WIS stats are very high so her processing speed and mental strength are very high.
Ding! Skill [Appraisal X] has been learned!
Ding! +6532 exp for reading “Appraisal Grimoire”
Emilia then cast [Invisibility X] and stealthily approached the window. At the gate of the castle’s stone walls were eight people. They were all surrounding a girl with red hair, she seemed to be their leader.
‘Appraisal’ Emilia thought silently and soon a status screen appeared in her mind:
[Name: Scarlett Darlington]
[Race: Human]
[Class: Unknown]
[Titles: Unknown]
[Level: Unknown]
[Stats: Unknown]
[Skills: Unknown]
[Please note that the target is not integrated with the system and therefore cannot use the features of the system.]
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
‘Eh? How bizarre’ Emilia fell into deep contemplation. ‘How can they not be part of the system, strange…’
Emilia then thought of a great idea, [Summon Book] ‘Autobiography of Scarlett Darlington’
[Please note this book does not exist and the target isn’t part of the system so the mana consumption will be 1000x the normal cost to create the book from scratch, continue? Y/N]
‘Yes!’ Emilia thought as she felt an enormous amount of mana leave her body. She checked her reserves and realized she only has around 30% of her mana left. She would need to sleep in order to recover the mana.
Once again a portal to an endless library dimension opened up and after a few seconds a book fell out. It had a picture of the red-haired women on the cover and the title:
“Scarlett Darlington Autobiography: My life and adventures in Astra”
Emilia then opened the book and proceeded to absorb its contents like before. This time the amount of information was harder to digest and Emilia saw it as a fast-paced movie of Scarlett’s entire life.
Yes, entire life.
Emilia’s hands started shaking a little. ‘D-did this book come from the future?’
She knew why these people were here, what questions they would ask, how they would react.
She even saw Scarlett and her future husband’s lovemaking sessions and later their sleepless nights from raising their baby.
Emilia was a little disturbed. She knew even more about Scarlett now than Scarlett herself even knew.
Is this why the system awarded me with the title of Sage? I am all-knowing?
The Goddess did warn me and said this ability would be more overpowered than I thought it would be.
Emilia didn’t know if she should laugh or cry. Sometimes knowing too much is a heavy burden. For example, she knows what causes Scarlett’s death and how her child will be kidnapped and raped by a gang.
Now with this information should she tell her? Would she even listen? Would it cause some weird paradox and cause even worse consequences?
Emilia decided this was a power no mortal should have and would avoid looking into other people’s lives in the future.
Ignorance is bliss.
She never even wanted this level of power in the first place! She just picked skills that would allow her to read in peace.
Emilia didn’t plan to use [Summon Book] to obtain information about the other 7 humans, and even if she wanted to, she can’t as she didn’t have the mana.
Emilia decided to calm her expression as she sat back down in her comfy chair. She then picked up a random book from the bookcase and started reading.
After 20 minutes her emotions had finally calmed down and she decided to address the situation outside. From her perception, the people were at the gate.
She already knew everything that was going to happen after all. There was no need to rush.
Right on cue, she heard a shout from outside.
“Excuse me, we are sure you don’t understand us but is anyone home?!”
Of course, Emilia already knew this was coming and even knew who shouted. It was Scarlett.
Emilia then lazily glanced to the side and used her skill [Summon Undead]
Soon after a 6ft tall human skeleton appeared. Its glowing red eyes looked towards Emilia and then it bowed.
“Master,” it said with a genderless voice.
Emilia then summoned a butler outfit she had bought in Utopia city before escaping and handed it to the skeleton.
The skeleton seemed puzzled
“Put it on”
“Yes Master”
The skeleton put on the white shirt and then the black suit and bow tie.
Emilia did this because she knew Scarlett would freak out if she saw an undead and try to kill it. Putting it in human clothes should make it less scary.
Emilia then pointed towards the front door and softly said “Welcome the guests inside for me?”
The tall butler skeleton gave a short bow to show it accepted the order and then proceeded towards the front door.
