A black-scaled dragonman stood on the plateau, looking at a boy with blue hair. The former had a terrifying expression while the latter had a big grin on his face. He looked as if he managed to do something really great.
But a party like this shouldn’t start without a certain Warmonger who happened to be the rival of the blue-haired boy. “Hey!!! I’ll join in on the fun!” shouted a boy with purple hair, and sheepishly glanced at Stein who nodded with an annoyed expression.
Raven saw the priceless look on San’s face who was looking at Stein and Makarov at an interval. A little calmer, Raven’s look softened considerably and he started laughing.
He then took the time to look at the audience. Stein was standing with Robert and Laura at his side. Then there was Jet with a tired look standing near a mummy. Lily on the other hand, was as healthy as a deer. This made Raven a little bit relieved and his prior anger vanished.
“Principal, I was first, he shouldn’t be allowed to join in.” said San with a begging look.
“Rules, my child.” said Stein with a sigh as he shrugged his shoulders.
“He said it.” said Makarov with a wide grin, similar to the previous expression on San’s face.
The situation was already chaotic, but a certain someone decided to make it even more so. This was none other than the Boris from the cannon fodder group’s minion. Although the servant of a weakling, he wasn’t as such.
He had a fearsome look and a muscular build, standing at around 2.5m tall, with a scar running through his right white eye. The person was wearing a dark green tank top and military pants. If one didn’t see that he was attending Krouxorth, they’d think the individual was a military general.
This was a great contrast to the 2 teenagers, looking around the age of 18. They both didn’t lack muscles, but they couldn’t be called bulky. As for the clothes they were wearing, San wore loose brown pants and a long blue and white shirt without sleeves. He had tied the shirt with his belt and a small part could be seen hanging from below it.
Makarov, on the other hand, was wearing a white tank top under an unbuttoned green military shirt and loose green military pants. In the fashion sense, he was close to the muscular one. They were both from the Larka Union, after all.
“I’ll also join.” said the bulky man, to which the annoyed Stein, nodded his head.
“Geez, why do you have to ruin all the fun, Ivan?” asked Makarov.
“You’re the one who ruined it first!” shouted San.
“Hey, I’ll join in too.” said a girl. Stein looked at her and facepalmed. Why in the world would these idiots try to win him over?
The last one was a girl with a petite build, but Raven got the feeling that she concealed immeasurable power. The girl had shoulder height black hair and hazel eyes. She was currently wearing a long red coat with a black sailor uniform under it, with a red tie, so this meant, she had a skirt.
“Wow, this is the first Japanese I saw since coming here.” mumbled Raven with a smirk.
The girl had 2 sheathed tantos on her back, in horizontal positions. Raven knew that this was a far more logical choice than the upright one.
There was also a small pouch tied to her right leg, who knows what is inside that.
“Not you too, Himiko!” shouted San with an expression showing that he was about to cry while Makarov almost fell to the ground while laughing.
“Battle Start!!!” shouted Stein, not even bothering to take out the microphone.
The one who started the fight was Ivan, who threw a punch at Makarov. He dodged under it and sent an uppercut to his chin.
Ivan kneed him in the abdomen and sent him flying. Makarov only smiled and grabbed the air as if it was solid, then he stood up in the air.
During this time, Himiko and San were glaring at each other.
*Bam!!!*
The 2 clashed with their fists, and unbelievably, Himiko was gaining ground while San was clenching his teeth. She quickdrawed a tanto with her free hand and slashed at San’s punching hand.
He instantly pulled it back and leaped backwards at the same time. But Raven wouldn’t just entrust his fate to some maniacs, so he attacked too. The means of attack was, of course, his favorite [Shadow Step] and [Shock Blade] combo.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
*Buzz!*
The blade clearly hit him, but San stood unfazed.
[Blue Lotus Flame]
A blue flame appeared out of San’s hand and rushed at Raven. But he skipped away through the shadows unhindered.
Himiko, clearly angered that her opponent took his sight away from her, sent him flying with a punch to the abdomen.
She then grabbed something from the pouch tied to her leg and threw it at San.
*Boom!!!*
A loud explosion occurred and San was sent flying due to the shockwave.
“You’re using technology?!” he shouted.
“You’re using qi, so it only makes sense.” she answered with a smirk.
“I’m from a dynasty, qi is only natural to me.” retorted San.
“So that means it’s only natural for me to use technology because I’m from the Rising Empire.” said Himiko with a mocking tone.
“Have it your way!” shouted San and he started using qi in full throttle.
A fist hit her in the stomach, sending her flying. But the assailant, San, looked at his hand in disbelief.
“Hey, is that even allowed?” he asked with wide eyes.
“Why of course, my dad’s the Head Alchemist.” she answered and started shooting him.
The reason San was startled was because of the armor she was wearing underneath her uniform. It was invisible so it couldn’t be seen, but the effect was amazing, contrary to its slimness. It was called ‘Bunkatsu Armor’. It’d divide the shockwave through the full body and lessen the initial impact. This was only given to military personnel or important people.
The gun she was holding wasn’t normal either. It was a jet black pistol, named ‘Ryu Gun’. It was named that because if used properly, it could possibly injure a dragon. Although Himiko wasn’t far from that, it wasn’t at that level yet.
The pistol didn’t shoot bullets. It used mana to create destructive blasts. So several rounds of blasts hit the place San was standing before. He had already run away.
On the other side, Makarov and Ivan were in a fist fight.
After seeing this, Stein said with a sigh “This is a magic academy, guys, at least use a little bit of it.” He then looked at Himiko and smiled.
“The hell is with that look!?” she shouted with a blush.
“You’re the only one who is using mana.” said Stein with a carefree tone. He then pointed at some seemingly random place and said “He isn’t using pure magic.”
Where he pointed, was Raven, who was hiding in the shadows and looking for an opportunity. When he was fully submersed in shadows, he appeared somewhere he liked to call, The Shadow Realm.
It was just like the real world, but there was no light, at all. However, there were some places that showed events on the other side, meaning, in the real world. Those places were the places with shadow and the ones devoid of it were the places filled with light.
Raven and Jet could access it freely, but their magic would run out and they’d be trapped there if they stayed there for long, at least in theory. They didn’t know if they would actually be forced back. None of the two were willing to take such a risk.
San punched Ivan away, sending him flying and used a qi-based attack.
[Lotus Flame Fist]
His fists got enveloped by blue flames and he punched Makarov in the abdomen. It left a charred skin in its wake and sent the recipient flying.
What he did was similar to magic, but he used the ability of his Martial Spirit. Although most were normal animals, in some rare cases, mythical animals or plants and objects could occur. The one he had was a Mythical Plant-type Martial Spirit.
The name was ‘Geocentric Flame Lotus’, as such, he could use fire even though he doesn’t have a talent in magic for it.
Makarov jumped out of the building he crashed into and sent a punch at San’s face, sending him flying away. If one would look at Makarov, they’d see that the previously charred skin had already healed. However, his tank top had a nasty hole.
Himiko shot at Makarov, which he blocked by swing of his hand.
What made Terra interesting was, in fact not the widespread magic alone, but what could rival it. There were many kinds of energies in the world: Qi, Worldly Energy, Mana and many more. There were some that dominated the others, but they went extinct with time, only leaving the most adaptive in doing that.
Currently, there were 8 widespread, or specifically, well-known types of energies and bloodlines.
1. Magic
2. Qi
3. Worldly Energy
4. Berserker Blood
5. Curse
6. Chaos
7. Miasma
8. Virtue
Although the first 5 were equal, the last 3 were in another league. As they were the energies used by the 3 primordial beings. Which were Virtue by Angels and descendants of Yahweh, Miasma by demons and devils, Chaos by Drakons otherwise known as Dragon Gods.
After some research, Raven found out that there are in fact Angels and a church, not to mention The One, Demons and Devils too. Surprisingly, they came into existence before the Titans and Gods. The timeline was somehow blurred and he couldn’t know if Gods, Demons and Angels were connected or not.
If Terra was like Earth, then the Church might have blurred the past and made it so that their Lord was primordial or who knows, that was just a theory.
Anyways, back to the story. Makarov was using the energy known as Curse, Ivan too. Actually, the Larka Union consisted of Curse users. In this sense, they were like Kuruth Kingdom.
Curse, unlike magic or qi and worldly energy, was unique to every person. No two people could be born with the same type of Curse. Although named a Curse, it was more of a blessing with a slight drawback.
Makarov’s curse was ‘Crystal Physique’. His body was actually made of crystal and was harder than steel and comparable to diamond. The side-effect would be something really stupid, and that was … let’s leave it for a later date.
He then shot up towards Himiko, who used the shockwave from the shot to send herself to the side.
She then consecutively fired her gun in desperation. Thankfully, Ivan punched him away.
“Okay, the other 2 contestants are out of bounds!” shouted Stein gleefully.
“The hell!? At least tell the conditions before you do that!” shouted San, red like a tomato.
“I agree, that’s unfair!!!” shouted Makarov with an angry expression.
“Shut up. I’m strong, you’re weak. I’m right, you’re wrong.” said Stein, covering his ears and acting as if he didn’t hear it.
The 2 knew that an argument with him would only waste their breath and they didn’t want to anger him either.
Ivan’s eyes were wide when he heard that. “I give up!!!” he shouted hurriedly as Himiko innocently pulled out a large rifle from the small pouch, and slowly aimed it at him.
