A girl with black hair and blue eyes was lying on a bed, looking at the ceiling of the small room she was in. Her hair was tied in a ponytail by a red cloth and her hair had blue endings. There was a mole over her right eye, on her eyelids.
This girl was Isabella, and her looks weren’t something to be proud of, or to be ashamed of. She was what you would call an average.
There was a large poster of a woman with leather clothes and sunglasses on the wall and she was holding a microphone. This was Isabella’s childhood idol.
She then stood up after lying for a while, approximately 10 minutes, when a knock was heard on the door.
Isabella was more of a tomboy and was wearing a red tank top revealing her belly, a short black leather jacket and dark blue jeans. The jeans had a tear on each knee and her clothes resembled the woman on the poster.
She opened the door and was met with a handsome man. He had light green eyes and grey hair. Currently, that person was wearing a white suit over a white shirt.
“Oh, you’re in that form I see.” said the man after examining her body.
“The wings are too annoying.” she said as she left the room.
If one were to see the corridor they were in, they’d recognize it as the house of Tristan Cangard’s family.
They chatted while descending the stairs. Isabella was the one who started the conversation.
“This place is awfully calm considering that it’s going to be a battlefield soon.”
“They don’t know about it yet. If it wasn’t for your father hiding the treasure here, then the Cangard family would be destroyed instead.” said the man.
“I don’t really care for those old monsters. But having my hometown destroyed hurts my heart, you know. Anyways, it’s not like that person is capable of dying.” answered Isabella with her eyes closed.
“You haven’t met Ulacarnne yet, so you don’t know. It’s said that he fought Gerard toe-to-toe before becoming a progenitor.” said the man with a serious tone.
“You know an awful lot about him, don’t you, Yamato?” she asked as she sharpened her gaze.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
“I’m a runaway lab rat, after all. He would occasionally come to check our progress and we’d almost piss our pants.” said Yamato with wide eyes. This was some kind of trauma.
“I always wonder why you joined The Syndicate even though you’re so scared of them.” said Isabella with a wondering expression.
“If it wasn’t for the Nevestulkas freeing me, I would still be there, being experimented on day in and out. I have to pay them back.” said Yamato with a smile “and I don’t really mind dying for a noble cause.”
“Jeez, that’s why I hate fighting your kin so much, you’re too loyal.” she said with disgust on her face. She was capable of being a loyal comrade, but not to that extent.
The two then walked with an eerie silence, as they left the house. Isabella then locked the door with the key she always had as a pendant.
The city was as lively as ever, children playing, adults working and some housewives drying their laundry. Isabella felt something at her throat thinking about what this place would soon become.
Yamato’s slightly sharp ears stood up on end and he said “Let’s hide.”
He then dragged her into an alley and jumped up the building. He then motioned for her to lie, which he was doing himself. Yamato then peeked at the street down below.
There were a bunch of people with white cloaks over armor, with a red cross on their chest. They were currently having an argument with a bunch of men with suits.
“Those are our men, let’s help them.” said Isabella while cracking her fists.
“They’re just footmen, anyways, their opponents aren’t pushovers.” said Yamato silently, hushing his accomplice.
…
The argument below
“Who the heck are you to stand in our path?” shouted the thug-looking man with a suit. He had a bald head.
“May the lord have mercy upon your soul.” said the man with a small stature.
“Wha-“ before he could finish his words, his head flew off from his body.
The man in the white was holding a cross-shaped sword, and by his command, the others started unsheathing their blades.
“Attack!!!” shouted the second-in-command of the Syndicate group.
“In the name of the lord!!!” shouted the commander of the white group.
It was complete annihilation; only one man was left standing.
“They were all strong mages, how in the world?” mumbled Isabella, dumbstruck.
“That, my child; is The Church.” said a woman behind her.
The two of them turned around to see an earth-shaking beauty with black hair. Her hair had emerald endings and she had a smile on her face.
“May I know what the great Jade Empress is here for?” asked Yamato with a polite tone.
“I heard that IT is in this village, so I’m here to enjoy the chaos.” she said as her smile turned into a grin “It’s the best show that a person like me could wish for.”
“I should’ve known.” said Isabella with an annoyed tone.
“Hmm, it seems you’ve grown a backbone.” said Lucy while glaring at her.
“I’m 16, how can I not become strong?!” Isabella shouted.
“So you’re still a toddler.” she said with a mocking tone.
“You always know how to get on my nerves.” said Isabella as her veins started bulging.
“Hey, calm down girl, you still have zero sense of humor, you know that?” complained Lucy “Anyways, your grandpa will come with his army too.”
“This is becoming more troublesome by the second.” mumbled Isabella as she looked at the sky, noticing a few planes flying in the sky, which should be impossible without Sun Kingdom's technology.
