It’s so cold. Where did all the heat go? I look around to see I’m in my room. “Mommy?” I look around for her, but she isn’t here. When did she leave the room? Everything else looks normal, but something is off with the air. I raise my nose slightly and sniff around. “Eww,” A smelly odor covers the air.
I look around again to see if I can find the source of the smell, but no luck. It’s coming from everywhere. How can an odor be so strong and yet it’s nowhere? Even plugging my nose is barely preventing the smell from entering. My head feels light as I loosen my grip around my nose. Right as I’m about the faint, the smell goes away. A gust of wind flies through the room and takes the smell away.
How strange. Where did the gust of wind come from? I’m indoors and the wind wasn’t coming in through the window. I wrap my fingers around the messy pink side of my hair and watch as my fingers twirl my hair around while I ponder on how the fuck wind appeared here. Was it magic? After all, I was isekai by a skeleton with really good dental work.
How did that skeleton have such good teeth? I had to get braces for a few months and then wear those clear thingies every night for the rest of my life. Wait? Are there any dentists in this world? How am I going to take care of my teeth? Is there a magic spell? Am I going to lose all of my teeth by the time I mature?
I can’t lose my teeth! How am I going to chew apples? As I get more stressed, I pull my hair harder. If I don’t go bald of natural causes, it’s going to be from my anxiety. This is too much! It’s too hard! “I don’t wanna lose my teeth!” I slam my head to my knees.
“I wanna go home! My poor soul isn’t made to endure stuff like this.” Tears run down my eyes as a feeling of emptiness grows. “I was-was supposed t-to have problems like, like w-w-what flavor of ice I-I-I wanted. Or-or fight over t-the t.v. remote with Pride. I wanna watch ``That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Gaylord King.”
As I’m having a mental breakdown, I mean a wonderful thought provoking mind experiment. I feel a draft of air come from my door, followed by footsteps that draw my attention. “Great! Now there’s something in here! How much worse can it get! I shouldn’t be yelling my thoughts out! There’s literally something in here that’s probably going to kill me! Shut up! No, you shut up! How dare you tell me to shut up, you poopyhead! Poopyhead? Really? That’s the saddest insult I’ve ever heard. No, it’s not! Why am I arguing with myself!”
As anyone suspected, my head was straight. My fear is nonexistent. There was nothing in this world that could-
“Hello there, little girl.” a voice said, followed by slurping sounds.
I look up to see two glowing orange eyes. Orange, like the color orange, not the fruit. It stood outside of my room, just watching me. Is it going to hurt me? Why hasn’t it come in yet?
The creature giggles and simpers, “Come here little girl… With your long, sweet, mixed hair.” Its pink tongue comes out from the shadows and starts licking the floors with a giant fleshy pink tongue. Everywhere its tongue went, it left the spot sparkling clean.
I just stare at it. Something about how it talks and moves is giving me a lot of red flags. I really should not go near it. Maybe it relies on sight and if I stay still, it won’t notice me.
“I can see you,” it said, slurring its words as it licks the floor. Its body hides in the shadows.
I look down at the covers to see the moonlight on them in just one area. It somehow made a perfect square, only covering the parts of the bed I am in. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to hide in the one spot that was covered in light.

I looked back up at the shadow. Its tongue was nowhere to be seen. Its orange eyes are also gone… and its shadow… Quietly, I fiddle with my hair, trying to put my thoughts together.
“Ok, so orange eyes are now gone. Its tongue and shadow. If a shadow is gone, that means there’s no one there. If a shadow is gone, that means there’s no one there…” I feel a chill crawling up my back as I continue to think, “It could mean less light…” It keeps getting stronger the more time passes, “but there wasn’t any light there to begin with. And if there was no light to begin there… How the fuck did I see anything!”
I continue looking at the doorway, waiting for it to come back. There’s no way it could’ve gotten by me… If it did, I would know. “What’s with this chill?” I reach back towards my neck and scratch it. “Oh my god!” The chill was just an itch. I was worried for a second that it somehow snuck behind me.
I close my eyes as I continue to scratch. It just feels so good! It’s like relieving a bug bite, but as addictive as eating candy. I just can’t stop. I must have gotten lost in my pleasure because I didn’t notice the giant creature standing in front of me.
The light that was once shining on me, is now covered in darkness. My scratching slows down and I look up. Standing in front of me is the shadow, or was the shadow, since it’s in the light. A brigdow? The beast had four claws on each foot. I look up its leg to see that the monster’s skin is a bright red color. The skin doesn’t look quite like skin, but more like scales. Its hands look like its feet except with thumbs. I finally look at the face. It was almost human, but the nose was more like a turtle. The eyes sink a little further into its face, unlike a human with glowing orange eyes. Its black cropped hair waving in the wind.
My jaw drops as the thing in the shadow is now before me. I let out a nervous laugh, “Uh… What a beautiful night it is.”
The creature made slurping sounds as its tongue started pouring out of its mouth.
“Oh, hell no!” I throw myself off the bed and onto the floor, quickly getting up and running away. The creature jumps off as well, wrapping its tongue around the bed frame and launching itself forwards. As I run toward the door, I see its shadow flying over me and crashing right in front of the doorway. Its tongue hits the floor with a slop. I stop suddenly by tripping over my hair. “Seriously! My hair is a safety hazard! I could snap my neck trying to run with it!”
I struggle to get up from my hair. God, my hair is so long, I’m literally tangled up in it! The creature walks towards me at a slow pace. Why do horror movies do this? Just get it over with. My mind races into a frenzy as I worm my way towards the window as its footsteps every so slowly approach. I probably would’ve been fine, but yeah no. I’ve seen too many hentai to know where this is going.
I hear a slurping noise and look back. The creature is winding up its tongue and spits it out at me. Quickly, I roll sideways. Its tongue hitting some part of my hair or something cause as soon as it went past me, I could get up again. Not giving it a second thought, I ran towards the window.
There is only one problem. When I get to the window, it’s three times higher than me. No! This can’t be happening. The window wasn’t that high when I was on the bed. Maybe if I get up on the bed. I look towards the bed. There’s no way I can climb on that. It’s too tall.
This is fine! I pull my hair and start crying. Maybe it’s friendly and won’t kill me, or at least not hurt me too much. Who am I kidding? I turn my back to the wall and slide down. I look back at the beast and its sharp teeth grinning at me. Maybe it wants a hug, yeah.
I could start running again, but that tongue. I can’t get past it! There’s no point. I’m too tired. Mommy, save me. It’s too hard. I can’t do it. I can’t! I can’t! I can’t! It’s impossible! Mommy, I want my mommy. I wanna go home. It’s all just a bad dream. I’ll wake up in the morning in my bed. No monster. Just another boring day of school. She always said watch your tongue, but this is ridiculous! I’m going to be licked to death by Pokemon reject!
I look up again to see the creature standing over me. Its mouth opens to reveal its sharp, pointy teeth. I tried to scream, but nothing came out… Well, something did. Something wet and warm crawls down my legs. I’m going to die covered in my pee. I couldn’t at least let die with some humility and pee after I died?
I close my eyes one last time before the monster kills me, waiting for my death. Nothing happens. Instead, I feel its tongue go across my face and then hear it go back in its mouth. I open my eyes and look up as the creature walks away. Not only did it not kill me, I now need new underwear. I think I ruined these beyond repair.
I sit there in… I sit there in shock or at least I think I am. Because right after it left the room, I fainted.
