Chapter 6: Molrret

Chapter 6: Molrret

Molrret, a species of intelligent subterranean creature that resembles a combination of mole and hamster.

They are small in size, with height ranging from 40~70 cm.

They had a pair of 3 giant claws on their hand that were as long or longer than their own body.

Unlike most rodents, they are bipedal due to their massive claws. When they walk, they waddle like penguins while dragging their massive claws on the ground.

Their claws are sharp and durable. Sharper than most blades. Better than modern mining drills.

Their bodies are surprisingly elastic, allowing them to squeeze their body through tight space.

Their elasticity also makes them highly resistant to blunt force. These resistance helped them survive caves in.

These biological features made them the best digger in the world and put them on the top of the underground food chain.

Due to their habitat, they are blind. However they are able to perceive their surroundings through echolocation.

Their vocal cords do not allow them to speak, but their squeaks are able to convey emotion and they are mainly used as echolocation tools.

Unlike most creatures, they do not use sound as their main communication method. They use smell instead.

Their noses are more sensitive than dogs. To be exact, their noses are not sharper than dogs, but they are capable of identifying smells better.

These are necessary because they communicate through the different smells their pisses are capable of producing.

While other creatures produce words with the sound their mouth makes, they produce words through the different smell their piss made.

Scientifically speaking, they are able to manipulate the chemical reaction their piss excrete to create a specific smell to communicate, record and share specific information, emotion, and empathy among Molrret that are able to smell, identify, and process the specific combination of strands of smell their piss produces.

In layman speak, their pisses are magical Molrret telepathy that you access by smelling piss.

True enough, their pisses are magic.

With the right chemical combination, their piss can become literal health potions.

In ancient times, people used to worship Molrrets as local deities, due to their ability to create caves and produce health potions.

While on average they are not as intelligent as other civilized races, they are intelligent enough to perform complex thinking and rational thinking.

In modern times, these intelligences helped them to be recognized as civilized races.

With their natural digging abilities, they are able to create complex subterranean civilizations and have absolute monopoly on the metro, sewers, and mining industry.

While they are considered a civilized race in modern times, strangely they are not even considered as one before the 14th century.

Instead, they were considered animals, and in most cultures they were considered pests.

Due to their biological advantage, they become the apex creature in the underground.

This is a double-edged sword.

Their superiority made technological progression unnecessary.

They are also capable enough to live by themselves, making them nomadic by nature.

This hindered their cultural and societal progression.

There was no need to progress their civilization past the stone age.

These all changed around the 14th Century.

Most historians, archaeologists, and anthropologists agree that Molrret made major leaps in technological and societal progress during these times.

Advancing their civilization through the stone age and immediately reaching the Renaissance, the same era of civilization as the civilized races were going through at the time.

This phenomenon is called the "14th Century Molrret Enlightenment" historical theory and there are many archaeological and historical proofs to back it.

However, the difference in communication and writing methods make it hard for non-Molrret and Molrret to exchange information with each other.

Obscuring a general knowledge that all modern Molrret smelled from birth.

In the 14th century, Molrret as a species achieved great civilization advancement when they met their God…

Regulus.
