CHAPTER 7-COFFEE AND MARK

CHAPTER 7

COFFEE AND MARK

After having a cold morning shower, Levi got dressed and walked out his apartment towards a coffee shop across the street where he stays. Not many people go to the coffee shop in the morning hence the place tends to be less crowded in the morning. Levi took his seat at the back silently looking through the window whiles sipping a cup of hot morning coffee. Passing pedestrians took quick glances at the coffee shop, Some even had eye contact with Levi through the transparent glass window. Levi was not the only person who liked to spend his morning at the coffee shop. Despite being less crowded, the tables were occupied by one or two regular customers. Creek! The opening of the door caught they attention of everyone for a brief moment. Coming into view, dressed up in gold stripped black leather jacket and matching pants. Middle aged judging from his slightly plump short stature plus average facial features. Being the center of attention made it a bit awkward for the fat man. He quickly paced towards Levi’s direction. Levi is his purpose for coming here in the first place after all.

Blank faced staring at the fat man sitting right in front of him. Smiling brightly the fat man said hi and introduced himself “Hello Levi. My name is Mark, I won’t beat around the bush. Let’s talk about what happened Last night in the alley”. Mentioning the incident, Mark stopped smiling putting on a serious face. Levi was surprised yet he made sure to keep his cool. “Can I ask you a question” Levi looked at Mark making this request. Levi knew that Mark sitting in front of him or the people he worked for knew what those things last night were. “I will answer what I can. You should know some informations are confidential.”Mark replied. “I won’t ask how you found me or how you knew about last nights incident. Cause I know you won’t tell me such info. All what I want to know is what those monsters are” Levi asked Mark without hesitation. “What attacked you Levi is a supernatural creature known as goblins. Yes goblins. But not the short childish fantasy or RPG goblins you know about. The real goblins actually are brutal beings. Gore and bloodshed is their way of life, they’ve been around for centuries. Mostly live in tribes or small groups. Twisted vile creatures, goblins rank least on the food chain however they are still a danger to normal people. At least those RPG’S got it right. After all they are LV1 supernatural creatures”. Mark explained to Levi in a low voice to avoid other people from hearing their conversation, indicating the seriousness of this issue at hand.

“Then I presume you already know what happened last night?” Levi mumbled audibly while he sipped the coffee. “Yes Levi, we know everything. I mean everything. There are other people like you. Take me for example we are the same.” This time Levi showed a surprise expression on his face hearing Mark. He speculated the existence of others just like him. Coming into contact with them was another situation. Almost unexpected. “We are an organization created to maintain law and balance. We have hidden ourselves from the eye if the public for centuries now. The boss sent me to recruit you. You have two options either join us or have your powers sealed leading you to Live a normal life.” Marks proposed to Levi. In that moment Levi felt an overwhelming pressure like standing before a ferocious giant beast. Danger!! Levi prepared to defend himself. Mark retracted his aura sparing Levi from suffering any further. “Sorry for that, I got carried away by the moment. Please do not say no because of this or else the boss won’t spare me if he finds out.” Apologizing to win Levi’s favor Mark switched back to his bright mood.

Finishing his coffee, contemplating on the pros and con Levi finally made a decision. “I would join you. But I still have a lot of question to ask. Fighting is better than sitting down to become someone else’s food. Survival is a must. Count me in, where do I sign.” Levi said after making up his mind. “I’m glad you have accepted. As of now all your expenses will be taking care of by the organization, we will deal with the paper work the day you report. Take this card and phone, make sure you don’t lose them. This card contains funds that can make the average person a small time big shot, for your personal use. All missions, information alongside activities associated with the organization will be sent to it.” Mark explained as he handed the things out to Levi. “I will contact you later” Mark declared leaving Levi while exiting the coffee shop. Few moments later, Levi got up and took his leave. “Life keeps getting interesting” Levi smirked recalling the information he had obtained.
